Antique Lap Writing Desk Folding Oak Wood Bone Box Travel Portable Brass Hinges
For sale is this exquisite antique lap writing desk. It does have some condition issues. Which is why my opening bid is low for this type of quality. Someone re-lined the interior with green felt. Both interior wood surfaces are off their hinges, and it appears to be missing two slats by the ink well holders. However, this was really an upscale item for its time. Both wood surfaces inside the box have breadboard edges. I believe the material for the lock and top accent pieces is bone. They have been inlaid and pinned. The pinned brass corners were beautifully constructed. Has a little copper stop inside to hold the table down. Made of oak, it measures approx. 4 1/2" h x 12 3/4" w x 7 3/4" d. Antique Oak "S" Roll Top Desk with Raised Panels - VINTAGE - Offers Accepted
This is an Antique Oak"S" Roll Top Desk with raised panels that has been beautifully restored. This desk is from my Grandparents home as I can not ever remember not seeing it there and I am almost 50 years old. I do not have a maker on this desk but have to believe that it is from the early 1900's. I would love to display this in my home. But my home will not accommodate it. It is 54 inches long. 3 feet wide and 4 foot tall. It is Oak and it has 4 drawers on the left hand side and 3 drawers on the right hand side. There is a brass plate in which to lock the desk. But I do not have a key for it. The colors and details are beautiful. With it being so old. There are some imperfections as you can see. On the left hand pull out there are little holes in the wood. Not sure if they were put there by someone or if something happened ... moreto the wood. On the back there is a knick of wood missing as you can see in the picture. Two of the drawers bottoms have been replaced and two of the drawers have what looks like as stains, but it does not get on anything. Rare Antique Salesman's Sample or Child's Miniature Light Oak ROLL-TOP DESK
Here is a wonderful little miniature light oak ROLL-TOP DESK that is either a salesman's sample or a child's desk. Exactly like a regular roll-top desk in every respect: the tambour door slides smoothly up to reveal a roomy interior with handy little cubbies. There is also a drawer which slides easily. I'm guessing it to date anywhere from 1900-30. Great condition; the finish does show some discoloration. Notably on the left side(see photos) I'm not sure if this aging, or the varnish ran. For sale I have a set of 4 brass and mahogany fronted drawers that apparently go to an antique roll top desk. Circa 1900. I'm not sure of their function but what I do know is that they are antique, probably mahagony? They have unusual tapered backs with heavy brass hardware(some brass is missing, see pix) The drawers are numbered 164. 165, 166, and 168 and measure just under 4 5/8" wide, by just under 3/4" tall by 9 3/4" long. These are very interesting drawers!

This is the"holy grail" of oak rolltop desks according to my preferences. When you look at it. It's like looking into an old cathedral or old library. This is a truly stunning piece of art. Origins: My great grandfather established a retail business in Massachusetts in 1895 and the store survived three generations in the same location. When my father(third generation) closed the business in 1978, I(fourth generation) gathered up all of the treasures and had them painstakingly restored. Included was this desk, an 1800's brass National Bar Cash Register, a large Victorian Oak Book case and other pieces. The desk, when I got it had been painted green. The restorer, a master craftsman, E.P. Lavelle of Holyoke, MA took one year to completely restore this masterpiece. This is not your typical finish. The wood was stripped, the ... morepores were filled, the wood stained, then multiple coats of varnish/shellac? were applied, rubbed polished and caressed to perfection. Even the tambour strips were individually finished and then applied to new canvass to create the ultimate S roll top. The desk has been with my family for a hundred years and sad to say, I have no family that can take this heirloom. If you are a dealer with a good home in mind or a successful executive looking for a great traditional desk- this item is for you. Recently, the last ten years, this item has been in storage. I have a crate for the top and the bases were wrapped in soft material and then padded with bubble wrap. It took me the better part of the day to put it back together for the photos and it has a fresh coat of paste wax. There is a small brass plaque with my grandfather's name, restorer and my name on the panel to the rear- facing the front of this unit. LOCAL PICK-UP ONLY* Up for sale is this beautiful old library table or writing desk made out of quarter-sawn. Or quarter-cut white oak. The wood is cut in such a way to reveal the large flaking pattern found in white oak(Quercus alba) that has been quarter sawn. Once stained, the wood has a rich golden color as seen in the photos. The table measures about 26 inches wide, 42 inches long, and stands about 30 inches tall. There is a drawer on one side and a shelf across the bottom. There is a burn mark along the edge as shown in the 5th photo, but otherwise the table is in good condition for its age. The inside of the drawer seems to have been replaced with some plywood at some point in time. The drawer doesn't slide smoothly, but may be an easy fix. During the late 1800's and early 1900's. The Larkin Soap Company was making and offering various items free with large orders, one of these items being the'Chautauqua Desk' Refer last picture- these desks look very similar to this item. The desk is a golden oak color. With three(3) shelves and stands 53" tall x 30" wide and 12" deep, this becomes 26 1/4" deep with the desk open) There is no key for the lock. The auction is for an Antique Quartersawn Oak Adjustable Swivel Chair. It has original finish with nice color. Chair does have wear to legs. Top back edge, and top of arms. Wear to wood and finish on base is probably from feet rubbing on it. Could probably be touched up by someone who knew what they were doing or refinished. It is useable the way it sits now. Antique - arts & crafts - cast-iron & oak - school desk & chair combo
A lovely example of a by gone era. This may in fact be late 19th century. But I strongly suspect it's very early 20th century. It's cast-iron and Oak. Quite heavy for it's size. As seen in the photos, Lettering appears as"Eclipse" 5" twice per side& Cleveland" The seat and desk heights are fully adjustable by a range of about 6 1/2" It must have been touched up or restored at some point with flat black paint, because it has no sign of being adjusted. Other marking in a circle: T Kundtz Cleave O" and further numbers"5& 6 LB" The desktop is about 19-1/2" x 12" for scale. The height of the highest point of the desktop, as it is shown, is about 24" It's quite a nice piece for an early collector. Just that glue line is the only really flaw. The cast-iron shape and super ... moretight old grown grain of the Oak is just not seen or available any more. This matches any arts& crafts era(1890's- 1930's) home perfectly. The desk sits on small, squat bun feet, and the pedestals and top are three separate pieces, for ease of transportation and movement. This is a highly functional large-size desk with a generous desk surface. Overall. The desk measures 164cm wide, 82cm deep and is 75.5cm high. Please let me know. Up for auction and out of a local Charleston estate is this top shelf solid oak partner's desk which was originally owned by a Charleston. SC area businessman in the mid 1800's and possibly railroad desk based on the paperwork inside. Simple and with incredible attention to detail, this desk has three or four drawers per each side of the two pedestals. In addition, there are the top drawers all the way around(front and back) which are carved with quatrefoils which means"four leaves" in Latin. Quatrefoils are always in the shape of four circles which overlap equally.these are actually a quatrefoil carved on the inside of a carved ... morequatrefoil. The drawer pulls on these are just a carved out area under each drawer and all of them have this wonderful wear only achieved through 160 years plus of use. Each drawer is hand dovetailed and the bottoms are chamfered with the secondary wood of the drawers of oak. The two pedestal cases which hold either three or four drawers are also hand dovetailed.the cases themselves. At some point, the bottom two drawers of one side of each pedestal were professionally joined, literally, which makes these drawers great for legal size paper and folders. Whoever accomplished this did it without compromising the desk in any way. In fact, one is hard pressed to even know that these drawers are joined unless one already knows. The secondary wood is also quartersawn and straight sawn wood. There may be a piece or two of pine.not sure. The tooled leather top may or may not be original.if not, it is an old replacement and tooled with a shell design around the edges. It is black and there are a few scratches but nothing out of the ordinary. The sides are paneled with gorgeous quarter and straight sawn oak. All of the lock sets are original as are the keys. This lovely piece is definitely antique and we would date it to c1900. Though it could be a little earlier. This terrific, interesting piece is constructed of oak, which has a mid to dark mellow patina. The piece has age and loads of character, and is in really good condition for age. The desk features turned legs and a stretcher ... morebase. It has five(5) drawers beneath the desk surface. One of which has a fitted interior. There are a further five(5) drawers in the raised section to the back. The desk is finished with a small amount of carving to applied timber panels. This is a generous-sized piece. Without being too large for the modern home. The desk surface measures 129.5cm wide and 65.5cm deep. The overall height extends to 98cm including the detachable drawers on the top. Importantly, the kneeehole is very generous measuring 52cm wide and 58cm high- suitable for most adults. This gorgeous desk is simple. But with character and charm in abundance!
