My best guess is that this tin was made by McVitie& Price around 1900. There is no indication of the maker on the piece and my identification is based on research. Roll top desk comes with matching chair. Both refinished in Annie Sloan chalk paint. Hand waxed with clear wax, then dark wax was applied to give it an antique look, 2 more coats of clear wax were then applied, all hand buffed. I did all of the work myself and all by hand. Seventy-five to one hundred hours of my time was spent on this desk! For those of you that aren't familiar with"chalk paint"it is the newest paint out there and is used for all"shabby chic" projects. I had to order it online. I was going for the"shabby chic" look, but couldn't bring myself to add flaws because it turned out so beautiful! Medium Gray on outside w/ Deep Red on the inside. Sterling Desk Company Antique Roll Top Desk with FREE Antique Chair
This is a gorgeous piece in overall good. Antique condition. I did some research on the Sterling Desk Company and determined that it was opened in Cedar Rapids, Michigan in the early 1900s, quite possibly 1909, and closed in 1917. When the roll top is closed there is a mechanism that locks all of the drawers, however the lock on the roll top itself is missing. This is a very large, heavy piece. Any potential buyer would need to consider this when picking up as there will be no help for loading. I have a rather large selection of antique wooded chairs varying in size. Style, and condition. CIVIL WAR Stamped & Pat'd 1861 Roll-Up Field Soldier Lap Desk w/Pen & Inkwell
Stamped and Pat'd Dec. 24. 1861, this Civil War era roll-up lap desk for the field soldier. This neat piece of historical memorabilia rolls up the size of a compact umbrella. Unroll it and inside is a glass inkwell and pen. Made of wood. Leather, metal(ends) and canvas. The lap desk part has two wooden slats which pivot to hold the writing area flat. On the back of the writing area. Stamped in ink is a name A.C. Earle and something I can't make out underneath it. Desk measures 9" across; approximately 3" rolled. The writing side of the desk has been scotch taped and duct taped at one time or another. Perhaps it could be restored to its former self. Many soldiers were married. Had families. No phones. No Skype. Only way to communicate was to write a letter.

Beautiful Refinished Roll Top Desk w/ matching chair
Beautiful roll top desk with matching chair. Totally refinished by hand. Finish is a new paint called"Chalk Paint" and can be purchased only online. But I found a recipe for it, also online. The outside is a medium shade of grey, while the inside(cubbies; writing area; storage area) is done in a deep red.Turned out to be a gorgeous combination! After lightly sanding by hand and painting the desk, I applied a coat of clear wax letting it sit overnight. Then I buffed it to a nice glowing sheen. I then applied a coat of the dark wax I had made with a recipe I found online. This gives it the antiqued look you may have seen on"Shabby Chic" items. Shabby Chic" was originally the look I wanted to do on this desk, but it looked so great after I painted it that I couldn't bring myself to create any flaws on it! I buffed ... moreout the dark wax after waiting overnight again. Two more coats of clear wax were applied, hand-buffing between each. There is a storage bin in the very top that lifts open and is deep red inside and on underside of lid. The handles are antiqued bronze w/ cherry wood middles.The matching chair looks great with it. I did it in all of the steps as the desk. It is deep red with the seat upholstered in a heavy, grey, tapestry-like material purchased at Hobby Lobby. As you will have noticed in the pictures, it has some engraving on the back. Also, on the back and sides of the seat. The desk measures 45 1/2" in heigth and is 22" deep, and 50" in length. Must see to appreciate.the pictures do not do it justice!

Cutler& Sons roll top desk. This is a very rare antique desk accessory marked A. Cutler& Sons Buffalo. New York with a pat. date of 1884. It is in excellent condition and would allow the owner to have his pens and inks ready and able to be switched by simply rotating the cast iron holder. There is a catch on one end that would allow you to hook this to a drawer or possibly there was another spot on the desk to attach. Solid mahogany and original matte gold painted cast iron, this would be a fancy accessory for any roll top desk owner. Measures 13" long x 5" wide x 3" deep. Solid oak, raised panel 54" wide, serpentine ROLL TOP DESK. In as found condition. We removed this desk from a local jewellry store that just closed after nearly 100 years. It retains the original varnish, a full complement of cubby drawers, raised panels inside the knee area. And all around the outside. There are 4 drawers on the left bank, 3 drawers on the right, including the bottom oversized drawer; a center pencil and supply drawer, and an assortment of small drawers in the upper cuppyhole compartments. The desk sits on four heavy duty wheels allowing you to easily move it to clean around it. MEASUREMENTS. 50.5" TALL 34.5" DEEP 54" WIDE Problems are ... moreminor and includes the canvas on the roll. It has split in two places so it will need to be replaced. The old owner jerryrigged a thin wire system to hold it together so it was operable. The other problem is a screw on the face of the pencil drawer.It's small but doesn't belong there. Other that that the piece is in pretty good condition. Certainly restorable to look as new. The desk does disassemble. The top comes off with six screws. The back panel has four screws on each side and the spreader in front has 2 screws. Now it's very managable. Come pick it up in Chicago. I do not know the exact age but believe it was around the late 1920's. I do know that the desk was stripped of its original stain and clear coated to bring back its original true oak color. And the drawer pulls were replaced, in the late 1980's. The desk show the normal wear for its age. A few of the wood slats appear to be loose but all are present and intact. One of the Front legs of the desk has a wood gouge. There is a small blue plastic pen holder that is glued down inside of desk(the pen is missing) There is NO chair with this desk. The overall dimensions is 15”deep by 20 1/2” wide and 33 1/2” tall. The interior of the desk is 12 1/2” deep and 17 1/2” ... morewide. Antique French Roll Top Carved Desk 19th Century Beautiful
Up for auction this week is a nice 19th century French roll-top desk that I purchased from an antique furniture dealer on eBay three years ago. I must sell this desk to make space in my office for other furniture. I am not a furniture expert in an sense of the word. But can assure you this piece is late Victorian and original. The desk appears to have a burl mahogany veneer, but it is difficult for me to tell whether the wood is mahogany. I suspect it might in fact be walnut. The desk is in overall fair-good condition for its age. There are many spots where there have been nicks, dings, and scratches(all commensurate with age) and you can probably notice many of them in my photo gallery. The previous owner attempted to clumsily color in a few areas of missing wood with a modern repair'pen' There are also ink stains in one of the secretary ... moredrawers where the pens were likely stored by previous owners over the years. Nevertheless, the desk is still solid, beautiful, and functional after many, many years of service. It is a magnificent example of late victorian period furniture. The desk has its original hardware and came with a plethora of keys. The keys work and lock the cabinets in the upper gallery, but they do not seem to be able to lock the drawers in the desk proper. This desk has ample space for storage as you can hopefully see from my photographs. If you have a home or an apartment with limited space, one bit of good news is that this desk is comprised of three separate pieces for ease of transport; the large base, the roll-top, and the upper gallery/curio cabinet. The overall height of the piece is 72 inches, and the maximum width of the piece is 46 inches. Interestingly, the desk also has two leather-top side leaves on either side that extend outward another 20 inches. This desk is fully functional with a very nice leather-top writing surface that extends outward to allow a greater work space. Antique Vintage Roll Top Tambour Desk with Chair.
An older an HEAVY rolltop desk. The rough measurements are 5ft by 2/12ft by 4ft. Some chips on the corners but overall in great condition. Has a lock and key for one of the drawers and a lock for the roll top part. I dont have the key for that lock so I took it off but it comes with the desk. Also matching rolling desk chair which is also a little heavy. Not opposed to shipping. But it would be a couple hundred dollars because of the weight. Happy bidding.

The Desk has seven(7) drawers. The center one with individual lock, and the others locking when the roll top is down. A variety of nooks and compartments offer storage above the desk surface. The height of the upper section is low enough to allow this piece to be placed in the open, and still offer a view behind the Desk. The back is finished, further assisting an open placement. Keys are included for the two major locks, but missing for the small compartment near the right side(see last picture) The Desk measures 43 inches high. 54 inches wide, and 30-1/2 inches deep. We did not find any marks on it to identify the manufacturer. Cool Wooden Vintage Roll Top Desk In Great Condition
Condition: Is used but is in absolutely great condition like new! No scratches. No wearing of the wood, no dents, clean, roll top slides very nicely, drawers open great no jerkiness, medium size desk, and spacious enough to fit a sewing machine on it and more! The desk is 45 inches tall, 32 inches wide and 24 inches in length(measuring from side of desk) The top shelf part of the desk is 32 1/2 inches wide and 8 1/2 length. The small 2 drawers are 4 x 6 and 2 inches deep. The medium drawer is 9 x 6 and 2 inches deep. and the large drawer is 17 1/2 inches wide and 11 1/2 inches length and also 2 inches deep. The 2 inches deep may sound little but it can really hold a lot considering the Length and Width of the drawers.

Up for auction is this really sweet. Solid oak, double pedestal roll top desk. It is in 100% original condition and finish. It measures 42" wide by 26" deep and 49" high. It has some issues that I consider minor but are reflected in the price. There are some scratches on the bottom of the right pedestal which need to be sanded and stained. There is also some separation on the left hand side of the desk top. All of the drawers and the roll top itself work flawlessly. The interior has cubbies with two oak drawers. Iconic Mid-Century Modern George Nelson for Herman Miller Tambour Roll-Top Desk This is your chance to get this rare and stylish centerpiece for your office! A very rare find. This desk is in good condition for it's age. This is a circa 1950s desk designed by the late great George Nelson for the Herman Miller Company. The desk is large and in charge measuring 54" wide, 34" tall and 30" deep. The desk is has a nice work surface with slight angle down toward the front with 2 20 3/4" storage draws with compartments. There is file storage in the back behind the work surface. The whole thing is covered by the roll-top tambour wood cover that cleverly conceals the entire surface when desk is not in use, providing a beautiful cover. The top slides with some slight resistance and could probably use some waxing. The desk is ... moredusty and could use a cleaning and the wood could use treatment for some water spots and minor discoloration. There are no breaks or cracks in the wood and the mechanism is intact to move the top across and roll it back. There is some scratches to the back of the desk sides and a dent underneath(pictured) The chrome base with 4 leveling feet appears in good shape. The desk is heavy and solid. The desk is lockable when the top is closed however it does not come with the key and the lock is in the locked position so the top does not pull quite all the way down over the front due to the lock(see picture of lock) It would not be difficult to have this serviced by a lock smith and have a key made. This is a must-have for any mid-century modern collector and a rare find! I can provide more pictures upon request. No reasonable offers refused so don't hesitate to make an offer! ANTIQUE ROLL TOP DESK 1905 and chair. Philadelphia
S CURVE ROLL TOP DESK 1905 WITH PIGEON HOLE TOP. SECRET DOOR AND CHAIR This desk was purchased for the 1905 opening of Philadelphia's Northest High School for Manual Trades at 8th and Lehigh Ave. Later. The school became Northeast High School for Boys until a new Northeast High opened in 1957. Then the building was renamed Edison High School. In 1966 I rescued this desk from the school incinerator. In 1972 I had it refurbished and used it for the next 40 years at home. The desk is 50" wide and 48" high. It has deep drawers. A working lock and a secret door on the lower right side. The roll up sticks a bit on the way up, but otherwise operates smoothly. The desk surface is a bit rough and there are definite but minor signs of age. Still, it s a beautiful piece of functional furniture that can easily be resold later. The old oak ... morechair is included. Pick up in Northeast Philly only.

Ethan Allen Old Tavern Distressed Pine Roll Top Desk
Here is a wonderful example of Ethan Allen quality. Done in the popular Old Tavern distressed finish. It is in great shape. There is a small chunk of wood missing under the lip of the top section. It is mostly hidden and not very noticeable. It could be filled. Please see photo#5. Otherwise, there is very little sign of wear. The roll operates smoothly. The drawers also operate smoothly and have tight tovetails. The bottom left drawer has brackets for hanging files. This desk has a LOT of storage. I do not have the key. The top section is removeable. Although large, the desk is made of pine and therefore not really heavy. It stands 55" wide, 48.5" tall and 28" deep. Shipping is estimate. Solid wood Roll Top desk has a distinguished raised panel exterior, wonderfully warm honey patina and is equipped 37 separate places in which to stash or display your work inside. The photos attached include much detail. Including signs of use(especially on the desk top and pull out shelves) minor scratching, etc. Please note we have not restored or treated the wood in anyway. All drawers. Locks and doors work smoothly. In our opinion the roll top escutcheon and the keys are reproduction and not original to the piece. It comes apart in two major pieces for transportation. There is a central back panel the same size as the chair opening which also detaches at the owners preference. The total of 37 storage and filing locations breaks out as follows: TWENTY ... moreTWO MULTI-SIZED CUBBIE DRAWER COMPARTMENTS 22 drawers. Each with brass nameplate hardware with a top finger pull. As the pictures reveal, some of the drawers are larger than they appear from the outside. FIVE OPEN SLOTS 3 vertical slots are located at the center 2 horizontal slots are inside a door on the right side of the desktop THREE CUPBOARDS 2 shapely doors open to deep cupboards flanking the center section.
