Here is an empty vintage wooden shotshell crate of Loaded Shotgun Shells from the Robin Hood Ammunition Company. Swanton VT, for 12-ga shotshells, but the load is not imprinted on the box. The crate once held 20 boxes of Robin Hood shells. The crate is fingerjointed and the bottom is nailed. Outer dimensions are 15” x 9 ½” x 8 7/8” inner dimensions are 13 ¼” x 8 ½” x 8 1/4” One side panel is in excellent condition. The Robin Hood logo is clearly visible as are the other imprints. The opposite side panel is also clearly marked, but the Robin Hood logo is somewhat obscured by two knots in the wood. One end panel is clearly stamped, but the other end was imperfectly planed or dried and the wood has some fungal stain. Ogden Dairy was a Chicago based dairy distributor. Unknown when it ceases to exist. This wooden milk crate was found in an old painters garage. He obviously used it to store his paints. That is what those white spots are. It needs cleaning. But the wood is not rotting. It does have rust on the reinforcing metal. The crate is in fair shape. Rare wooden 2-liter Coca-Cola crate with 6 glass bottles, original caps, nice NR
We were pleased to acquire this set at an estate sale recently. It is a vintage wooden Coca-Cola crate designed to hold 2-liter bottles. Included are six bottles in the traditional Coke green glass with the original metal caps. The bottles. Which hold 67.6 ounces or two- iters, are in fine shape. Several show some case wear- one a bit more than the others- but none is severe. There are some small areas of fading to the paint on some bottles, but overall the condition is very good. Each is dated 1976 and shows some caramel-colored content stain, which likely is cleanable. We found a spot on the heel of one bottle that we thought was a chip, but closer examination shows that it likely was a manufacturing defect because the edges are smooth, not sharp as one would expect from a chip. A scan shows the affected area. Otherwise, there are no chips, ... morecracks or dings. Each bottle has its original cap. Three feature the original price stickers- faded. So we can't read the price- and all show some handling wear, but otherwise are in nice condition. The wooden crate is in the traditional red with the white"dynamic strip" under the words"Coca-Cola" and 2L in white on the sides to indicate that it is a two-liter carrier. There is some use wear. But the colors are strong and there is no damage. The scans show both sides of the crate, as well at the interior and bottom. To accommodate the taller 2-liter bottles, it is about an inch taller than those for smaller bottles. Innovations in the use of plastics spelled the end of the glass soft-drink bottles and the wooden crates to hold them. The perfection of the blow-molding process led to the use of plastic for bottles in the late 1970s. Soon after that. Plastic crates were introduced to hold the plastic bottles, and wooden crates disappeared. Finding a wooden 2-liter crate is hard enough these days. But to find one complete with six glass bottles and their original caps is truly rare. We offer this item with no reserve. Please read"Shipping and Payment
