Some chips one on the out side upper rim and one in the inside rim see pics, a few chips on the bottom and a large press mark on the bottom from when the clay was wet this is a factory blem. Previous owner must have tried to fix, I did not, do not know how. Wish I did. The size is 10 3/4 in. tall and 9 1/2 in. across. I measured from end of one rim to end of the other. Nice brown glaze on the inside. There is nothing really wrong with handle, just looks odd. Fleabites. Glaze drippings. This item will ship insured with delivery confirmation. Antique 1800's salt glaze tan and gray small crock. In good condition. There are no cracks. No chips, nice glaze. There are two spots on each side near the bottom that have glaze misses- probable when lifted from kiln. The crock is light tan salt glaze with gray here and there.The stoneware is from the 1800's. It is about 8 1/2" high. And about 7" in diameter at bottom. Purchased from a local estate auction. It is a nice decorative stoneware crock to add to your collection. Up for your consideration is this wonderful Alberta Potteries Ltd. 2 gallon stoneware crock. The maker's mark dates this to the original Alberta Potteries which was in business from 1935 to 1938, in Redcliff, Alberta. Alberta Potteries was Medalta's only competition at that time. This 2 gallon crock stands 10 1/2 inches tall and is 9 7/8 inches across the rim. The only issue I noticed is a 1 1/2 inch area of crazing on the rim. Of course there are imperfections from the maker of this crock, such ... moreas air bubbles in the glaze, a few areas where the glaze is missing- mostly along the top and bottom rims and inconsistencies in the glaze, including drips. There is a mis-placed piece of clay on the inside bottom that was glazed over. Of course these imperfections are what gives this crock it's appeal. I think there is a signature on the bottom, but I am not able to make it out. Please be sure to inspect all the pictures for condition before buying. As always. As identified in the Collector's Encyclopedia of Salt Glaze Stoneware. This auction is for a common pattern Daisy And Trellis Butter Holder. It measures 6" wide by 4.75 tall. Mint value $125- $175. There are six large daisies on a close trellis background. This is missing a lid and a bail which it held at one time. Bail holes for this mold were not made to go through to the interior. There is one fine hairline crack on the interior of bail hole placement that extends from top down approx 2.75" it is not visible on outside surface. APPLEBY & HELME Stoneware Snuff Jar Crock New Jersey Antique
Stoneware Jar APPLEBY& HELME This antique stoneware jar comes from the snuff manufacturers Appleby& Helme. Who operated out of Helmetta, New Jersey in the 1860s-1870's. The jar is 8 inches tall, 7 inches across at the bottom, and with an opening of 4 inches across at the top. The jar has the following impressed near the upper rim: APPLEBY& HELME? WATRE(sic) ST. S.E. COR. PINE The jar is in fair condition. There are chips and fine cracks. But the jar is still structurally sound and very attractive. It is a wonderful display piece. There is a big chip on the outside of the upper rim with a corresponding smaller chip inside the rim. There is another small chip about a third of the way around the rim from the others. There is a spot around the bottom edge where the glaze was thin or missed completely during firing and is discolored ... morenow with a small chip. There is a 3 inch long fine hairline crack from the rim down through the printed logo. There is a 1 inch fine hairline crack on the bottom edge. I have no idea how old this crock is. But it's old. Google says the Kaukauna Klub cheese pack crocks date back to 1933. I know smaller crocks are still available, but you can tell by the wire bail, which is very heavy duty, that this is an older vintage. This is a REALLY NICE PIECE of stoneware and has irregularities in finish from manufacturing process. Around the lid can be read, Western Stoneware Company Monmouth Illinois. Can be used today as a canister, the bail holds the lid very tightly) or just put it in a place of honor and enjoy looking at it. It is more than 6"tall including bail and has 6" diameter. 2 VINTAGE MINATURE STONEWARE POTERY CROCK JUGS MOHAWK LIQUEUR COFFEE DRIP CHERRY
Up for bid are two vintage minature Mohawk liqueurs. One says Coffee Drip and the other says Cherry liqueur. they have their original wax and paper seals but I do not know if there is still liquid in them or not. They have their original advertising mohawk stickers on the bottle. The brown crock shows a crackling finish. They both measure approx 3 1/4 inches tall. these are pretty nice and in pretty good condition for their age. Mohawk originated in 1935 for their first trademark. So these could have been made anywhere within that time period or shortly their after. Tese are in pretty nice condition with no cracks or breaks.
