The large crate's capacity is 7 1/2 dozen eggs and has 3 pulp fiber cardboard separators each holding 30 eggs. The medium crate's capacity is 5 dozen eggs and has 2 pulp fiber cardboard separators each holding 30 eggs. The small crate's capacity is 1 1/2 dozen eggs and has 2 pulp fiber cardboard separators each holding 9 eggs. T hey were used on farms for gathering the Hen's eggs from the chicken coop that were to be sold. The eggs would be transported to the Country Store or Market in these to prevent the breaking of the eggs. They are constructed with a sturdy wood slat design with a wire and wood handle on the secure lock top. The top's design is made to not come off while they were being carried. This is a beautiful vintage Arbuckles Coffee wooden crate. It measures 23" long x 12 1/2" tall x 19 1/4" wide and is in good condition for its age. The graphics are on both sides of the crate- on one side the graphics are very clear and still quite bright. On the other side the graphics are a little duller but still very legible. There are typical dings and nicks but nothing major at all. Several board slats were taken off of the bottom of the crate by the original recipient to remove the contents. It measures 12-1/4” x 17-1/4” and stands 6” high. An inside corner identifies it as“1955 Chattanooga. It has splits in bottom boards and is missing interior dividers.
