The markings on the back ... moreof both the saucer and the plate(6 Kanji characters) may help the antique collector determine the date range for this fine piece of porcelain. Similar pieces on antique websites have been listed as being from the 19th century or earlier. I am unfamiliar with determining the age. All three pieces are painted in the traditional colors of the Arita Imari region. Such as, cobalt blue, iron red and emerald green. There is a very generous use of gold or gilt detailing in the panels the rims/edges and the tea cup handle. The Chrysanthemum is the predominant flower in the design. The Chrysanthemum in the larger plate is also complemented by a molded relief pattern in the porcelain. There are 16 panels to the design around all three pieces. On both the plates the panels are complemented by a lovely scalloped edge. Similar to the Chrysanthemum. The 16 panels are molded into the porcelain. Note the outstanding. Painted blue border under both the saucer and the small plate. The cup is 3-1/2" diameter The saucer is 5" diameter The plate is 7" diameter CONDITION: These pieces have been gently handled and used for display. The gilt remaining on all three pieces is over 99% with the largest plate almost at 100% The saucer has some tiny areas of gilt scraped from border(seen with magnification) but is still over 99% for the entire piece. The saucer has some light crazing in the center(front) seen with magnification and on the back seen with naked eye once I found it with the magnification I would appreciate hearing any information you have about this piece. Inspect the photos and the description to determine if the condition meets your satisfaction. Please let me know if you have any questions. A beautiful Vintage Japanese Kutani Porcelain Tea Set with five Cups and Covers. Which I'm selling for a dear friend of mine. This wonderful set is beautifully hand painted& gilded with an impressive landscape scene and signed. It's a very impressive Tea Set and is in very good condition, other than one of the cups having a chip on it's lip which measures 3/8 inch long and 2/8 inch deep(see photo#12) not that noticable with the lid on. The Tea Pot measures 3 3/4 inches tall, 6 inches long at it's handle and it's bowl is 4 1/2 inches in diameter. The Cups are 3 inches tall, 3 3/8 inches in diameter and 3 5/8 inches in diameter at it's lid. This Set would look wonderful in a China Cabinet(you can turn the damaged cup toward the back) or one could use it. WOW! Great set! Beautiful pottery. Functional and stylish! The cups can be used for Tea cups or Sake cups. They are a lovely set by themselves, but the pot is incredible! I looked over all pieces thoroughly and found no flaws! I took several pictures of the inside of the teapot, so you can decide for yourself~there is a brown color on the inside. I can't decide if it is a tea stain or from the glaze. Personally I am leaning toward the glaze. From the looks of the filter along the spout, it seems like the glaze was running over it. This vintage famille rose tea set includes a pot and two cups. All in beautiful condition. The cups and teapot have no crazing or chips. The paint finish is perfect with no wear of the decorations. The set has been well cared for and though used, has no staining in the pot or cups. The design is the Chinese royal court pattern with cabbage roses on the other side. FAMILLE ROSE ANTIQUE CHINESE TEAPOT AND FOUR TEA CUPS - EXCELLENT CONDITION
Famille Rose Chinese teapot and four teacups are in excellent condition. There is gold wash on the upper rim and on the spout and the handle. The teapot does not appear to have any tiny chips but the bottom rim on which it sits is a little rough. On the bottom surface are the words"made in China" The four cups consist of two that match and are very slightly smaller than the other two. Which match each other. The larger cups are marked"China" and the slightly smaller cups are marked"made in China" In the photos I have shown both the front and the back design of the cups. The teapot is about 6 1/2" tall including the top knob and about 7 1/2" wide including the spout and handle. I can send more photos if necessary.

Over the glaze they have a scene with trees and pagodas hand painted on. I believe they are porcelain. The glaze is crazed. And there are places where it is thick& heavy, both inside and out, and those is a bit yellowed, both have a couple raised specks in the glaze. They are in beautiful condition, no chips or cracks. From the Late 1800's- Very Early 1900's Pair of Very Thin Porcelain Tea Cups Blue Transferware porcelain tea cups from Grandma(1896-2000) May have been her Mother's since they were packed in with old ironstone plates(some dating back to the 1860's/70's. Fine translucent walls to cups. If held to light the exterior design is very visible from the inside. Phoenix with tendril vine design. Bottoms have very very light use wear. Top lip on both cups has coarse natural feel all around with no chips or cracks. Handles are dainty with vine design. 1 weighs 3 ounces. The other 2.5 ounces with both measuring 3.75 inches across the top lip. No maker's marks so these could be from before 1891 when our Congress passed laws that demanded foreign wares be marked with country of origin.
