The large Secretary Desk Bookcase has a half round mirror on the left top side over the desk area and the right top side has a double brass finial and rod gallery over the bookcase area. Everything is completely original except for the mirror which was broken has been replaced. There is a small wood professional repair to the bottom left corner of the drop front lid but that is minor and matches the grain and not noticeable. It has been completely refinished to restore its original Golden Oak finish and ready for your beautiful home. Notice the beautiful quartered sawed oak grain through out the piece and the deep heavy ornate carvings and bead work. What a great piece of furniture. It doesn't get any better than this! There are three shelves in the bookcase that are adjustable. There is one shelf below in the lower double door compartment that locks underneath the desk. Each drawer and door has a skeleton key lock with two keys included. Inside the desk is a beautiful pigeon hole interior and one small drawer with a brass knob. The piece is complete with an open shelf above the drop down desk. The piece is 50" wide. 14" deep, and 80 1/4" or 6 ft. 8 1/4" tall. The drop down lid is 22" x 15 7/8" with the inside interior measuring 10 3/4" x 22 1/2" The upper open shelf space is 12" x 22" The arched bookcase door is 58 3/4" high x 21 3/4" wide, and the bottom double door compartment is 22" x 15 3/4" A must for the American Oak collector's Side By Side Secretary Bookcase collection. Vtg Antique Bank School Gaming Courthouse Wood Desk Table Ink Wells Solid Oak
This is one really cool piece of history! There are ink wells and pencil cutouts for seven people/employees. It is straight on one side and curved on the other side. See the pics as to how I squared it up on a trailer to best show the curvature. It is 138" long by 88" on the curved side. I am not certain if this was used as a school desk. Banker's desk, gaming table, courtroom desk, or? If you have any thoughts of how it may have been used or where it was originally from please feel free to share your knowledge with me. A spectacular secretary desk has three dimensional Renaissance sculptures of figures, a lion head, griffins, fruit and representations of music and the arts on lower door panels. The original finish is extremely well preserved with warm antique patina. Waxed and buffed. It needs only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth to maintain its glowing luster. A key in the drop front unlocks the upper drawer as well. Inside is a natural saddle leather writing surface plus a maple interior with tiny drawers and cubicles for papers plus a secret panel above. Very Fine Original Early 18th Century Carved Dated Oak Desk Box. Carved with initials M.H and dated 1714. Superb quality piece with beautiful colour. Skin and patination throughout. Construted with handmade iron rose nails, all untouched. Original period iron butterfly hinges. The box has a beautiful thin top with triple moulded edge to front and rear, another sign of a top quality piece from its time.There is a wonderful gentle upward warp to the top that just adds real character to this piece. The carving to the front is very fine and detailed, including the initails and date which are quite beautifully executed. The box has its original fitted interior intact, each drawer is also constructed with iron nails, again untouched. The drawers have never had handles fitted, you can even see the faint scribing marks to the front of drawers where ... morehandles could of been placed. All the oak throughout is original with no alteration or additions. The hasp is missing however the original iron plate and lock remain again untouched. In its time this would of been a very fine quality and expensive example of its type, constructed with the best quality timber and iron fittings of the period. But the rest is legible. Quick restore polish used on the furniture. In Storage for years.I did do a repair on the rear leg as shown. Was cracked and poorly repaired. Removed the old metal brace. I took the leg off and drilled ... moreboth portions in the center of the 2 pieces and installed a steel rod 1/2" diameter X 6" length. Pin is not visible as the pin is in the middle of the wood. The leg will NEVER break there again. A new L brace on the back side unseen from the front to complete the repair.Nice tight repair. Other issue is the tamba door which rolls up& down. I had to duct tape the handle on the back side. A new cloth or woven material should be glued on the back side so it rolls nicely again as one. Probably billiard felt would work well too. With contact cement on both portions and clamp. The door rolls as shown now. I spent enough time repairing the leg on this so new owner will complete this noted defect. For ultimate show the piece should be refinished or at minimum touched up with Orange shellac as is the original finish still on the pieces.Typical of 1940s-1950s furniture refinishing. Repair shop can do this relatively easy. If I had more time would do it myself. Its noted so no surprises. That said its a nice older sturdy desk that will retain value. Oak is always desired. When I saved old ink wells and antique books it was set up as a victorian desk and bookcase complete with inkwell and quill pen. When I wanted to use it(as it is shown) to display my green depression glass, the glass shelves displayed that beautifully. It is a solid oak piece with all the original hardware and original beveled mirror. We did add the glass shelves. They were missing when we purchased this piece many years ago. It has a drop leave desk that hides all the little cubbies and small drawer. There is a storage closet and a larger drawer under the drop leave desk. We have the original key and it still works. First of all. I am no expert on antiques, however I have been working in furniture retail all my life and admire great quality and craftsmanship as this chair offers. I believe it has been made entirely of white oak and some of the pieces appear to be quartersawn. They have very large stripes which leads me to believe it to be older than 100yrs or close to it. Please correct me if I'm wrong as I will change my listing. As stated before, I'm no expert. I have looked all over for a gustov stickler stamp hoping this chair to be worth 10's of thousands of dollars but he prob didn't make many student chairs. There are no stamps or hallmarks. The back looks like simple 3 slat back design. It has 2 sets of stretchers with square tenons between each legs. They are all structurally sound. I cannot see any repairs on it at all. In fact. ... moreI just noticed taking these pics, that the crack I've seen for the last 8 yrs, isn't a crack at all. It's a joint where the seat is glued together from three planks of dovetails. They are in tact, refer to the pics for better description. You can see by the pics there has been use and some very old scratches probably from moving many years ago. I am only selling to free up space in my downsized newer home and would love to pass this along to someone who can admire it as much as I have the last decade. If you know of shipping options, I can probably ship greyhound for $100 or less across the country. Also, you would have to pick it up at the closest greyhound depot, let me know. ANTIQUE OAK DRAFTING TABLE BASE STEAMPUNK GREAT FOR DESK BAR TABLE
This is a nice drafting table base. The height is adjustable. It extends from 31" tall to 41" tall. The base is 30" wide and 25 1/2" deep. There is one screw missing. It is on the side and the table is functional without it. Also. There is a chip on the underside of one of the wood pieces, see the last picture, it isn't visible from the top, you have to turn the base over to see it. There are normal scratches and scuffs. We didn't polish it but I think it would really come alive with some Liquid Gold. Overall it is still an attractive and very useable table base. We will disassemble it for shipping. Otherwise we wouldn't be able to ship it.

Stunning American Quartersawn oak secretary. Late 1800's or early 1900's. 100% restored. Refinished in a rich dark oak stain with several coats of clear semi gloss lacquer. Above average quality featuring detailed claw feet. And lions heads.The two beveled mirrors in excellent condition. The hardware is original. It has been cleaned but no polished. The bookcase section has four wood shelves with plate grooves. Gives an option to display books. China etc. The canopy section above the right beveled mirror needed repair. Antique 1900s Partners Desk 60 x 48 x 31 "Tiger" Oak
Desk is in very good condition- very solid. Drawers in fine shape(work well) Some minor"curling" of the veneer on top surface in a few spots which measure approx. 4"5" long(tried to capture this in photos) The lighter appearance of the drawers in the 4th photo is due to that side facing the window- the wood isn't that light.
