Lost wax casting has been around for thousands of years. Yet few people understand how the process actually works. Although mechanization has facilitated the lost wax process of bronze casting. The procedure is basically the same as that used by the Chinese when they first developed the process in the 2nd millennium BC. The Rubber Mold. First the artist creates an original sculpture out of any number of media. Including stone, wax, clay, wood and pottery. We don't have a key. So we are not sure if it is in working condition. Comes from the estate of a clock collector and repairman out of Munster, Indiana. Excellent Condition. Though porcelain face has a couple of tiny hairline cracks and a small shallow chip out of the porcelain right near the keyhole by the number"8" No other breaks or repairs that we can see. Please look closely at photos for the gorgeous details. Could use a cleaning, as it is quite dusty. We cannot find a name or manufacturer anywhere. Clock is heavy, weighing in at 10.8 lbs. Here is a desktop German beehive or mantle clock marked J.E. Caldwell& Co. Philadelphia on the dial. And marked Winterhalter and Hofmeier on the back of the movement. It is in excellent condition. And measures about 11.5" tall, 8.5" wide at the base, and about 5 3/4" deep at the base. The casing is in excellent condition. And the clock works fine. I cannot attest to the timing, however, so you'll have to adjust it on your own. There is no key accompanying this clock. But it does wind and work fine. The clock has two gongs/ hammers on the inside. And it makes a gong every quarter hour. It gongs the appropriate number of times on the whole hour. The casing is made of wood. The frame of the front glass is brass or bronze. And the dial is metal, perhaps brass as well. On the back of the inside of the rear door it reads"Made ... morein Germany" There are some clockmaker's scratch marks on the back of the rear door near the top. antique French inlaid wood clock Made in France with convex glass
Here is an unusual table top(or mantle) wood cased clock that was Made in France I believe the wood is inlaid. But I am no expert when it comes to wood. Overall it is in excellent condition. And measures about 9 5/8" high, 8" wide at the base of the brass legs. The only markings I found on it were"Made in France" on the back of the movement. As well as the numerals I show you in the pictures above. The clock is in working order. And does not use a pendulum or need a key. As you can see in the back the winder is part of the movement itself. On the very top of the movement is that wheel that spins back and forth just like a watch. The clock works fine. But I cannot attest to the timing of it. There are some nice accenting brass ball finials on top. And all four legs are made of brass as well. There are two pillars in the ... morefront that have brass finials on top and bottom I am quite sure the dial is porcelain. But I cannot be sure. I have tried looking for any cracks or breaks in it but I could not find any, so that makes it even more difficult to determine if it is porcelain. The hands look like brass. And the convex glass in front. the glass is surrounded by a brass frame. The casing on the bottom right is a little loose. A small bit of glue will hold it well. But I will leave that to you. You can also see on the right side there is a small sliver/piece of wood that is missing. Not that noticeable but I thought I would point it out just the same. Up for auction is an antique pressed oak gingerbread style kitchen mantle or shelf clock. It is 22 in. high. 14 1/2 in. wide and 5 in. deep. The face is marked Made by The E. Ingraham Co. Bristol, Conn. U.S.A. The movement is marked E. Ingraham Co. Bristol, Ct. U.S.A. There is a 2 and 16 on either side of the mark, which stands for Feb. 1916 when the clock movement was manufactured. There is a newer key included which fits and works fine. The clock runs fine, but stops after running awhile. It gongs on the hour and the half hour. I decided not to wind it to see how long it would continue. The Clock is superbly decoration with serves French porcelain scenic panels all around and to the sides. The Clock is also richly gold gilt throughout. And is solid bronze. The Clock also has a wonderful and unique figural top with two cherub boys playing with a turtle. The Clock has its original quality movement which is signed by the fine period French maker Japy Freres. When I picked up the clock at the estate is was in good working order. And rings on the half and full hours. To be safe for the auction I will assume the clock may need a servicing or light cleaning to keep perfect time, which I am sure has not been done in some time. The Clock itself is in very fine condition showing very light wear to the panels, and no chips, cracks, missing pieces, or repairs. ANTIQUE DANIEL PRATT READING MASS. WEIGHT DRIVEN EGLOMISÉ BOTTOM TABLET ~ TALL COLUMNED CLOCK! Gorgeous estate collection clock. 1835-58 period of Daniel Pratt clock manufacture in Reading. Mass. Federal style columned shelf clock with wooden works.Pratt was known for his economical"groaner works" 30 hour clocks which he provided to rural families as a marvelous alternative to telling the time by the sun. This clock has had some refurbishing.we note some fresh wood mounts for the dial.the hand made wood dial appears to be of the period but adjusted to accomodate the current movement arbors. Whether the dial is original or the movement is original, or both we do not know. The movement has fresh wood shims, so although old and an original Pratt, it may indicate replacement or at the least remounting. The exterior of the case ... moreshows the original finish, including the black columns with gold embellishment. We do have some veneer loss as you can see in our posted photos(front bottom left corner as viewed) We will provide you with a piece of wood from the era that will allow for some veneer to be cut from it and replace the existing loss. General age with some scratching here adn there is noted. Top of the case shows the traditional Pratt bell assembly, however, the bell is missing. Inside we note several mounting holes which may or may not have been used for wall mounting. The eglomise' or reverse painted glass tablet is in beautiful condition and although we see no evidence of change out, we do not know if it is original to the clock. Top pane dial cover glass appears to be in very good condition with no chips or cracks. Doors open and close well.stays closed with a good closing clasp. Dial has clear numbers and beautiful original hands in place.minor age yellowing noted as well as general usage noted.nothing major or that truly detracts other than the aforesaid plugs to the arbors. Vintage/Antique Sessions Marble Art Deco Electric Mantle/Table Clock- Works! Up for bids is a Vintage/Antique Sessions Marble Art Deco Electric Mantle/Table Clock. This Clock is made by Sessions and is marked Model"W" In back. The clock is Gorgeous! It features a 10"x 3" x 1" thick marble base and a 7" diameter(3/4" thick) marble disc around the clock works. There are 2 round ball marble pieces on both sides of the clock. The balls are about 1.5" in diameter. The white marble has some reddish brown streaks. The base has a felt backing to protect the surface of the mantle. The clock face is metal gray with gold tone numbers. Black hands, and a red sweep second hand. The clock housing case is also gold tone. This clock is very heavy and has an electric cord in the back. The condition of the clock is near ... moreperfect! There is one very small chip in the back of the clock at about 1:30. Up for auction is an antique Waterbury black mantle shelf clock. It is 11 in. high. 16 1/2 in. long and 6 in. deep. The back paper label shows it is the Delray model circa 1915. There is also a partial paper label with Directions for setting the clock. There is a partial paper label on the back door showing it was sold by L.D. Clapham& Co. Jewelers and Opticians. The movement is marked Waterbury Clock Co. U.S.A. This clock runs and keeps good time. It only gongs on the half hour. We have not been able to get it to gong on the hour. We do not have a clock repair shop. There is a newer key included that works fine with the clock. Please look at all the enlarged pictures as they are part of the description. Austrian Neoclassical gilt bronze mounted. Parcel gilt and ebonized, fusee, grande sonnerie 18 th Century fusee bracket clock in amazing condition. C. 1775-1790. Arabic dial inscribed Joh: Zirnig Stadt gros Enzerstorf. With landscape rondel above, and dials on either side inscribed Repedirt/Nicht(repeating/silence) and Nicht/Schlagt(silence/striking) Time, strike and repeat movement, housed within an upright rectangular case with flame finials, cusped bell top and scrolled handle incorporating fantastic phoenixes or firebirds, all on tapering bracket supports. The single fusee works and grande sonnerie chimes are in working order. The case. Giltwork and ebonized finish are flawless, with no cracks or chips. The finials are original and in excellent condition. A striking feature of this clock is the elaborate The works and chimes are visible ... moreon three sides. They can be viewed through round-top windows and stylish gilt scrollwork openings on either side of the clock(which also allow the chimes to be heard) And the back of the clock also has a window. The clock rests on four cast gilt feet. The dials are porcelain and in beautiful condition. With a few minor chips(visible in the images posted) on the main dial that do not affect the numerals or other markings. The landscape rondel features a very pretty pastoral country scene with two people standing by a stream with a bridge and watermill, rolling hills, trees, etc. The grand sonnerie chiming scheme can be enabled/disabled. One set of chimes signals each hour in the traditional way. With four chimes at 4 o’clock and so on. The other set indicates the quarter hour(one chime) half(two) three-quarter(three) and full hour(four) The clock keeps good time. But could benefit from a cleaning. The movement appears to be in working condition with the proper repairs as it has obviously been sitting for some time. It is weight driven by 2 heavy weight drive chains which I am including. The chains alone are very nice collectable parts. The frame measures 9" tall x 6" wide. If anyone out there knows about this clock I would love to know where it is from and how old it is. Fin e eight day French brass carriage clock circa 1870. Great original condition, just professionally cleaned& overhauled! This is a very nice Victorian brass carriage clock in just excellent condition. Dating to the mid 1800s. The clock has a turned carrying handle to the top with a beveled oval glass window to the top, the clock has beveled glass on all the other sides. The dial is in white enamel and has black Roman numerals, has the original winding key. T he clock ke eps wonderful time and is in great condition& has just been cleaned& overhauled by a professional horologist. Size is; 7" tall with handle up x 5.2" tall with handle down x 3.5" wide x 3.25" deep. A fine antique brass carriage clock circa 1870 in fantastic condition. I am most happy to answer any questions.
