But slightly oblong in shape and the clay is slightly lumpy) 19th century 3 gallon salt ... moreglazed crock with bold cobalt leaf designs. It is sturdy, solid, and has a molded handle both sides. Due to age, the color of the clay has a slightly patchy appearance from discoloration. One of the handles has a few small flakes, but there are no other chips on the crock. There are three short cracks on the top edge that don't go all the way through the clay and look like they might be splits from firing. One very fine unnoticeable hairline on the top edge is slightly visible inside and out and is probably a true hairline from damage, but it is very difficult to see. All cracks are shown in the photos. There are two yellow streaks in the glaze on the front, also shown in the photos. They are part of the glaze and happened during manufacture. The crock measures 11" in diameter x 10 3/4" H. It will be packed securely in a double box and insured during shipping.

Stoneware Salt Glaze Decorated Crock Cobalt Blue Primitive Canning Jar
We are offering a very nice antique salt glaze stoneware crock with cobalt blue decoration in a hard to find size. It measures approximately 7 ¼” tall with a 4 ½” diameter The crock does have old rim chips: One approximately ½” Two about ¼” each Tiny nicks to small to measure or see in a picture. The yellow area is in the glaze. The bottom has a few rough spots but no chips. The body has several glaze bubbles and manufacturer’s imperfections that are normal for stoneware of this age. Old Antique Stone Jug Crock Stoneware Painted Fish Flowers Persian Iran? Flask
Addition to listing: After more research it appears to be Persian. Possibly Iran? I am getting different information on the age. Some say 17th or 18th century others say early 20th century. This listing is for an old Stone Jug. I don't know the history of it or who it was made by. I am hoping someone can help identify the maker or any information would be helpful. It appears to be stone with an enamel coating? It isn't perfectly symetrical. The jug stands about 6.25 inches tall. 4 1/8th across and 2 inches deep. I won it in a box lot at an estate auction. This splendid ceramic inhaler is an‘Eclectic inhaler’ and is described in the book entitled‘The Laryngoscope’ 1871 London) written by the famous physician Morell Mackenzie. He. In fact, refers to it as‘my Eclectic inhaler’ and goes into great detail of its working(see extract below) so he may well have been the inventor. Antique? Alabama Brown Glaze Stoneware Crock Jug Pottery Antique? brown jug with handle. Crock pottery whiskey Measures 8 inches tall. 6-1/2 inches wide; 20" around. There are several"imperfections" in the glaze and surface of the jug. There are some"scratches" which might be a signature which you can see in the 2nd picture, near the bottom, about the middle. The cork is inside the jug; it is falling apart. The cork fell inside the jug when I tried to remove it to see what might be inside. There is chip out of the bottom edge- see picture 11. Next to last picture. Weight is 4 pounds and 1 ounce. Background on this jug- This jug belonged to my stepfather who passed away several years ago. He was born in 1914. He was making and selling moonshine at the age of 10- for a nickel a bottle(if I remember correctly what he ... moretold me) He was plowing a 40-acre field at the age of 11- with a team of mules. I don't know when or where he acquired this jug. It sat on his front porch for years. You can look at the pictures and make your own judgment about the age. He lived in the Sand Mountain area for a while in his youth so he could have gotten it there.

Our small crock or jug was commercially used as a mercury container. The stoneware jug has its’ original cork with the original cork wire puller to avoid users having to actually touch mercury residue on the cork. The jug is stamped"MERCURY" in bold cobalt lettering and is in excellent condition with no chips. Discoloration nor cracks. There is crackling on some parts of the beige, mostly at the join of the two colors and the underside. Bottom Marked Minnesota Stoneware Co. Red Wing Crock with Shiny Glaze & Tie Ring
For your consideration is crock with a tie ring. This crock has a capacity of slightly more than one gallon. The tie ring is a groove around the top for a string or twine to hold in place a cloth. That is placed over the top, to shield the contents from whatever is in the atmosphere around it. This crock was manufactured by Minnesota Stoneware Co. This company was founded in Red Wing, Minnesota in 1883; in 1906 it merged with Red Wing Stoneware Co. to form Red Wing Union Stoneware Co. This crock has a shiny brown glaze that is almost black; which I assume was originally intended to be brown, but there was metallic elements in the clay or glaze that melted during a firing, causing the shiny, almost black appearance. The bottom marking, is probably the most distinct I have ever seen. This crock is slightly more than 6 3/4" tall and the ... morebottom is approximately 8" in diameter. This crock has glaze skips. On the rim is one very minor chip. On the bottom edge are nine minor to insignificant chips. On the rim, on the bottom edge and on the bottom are marks made with a marker. Hand Decorated Red Wing Stoneware Salt Glaze Crock w/ Kiln Stacking Marks
For your consideration is a two gallon crock with a salt glaze exterior and Albany slip glaze on the interior. This crock was made by either Red Wing Stoneware or Minnesota Stoneware. Both companies were located in Red Wing. Minnesota and they used the same designs often. The two companies merged in 1906, but that was 10-16 years after this crock was made. The 2 and the target were both hand drawn with a slip cup; a slip cup is like a squeeze bottle that will not squeeze. On the bottom of this crock are marks that show it was placed atop smaller items while being fired. This crock is almost 9 3/4" tall and the bottom is 9" in diameter. This crock has 0 cracks, however it does have three chips around the edge of the bottom; two of the chips are quite large and one is very small. On the interior, is a white substance that I have not identified. For your consideration is a five gallon crock that was made by Red Wing Union Stoneware Company of Red Wing. Minnesota. On this crock the 4" wing and the 5 are very bold. The oval is 2 1/4" wide and has standard wording and decoration. This oval and wing combination of wing and oval was used from around 1917 to 1933. This crock was made without handles. This crock is slightly over 13" tall and the bottom is almost 12" in diameter. This crock does have rust stains on the interior's bottom. Approximately 120 degrees from the front is a crack. This crack starts at the top rim and runs vertically for approximately 7 1/2" Approximately 160 degrees from the front is a barely perceptible chip.
