Oak is the main wood with Walnut and Birds Eye Maple as the secondary(drawer fronts and desk top) Needs a cleaning and a light touch up but otherwise a great desk that would make a statement in your home! Still available thanks to a non-paying bidder, The bell features a ceramic knob to the top above a Gothic base adorned with three faces of the Green Man. A mythical English folklore representation of nature. The casting is superbly detailed and executed. And the clever pivot mechanism that operates the clapper is wonderful. There is a maker's mark. JCP' cast into both sides of the clapper arm. The ceramic knob is cracked. See pics, but that is this astonishingly-beautiful bell's only flaw- it rings like.well, like a bell! The desk top is maple and the fold down seat is alternating maple and walnut. The beautiful cast iron legs have a Gothic tracery on each side.

And unique spiral full columns flanking the drawers at the base Circa 1830's. This fine 19th century piece has its original wavy glass and original hardware with all the locks intact but the key just aids in opening the doors at the top and doesn't work the locks. This secretary desk does separate into two pieces for easier handling during shipping and moving. This secretary measures 76 1/2 inches tall.41 3/4 inches wide,24 inches deep at the base, 13 inches deep at the bookcase portion top and weighs approximately 150 lbs. The fold out writing surface measures 41 3/4 inches ... morewide by 19 inches deep and is 34 1/2 inches in height to the floor. This Empire desk early hand-cut dovetail joinery on the drawer ends and lovely crotch mahogany on the drawer fronts and doors and rests on four large bun feet. The original opalescent glass knobs are just gorgeous and sets of the uniqueness of this wonderful 19th century piece. This secretary is solid and tight. The drawers open and close smoothly. This piece does show some veneer chips and some areas where the veneer has been patched with newer veneer. This is very common in period Empire pieces of this age along with some slight age shrinkage cracks in the veneer. This does affect the functionality or integrity of this fine piece at all, please enlarge and examine the pictures for better detail. The green felt on the writing surface does show wear. One of the nicest panels I have ever sold! May have been made by the famous furniture maker R.J. Horner. But not certain. Circa, 100+ years old. Wood appears to be walnut. It has a wonderfully framed, bevelled, center recessed panel. Inside has dramatically 3 dimensional carvings. Middle head appears to be a roaring lion with mythical griffins to the left and right. If that wasn't enough, the outside border is also elaborately detailed. Great rich patina. Some outside border wear, but wonderful overall condition. This is an absolutely SHOWSTOPPER of a piece. Antique/Vintage Knight Gauntlet desk paper clip letter gothic medieval
A brass desktop paperclip in the form of a knight’s gauntlet on a shield-shaped background– rather medieval or gothic in style. I am unsure of the exact age of this piece having rarely seen one before. The gauntlet is very detailed with scrolling patterns and all of the armour plates represented. The shield shape that forms the base plate also has intricate detailing of a fleur de lis. No markings. The spring on this clip is sound and firm. The clip measures about 5-1/4 inches by 2-3/8 inches; 1-3/4 inches tall. Condition is very good and it will happily hold papers on your desk for many years. The clip can also be hung if desired. This as found unusual desk lamp dates from the early 1900's. Has heavy. I believe, wrought iron base with a copper paneled lantern-type shade. Shade has upper and lower copper sections with a"peened" design. Shade has 10 vertical leaded panels of amber"pebble" glass. Vintage pull chain socket. The heavy square base has a vertical rectangular piece of twisted and bent iron. Fixture is in as found used working condition. Does work with old cloth 2-strand wiring(needs replaced) Iron base has surface rust overall. Copper shade has darkened from age. Glass panels have no breaks or cracks. The removable drawer/writing surface has the original red velvet. The desk measures 6" tall by 11" wide by 9-1/2" deep. Here's an extremely ornate and beautiful circa early 1920s octagonal gothic style desk lamp. There are 8 wonderful early slag pieces on the top and bottom of the lamp. Encapsulating the light. This is absolutely stunning and is all original as I purchased the lamp 30+ years ago. One of the nicest and most unusual lamps ive ever seen. The original lamp hardware was made by Weber Patents 250 w universal. The lamp is unmarked or perhaps I'm completely missing the makes mark. Heavy lamp weighing 13.4 lbs. The fire slag has beautiful reds, oranges and amber color and is absolutely stunning in the natural light. The solid base is wondrous and has some extremely ornate detail, covered in fleur de lis style designs. Lamp measures roughly 25" tall from bottom of base to top of ornate finial. The shade itself measures roughly 12.5" ... morewide by roughly 12" high and the base of lamp is roughly 6.75" wide. There's one small break/chip in the slag on top of the lamp as seen in the top shade flipped upside down image. The lamp disassembled quite easily as seen in the last picture. A fire destroyed the plant and all of its finished stock one year after forming. Mr. Shattuck withdrew his support after this loss and outside interests gained control of the company. Mr. Marble stayed with the company and directed its manufacturing operations until 1895. Another fire in April 1897 is mentioned. The New Register April 8, 1897 issue has a front-page article"A Midnight Blaze" talking about this fire. The paper said it was the work of arsonists and threw 40 men out of work. Despite the seriousness of the fire, the news article ends with"Mr. Charles Klinger was absent on a fishing trip to Castalia when the factory burned. His enforced return was undoubtedly a decided relief to the trout in that locality. Mr. Marble left the company.
