This is a wonderful combination Old N New. Crate originally belonged to Sorrell's Brothers Packing Co in Florida that started in the 1940's and are listed in the Florida Historical Society Pages. We loved this piece so much and wanted to be able to display it and turned it into a working Bench without altering the original Crate at all. Size: 18 1/2" long X 12" wide X 3 1/2" deep Carrier is in good condition. Wood dividers intact, 1 is splintered but useable for display(see photos) Paint and wood wear due to age and use but red is good color red. Vintage Wood and Metal Framed Milk Crate/Box
Vintage wooden milk crate with metal bottom and all edges. Looks like the wood had been painted at one time but it wore off with years of use. The metal has a great patina. One little spoke on the bottom is bent. Can be pushed back if you want to. Causes no problem. Cannot read the brand but it once was on the crate. It is 13" square and 10 1/2" tall. This looks to be from before 1900. This company was in business in Albany NY and surrounding areas producing many crackers and"biscuits" or cookies. I understand this is one of the companies that merged into become Nabisco. This is a great grocery and Americana collectible. Used condition(obviously) The labels are mostly there(front and under lid) The lid is still attached(one hinge is apart and the boards are loose on top) The bottom is still pretty solid. Looks like this box was made in Troy NY and was probably displayed in a local store as point of purchase advertising and a shelf/container for the packs(or bulk) of crackers/biscuits. Needs some care. Wood could use cleaning. Paper is loose in a couple spots. For display. Many people poly the labels on to cover and protect. This would stop the peeling.
