Vintage Set of Maruni Ware lacquer lamps on metal base with inlaid abalone NR
For your consideration is a pair of Vintage MaruniWare lamps. These lamps are marked on the bottom. They do not say Occupied Japan and I have a picture of these lamps from 1950 in my parents first home. They were a gift from my father's brother who was stationed in Japan at the time of their wedding. They are beautiful and in good condition. They are handmade so although the inlays are very similar on the lamps. They are not identical because of the handmade nature. The inlays are Abalone or Mother of Pearl. The lamps stand just about 11" tall. They would need rewired and a harp and lampshade. The base of each lamp twists off. I will wrap each lamp carefully and insure the package as well. There are three flip up pages that contain sealed beam and miniature light bulb replacement information for antique and vintage passenger cars from Buick- Willys. Trucks from Ahrens- Willys from around 1936 through 1953. This informative 7" x 10" placard even covers car radio, glove compartment and misc. lamps. Up for sale is a pair of vintage Schlitz beer light up globe with lady wall sconces. They measure 17" × 7" and both have the mount bracket on the back of them they are both in good condition they do not have any cracks or breaks in them but they do have some ware in the gold paint as but they are both in working condition and still look good. A prolific importer and seller in Christmas lights in the 1930s, 40s and 50s. They made many sets that have practically disappeared from circulation. They used shunted and non-shunted bulbs, made in Japan. Some Japanese bulbs were shunted bulbs. When shunted bulbs were used and burned out. And the rest remained lit, but the other good bulbs will burn brighter and also burn out quickly, if the bulb is not changed. An attempt to solve the burnt out lamp problem in series wired sets came to us from Japan. Patented in 1929. The XL lamps contained a shunt device ... morethat allowed the rest of the light string to remain lighted should one or more lamps burn out. While the invention worked to keep the string lit, it was not successful from a practical point of view. When a bulb failed, the remaining seven on the string would receive considerably higher voltage, shortening their life. If the failed lamp was not replaced quickly, the stress on the remaining lamps soon took its toll. DESCRIPTION. This is a Vintage RELIANCE 8 Light C-6 Christmas Light Set with Japan Multi-Shaped Lamps/Bulbs. The Cat. No. is not marked. The are no clips on the sockets. Some of the bulbs in this set may be shunted bulbs. It contains black sockets and green plastic covered wires. This was produced in the 1930's. The set operates in series. Which means when one bulb burns out or becomes loose, the rest go out. There is an exception if the bulb is shunted, then the rest will stay lit. Since these C6 Japan bulbs are very hard to find in good shape, a dimmer device would save these bulbs a lot longer and still give you enough light. The box originally contained an electric string of 10 flashing blubs with the shades. It now contains ONLY the shades. There are NO lights or electric string. Two different sets have been grouped together and placed in the box. So now it contains 16, of two different types. I'm not sure if these shades can fit onto any string of lights or not. You may need to use pipe cleaners or something else to attach them. A few of them have a single. Loose bulb inside. The bulbs probably don't work. Condition: The metal parts have bends and some are asymmetrical. Some are missing tassels or have damaged tassels. Some tassels are dark red. And some are light red. This auction is for a set of 2 very cool vintage swag cylinder hanging lamps. The colors are brown tones and when lit are beautiful golden hue. The lamps are 18 in in length and 6in in diameter. The stone used to make these is agate. The coating used to cover the lamps looks as though it is cracked or chipping(as seen in pics) but it is actually underneath the coating. I want to say an acrylic overcoat was used) The surface is still smooth to touch on the agate the smaller stones that surround the agate are rough in texture. When hanging and lit the under cracking does not effect the beauty of these retro lamps. The inside is a white plastic cylinder. Up for auction are a Pair of Vintage Wall Hurricane Lamps They are white with yellow flowers and the bases are a black metal. They measure approximately 11” tall. The shades have some roughness and maybe some chips on the bottom. They are hidden inside the lamp. There is an on/off switch on the base. The switches may have been added as the wires are taped. Vintage Czechoslovakia/Bohemian Painted Flowers White Cut Ruby Stain Glass Lamps
Here is a beautiful pair of vintage/antique art glass table lamps. I believe they are Czechoslovakian or Bohemian glass. They are a type of white cased glass with oval and circle cuts to reveal a ruby color that I think is flashed on the inside. The cuts were outlined with gold paint and the white areas are painted with very pretty colorful flowers and foliage. Many circle of the gold paint has worn off. As you look near the top skinny part some of the ruby coloring is missing and shows more of clear color on the one lamp. The other lamp still has most of it's ruby color. But the red area inside is more encased in a tube that holds the lamp cord and in between it looks almost lavender colored. The lamps have a decorative brass or gold tone metal openwork base. There is a cut hole on the back bottom of each lamp, I think this is maybe ... morewhere either the original cord was or maybe a hole to add that red coloring on the inside. One lamp is missing the finial from the top. The lamps have old matching shades on them from Leonard R Foss. They are stained yellow and have a smoke odor, so if you do not want the shades let me know and I can reduce the shipping amount accordingly. Total height to the top of the finial is about 26 3/4" tall. The bases are about 5" wide. As you can see both lamps are in working condition. Light bulbs are not included. Gorgeous vintage lamp pair. The real deal. Heavy, solid. Clear glass, bases look like big ice cubes. Thick, clear glass shapes(4) four glass shapes on each lamp with silver toned separators. Silver toned shaft inside goes through the glass shapes. Bottom cube has a"half moon" cut out of glass in back for cord. Note there are different switch types on the lamps. One is a push on-off toggle and the other lamp has a round turn on-off knob. Some areas of clouding. Few areas where debris accumulation in between middle shaft and glass layers. All layers of glass and separators do come apart if you want to further clean them, but make no mistake. ... moreThey look really nice as they are. THESE LAMPSHADES and the LIGHTBULBS are NOT INCLUDED. The shades are old and soiled but I love their vintage shape and use them in photographs to show how nice the lamp looks with a shade on it. Lamps are 12" tall from base to top of socket where bulb would screw in. With the shades in the photo they came to about 17-1/2" tall. EACH LAMP weighs a little over 2-1/2 lbs. Yes there are some small fairy bites and small sliver chips here and there on the bottoms of the bases.Which confirms these are REAL vintage and not a reproduction. Nothing major in the way of chunks missing or cracks, just small signs of wear typical for vintage. The edges of the glass bottoms feel"rough" when you run your finger around them. The cords are old and need to be replaced as the plug is the old non grounded type. The lamps do work as they are but for safety purposes cords and plugs should always be replaced on vintage lighting. Photographs are the most important element of this item's description. This is a vintage/antique Art Deco set of unique hanging wall light sconces. I believe them to made of aluminum cast. Some of the paint on the wall mounts has worn and on the end tip of the lights. They have a wonderful bird design and have a lot of character. They have a wonderful round style. I believe them to be outside lights but would look wonderful inside. The mount measures about 7" from the wall to the fixture x 5" in diameter. The hanging light measures about 15" long x 24" around.
