The base has a slant top drop down writing area and small drawers on each side of the writing area. Behind the slant top are cubbies and another drawer. All 4legs are ring turned. Overall this piece is in great condition for its age. The top is showing some wear. Scuffs and scrapes. There is a split in the top board on the left side as well. I do not know the maker or exact date this was made. It is antique and will not be perfect. Measurements are 59 ¼ inches tall, 42 ½ inches side to side and 20 inches front to back. This is a late 19th century Tiger Oak Side-by-Side Secretary Desk/ Book Case. It is in excellent antique condition overall and loaded with details. The tiger striping feature in the oak is amazing throughout. There is an open upper shelf backed by a shaped beveled mirror. Below the open shelf. On the left, is a four shelf book case with three adjustable shelves and a curved glass door. On the right is a smaller storage compartment with a leaded beveled glass door. Below that is a drop down door that becomes the desk top when opened and reveals five cubbies and a central drawer. Below that are three larger drawers. The drop down and the three large drawers all have locks. All of the locks work and the key is present. Flanking all of this is a pair of Roman columns topped by Ionic capitals that hold up a canopy with an ogee shaped facing edge. ... moreThe two front feet are Empire style scrolls. Knee hole 20 1/2" wide x 24 3/4" high at mid point. This desk has been completely restored at some point in the past and is fully functional. Some drawer are slightly tighter in their movements than others. But all are in working order. The top portion of the desk has twenty-eight(28) drawers and twelve(12) slots. The calender is in a typical Edwardian style and in great working order and is complete with all dates and a glased windeo to the front. The piece is in good condition though it looks likt there may have once been ridges around the top as there is the bottom. Also, some of the nails can be seen through some of these which have split some of them though none are loose at all, the calender is in sturdy condition with lots of life left. There is general wear here and there and a little dust wear to the numbers/fabric within. The height of the calendar is 16cm in height with a length of 12.5cm and a width of 6.4cm. It is a single quarter sawn oak board(not veneer or laminated) measuring 24 x 13 5/8 x 3/4 inches. It is in excellent condition with just a slight wobble when laid flat. The surface is very smooth. One side is beautifully finished with a terrific as found patina. The board was cleaned but not waxed or re-varnished. The reverse side is unfinished but the grain in the wood is clearly visible. This is a fantastic desk if you have a big space. It is large! It has everything you would expect from a desk of that era. Built in pen and paper clip holders, a slide out for your key board( originally for a type writer if you remember what that is! Big file drawers on both sides! and the chair is a little older but very comfy. Chair can raise or lower and it works great! If you are looking for a big, impressive desk, THIS IS IT! Description: For your consideration a wonderful vintage circa 1930s-40’s Oak Adjustable Swivel Seat Industrial Design Office Desk Chair. The chair is a very sturdy. Its hardware mechanically designed for daily office use made to last not throw away. It measures 33” H with seat adjustment all the way down. The seat is 17.75”H and is adjustable up to 19”H, the seat is 18” wide and 16” front to back, the base is 20” square. It weighs approx 35 lbs. Hard rubber casters were made in Evansville Indiana. Great Antique Condition- some wear to finish consistent with its 70-80 years of age and use. Casters and their sockets. Swivel, height adjustment and back tension adjustment are in working order and great condition.
