The exquisite top features a radiant Mother of Pearl Cartouche( 2" by 1" with no engravings or markings) It has eight Mother of Pearl Discs that are positioned near the corners. The discs are connected by pewter'stringing lines' to form two rectangles on the top. I believe that the two shortest pewter'stringing lines' on the ends of the inner rectangle may be replacement pieces. There are also four Mother of Pearl discs on the front of the box. Connected by pewter'stringing lines' These also form a rectangle. The escutcheon has an inlay that is a bone color. But does not appear to be Mother of Pearl. The top opens to reveal a green velvet fabric-covered writing slope which appears to be original. There are five separate compartments for ink wells. Nibs, wax, stamps etc. There is also a removable concave pen tray with storage space beneath it. The green velvet-covered'top partition' pulls down with a black grosgrain tab to expose a storage compartment. The storage compartment measures 14 1/4" by 7 1/4" For stationary. The green velvet-covered'bottom partition' pulls open with a black grosgrain tab to expose a storage compartment. This storage compartment measures 14 1/4" by 5" For letters. The hinges and fittings are brass and there is a flush brass handle on each end of the box. The right side has a 10 1/2 X 11 1/2 Mirror on top, then a drop front desk with 6 small pigeon hole shelves& 1 small drawer. Under drop front there is 1 pull out drawer& under that there is large door with 1 more shelf plus the bottom which totals 2 shelves. This Secretary stands 67" tall, measures 39" across the front and 14" deep from the front to the back. It's in very good vintage condition for it's age& will hold a great deal of items. The Back has written in black"J D Westcott Newport NJ Troley(Trolley is misspelled) This item was likely delivered by Trolley back in the early 1900's" This Beautiful Antique ... moreOak Secretary/Desk is in Very Good Vintage Condition for it's 75-100+ year age. It is solid oak with just a little oak veneering on the top's curved skirt. Antique Oak Chautaugua Industrial Art Desk with Matching Bench School Learning
Antique oak Lewis and Myers school desk/learning center. Dated 1923 and manufactured in Valparaiso. Indiana. I also have the accompanying seat that completes this set. The top of the desk features an American Resources Map with area, population, mining, and manufacturing. From what I can tell the paper is cloth, somewhat distressed with a few minor stains. Top measures 21 1/2"X 17 1/4" Unopened height is 26 1/2" tall and stands on 2 adjustable legs that are adjusted by thumb screws. The desk also features a slide out drawer, desk top also slides rear-ward to reveal yet another desk top. The first top with map and sliding top is removable or locked in place with a sliding pin to lock in place. The Oak bench measures 15 1/4" in length by 7 1/2" in width, and is also adjustable in height styled exactly like the desk ... morewith thumb screw type adjustment. In the full up position it measures 14" full down position is approx. 10" in height. When the top is opened it reveals operating instructions for each child, shelf type compartments on both sides and a compartment in the center for writing materials I would guess. Atop the opened shelf area, or what would be the underside of the sliding desk top is cloth paper with the name"The Chautaugua Industrial Art Desk" a plan to promote the culture of work and play among children in the home" with a scenic lake front and boats in the backround. This cloth paper has various lessons which are printed on rollers. The first illustration is line drawings, various shapes and sizes.It is copyrighted 1913 by the Powers and Myers Co. The second illustration is of various animals, shadow style, blocks and circles, also shadow style. The third is a short illustration of the 3 bears story, an apple, hen on nest, pearl necklace, basket a woven rug and the procedure to complete. for auction is a wonderful solid quartersawn oak roll top desk. this desk has no veneers and the quartersawn oak flake is as good as i have ever seen or owned. an old man. Long dead, who dealt in many many roll top desk told me that if you had a desk with a 5 digit inventory number that is was made by stickley and brandt. at any rate i would stake a good bit on his opinion. the stamped in inventory no. on this desk is 18173. regardless of who made this desk, it is top quality material and workmanship. the desk is 50 inches tall with a s waterfall top with a tambur that rolls and moves with great ease, no stopping, catching, jamming, etc. it rolls like butter. the other dimensions are, it is 50 inches wide and 32 inches deep. the desk top is 30 inches from the floor. it has the original key cover plate and strike plate on the desk top writing ... moresurface. the old lock has lost it's guts so i replaced the lock. anyway the top will lock if you choose to do so. it has a wonderful set of cubbies, complete with two pencil holders, i forgot to open for pictures and one drawer with a carved pull. i expect there may have been another drawer on the other side that has fell by the wayside somewhere and time in the last 120 years. the remainder of the cubby holes are as they should be. they were never designed for drawers and the openings are a good bit smaller than the ones that would accept a drawer. it has 4 drawers of wonderful construction on the left bank of the cabinet portion, most of which contain dividers. the right bank consists of three drawers, the bottom is a double drawer suited for file folders, it has a divider long ways down the center. i also forgot to open the drawers for pictures. i have used the 12 pictures ebay allows, but if anyone want pictures of the inside of the drawers or anything else i will be glad to send them to you. the drawers all have carved pulls in mint condition. underneath the desk top are four scotch and secure blocks which slide into a groove about 1/2 inch below the top part of the

It has a metal pedestal base that can adjust up and down with a metal adjustment wheel. And four spindle legs with wheels. The metal components have been painted black. The wheels have been replaced at some point in its life(see photos) It has solid oak arms, a wide solid wood seat, and a tall spindled back, with a solid quarter sawn oak top. The chair has had one repair to one of the legs. As visible in photos, which has held for all of the 10 years that I have owned it, and it has had a tremendous amount of use in that time. Believe this is RIFT not QUARTER SAWN OAK. It is an"S" style desk, most likely mfg. between 1890 and 1900, notice the hand done dovetailing on the and the carved drawer handles. The locks on the tambour and center drawer are from Corbin Cabinet and Lock Company. It was disassembled in the late 60's and completely refinished. This desk has 2 Pull Out writing surfaces. And is 60"L 32"W 49"H and consists of 6 pieces; 2 Pedestals, Tambour section, desk top insert, and the lower back connecting section between the 2 Pedestals(many of the desks shown here don't have this) Desk is panel sided. NO RESERVE For Auction is this antique Oak"S" Curve Roll Top Desk. Single Pedestal. Made by the"Indianapolis Cabinet Co. Indianapolis, Ind. The lock on the desk top is dated 1884. There is no lock inside the key hole/lock compartment. It has recessed panels on both sides and back. The Roll Top slides up and down. Not a smooth slide. You have to hold both handles to open and close. It tends to stick when sliding. The flat surface of the desk appears to have been refinished at one time and it has a brownish stain on the desk. The top portion of the desk sets on the base. It does not bolt into the base. There are signs of wear in the form of scratches. Chips to the wood and repairs that I tried to show in the many photos. Antique oak slant top desk. Slant top section lifts on brass H-hinges from the top providing an excellent storage space beneath. Secondary wood is pine. The flat side area has been covered in green felt and has two small drawers. Drawers are framed with molding and have decorative wooden pulls and sturdy dovetail joints. Wide turned legs complete the Victorian-era look of the desk. This desk dates from the late 1800's. Overall. The desk is in very good condition. There is a little bit of sagging in the middle of the desk, where the two sides join, which has caused some of the wood to separate. See picture. There is also a perfectly round hole in the back of the flat section where another back piece may have been attached at some point. There is some wear to the feet, corners and surfaces, which is to be expected on a piece this age. It ... morelooks as if someone has filled in most of the nail holes with wood filler at some point. Vintage Antique Mission Oak Desk Top 3 Drawer File Cabinet Dovetailed Orig Finish Mission Hardware/ Nice original piece with WEIS decal still visible. It is the style that has 3 drawers that pull out as seen in photos. It still retains the original finish. The top has the typical spilled ink mark done many years back. It measures 11 3/4" tall by 17 inches wide and 13" deep. There is a small nick in the corner as seen in the photos. Just a nice old table top file cabinet. This will be a NO RESERVE auction sold AS IS to the highest bidder. Antique Solid Oak Desk and matching Chair(unassembled) This auction is for the items shown in the pictures. When the movers moved my whole goods. They disassembled this desk. It is made of solid Oak, no linoleum or particle board. All the parts are there except one coaster on the chair is missing. All the coasters on the chair will have to be replaced and the desk will have to be re-assembled. I do not have the room to re-assemble it. I have this listed as a Customer pick-up, you can have a Shipper ship it. I am quessing that all the pieces weigh 300 pounds. Questions are always welcome.
