Large antique glass ornate victorian finial lamp lighting rod VINTAGE old RARE
This is an antique piece of glass I have had for some time. I believe it is a finial of some sort. Possibly a lighting rod end but appears to nicely made for that. My guess is some type of lamp or chandalier. Solid glass except for the hole at bottom which is 7/8" diameter and 3 1/2" deep. The flat area at bottom is 1 1/2" diameter. Piece stands 5" high and 4 3/4" diameter at center. There is one very small chip on the edge of a flue( see picture where my finger points) Very lovely piece of antique glass.

The glass balls are not smooth but grooved. A goldtone metal rod runs up and down the length. And in the middle is a slim metal rod. The metal may be brass or a brass alloy. The bulb hangs downward instead of upwards, and the shade sits atop the upside-down bulb. The lamp has been rewired and has a brass pull chain socket with a fancy ruby and amber glass bead pull on the chain. The lamp has a gorgeous pierced brass shade ring which is decorated with 34 strands of crystal lustres. I used a short round standard watt light bulb in this lamp which doesn't extend down beyond where the crystals end. These decorator bulbs can be found in any home center or home depot. Whoever converted this lamp did a great job-it has a small switch on one side and works great. It still has the look of an oil lamp, with the receptacle still intact inside. It is brass and cast metal. The cord is cloth of a gold color. There is an abundance of embossed figuring, with faces of a woman in 4 raised medallions(at the top) and 4 cherubs near the base; with lots of curlicues, flowers swirls and plentiful piercing of metal. The base feet look like animal paws. It did not have a shade when I bought it, but I used a large frosted hurricane shade, because it has the 4 clamps to hold it. STUNNING ORIGINAL VICTORIAN CRANBERRY GLASS ETCHED GLOBE LAMPSHADE FOR OIL LAMP VICTORIAN CRANBERRY GLASS AND ACID ETCHED GLOBE OIL LAMP SHADE A beautiful acid etched. Shaded cranberry glass shade with a stunning Art Nouveau repeat pattern design to the main body. The moulding to the glass is exquisite at the bottom of the shade are two rows of internal convex circles. Above this the internal moulding appears to be in vertical segments following the shape of the shade. At the same time these are interspersed by clam shell type decoration coming down from the top apperture, really hard to explain and even harder to photograph! However the overall effect is very fluid and delightful in its design. It stands approximately 18.5cm high. The apperture of the base is 10.1cm. A 4" fitter. Condition overall is excellent and the shade is free ... morefrom any hairlines. A few bubbles in the glass commensurate with the age of the glass and manufacture. Some tiny fleabites to the base fitter rim and the top opening apperture commensurate with age and use. On or two clear air bubbles and one which can be felt internally on the shade as a slightly rough tiny area as it has burst on the surface. In no way detracting from the overall beauty of this shade but mentioned for accuracy. All other visual marks in the photographs are from the light source. Original Antique Victorian Cast Iron Wall Sconce Oil Lamp Holder Mounted On Wood
Original Antique Victorian Iron Wall Sconce From Whitechapel. London Taken from a building renovation in the late 1990s and possibly the only one of its kind left from the area Description: Hello. This is an original antique Victorian wall sconce taken from Whitechapel, London, in the late 1990s. The item was on the ground floor of a building on New Road that was undergoing renovation from residential to commercial property(the street although once home to many in Victorian London now has many takeaways. Halal restaurants and cafes) The tenant was having a shop sign fitted to the front and when asked if the sconce could be removed from a covered side courtyard type entrance he happily agreed. The person who removed the sconce was the shop sign fitter. And fully aware of the significance of the item, kept it in his garage where it has remained ... moresince. There are no sconces left on buildings in Whitechapel- most having been damaged or thrown away- and it is very rare to find an original example of one from this area of London. Whitechapel is after all. The most notorious part of London having been the since of the Jack the Ripper murders. Although the sconce was retrieved from Whitechapel, the building's tenant did not know the history of the item such as how long it had been on the building, or when it was put there. In any case. Thankfully the sconce was rescued and persevered. It could now make an excellent collectors piece, or garden decoration for a large candle or hanging basket. Condition: The sconce has been repaired at the base part of the hinge. Look at the pictures and you will see a small patch of light metal that has been welded on to join together the two parts that had suffered a crack. The metal is pretty rusted and the oak wood mount is worn in places. It still functions and moves freely on the hinge. Shipping: All items are dispatched the next working day after payment. Available is a beautiful agate glass ball floor lamp. I don't know the year it was made. I suspect the late 1900s. It is nice and sturdy. And very attractive. The lamp stands about 57 inches tall. I find only the numbers 551 on the bottom. There is a thin film of rust on the bottom. See photos. The lamp is being sold in as-is, as found condition. It works. The socket is loose but I was able to twist it back in place. If you decide to use the lamp without having it re-wired, you do so at your own risk and agree not to hold me responsible. I have made the auction buyer pick-up. However. I am willing to work with you on shipping. I believe I could find a box to ship this is. Due to the odd size of the box, shipping could be expensive. Weighs 10 pounds. 9" iron base. 55" tall, 11 1/2 arm length. Light rust on cast iron base& cast bridge. Center pole is brass with a nice patina. There is a round marble decoration in the center of the pole- there are few superficial chips in the marble that adds to its antique look. There is a 12" piece of the original cord woven into the bridge arm- it is not usable. If you would like the lamp rewired I can do that for you- $20 additional for parts& labor. No markings on base.
