THERE ARE NO CHIPS OR CRACKS AROUND RIM OR LID, WIRE BAIL HANDLE IS IN GOOD WORKING ORDER WITH VERY MINIMAL RUST. THE BOTTOM HAS SOME MAKERS FLAWS WITH A COUPLE OF CHIPS THAT DO NOT DISTRACT. It is a one-handled bean pot from a New England farm, and was made that way-handle is undamaged. The clay pot has damage-it has a flattish chip along the side of the top edge(see pics) and it has a crack going vertically down one side which branches below it to a horizontal crack near bottom-I have included close-up pic and several other pics identifying this damage for your inspection, this crock is not vintage but is older and antique(please see pics and be aware of the damage-sold'as is' Perhaps this old bean pot could be re-purposed into another piece or for use in a rustic art project. ZANESVILLE STONEWARE AMERICAN ART POTTERY BLUE CROCK JAR & LID 1930s-1940s MINTY
Up for auction is a Zanesville Stoneware Company(ZSC) of Zanesville. Ohio(1889 to 2002) Art Deco Era, American Art Pottery, Yellow Ware, Blue and White Stoneware, All Blue Crock-Jar and Lid in"Factory Mint" Possibly Never Used Condition, Circa 1930s, 1940s. This little crock-jar with its original lid has no chips. Cracks, glaze crazing, scratches, scuffs, stains or repairs of any kind. I'm stating"Factory Mint" condition because it does have a couple factory flaws which have been there since the crock and lid were removed from Zanesville Stoneware's kilns. Please use the"Super Size" and"Zoom" features to view this piece and you'll see exactly how it will display for you and any flaws or glaze anomalies. In fact the clay is a"yellow ware" stoneware so at some of the edges on the ... morecrock and lid you'll notice a little of the clay showing through. This can be considered normal and to be honest Zanesville Stoneware Company glazes are quite fascinating. I don't know the hands on processes of a pottery factory, but I do know that Zanesville Stoneware made everything from dinnerware to giftware to garden pottery and art pottery. What makes there glaze or glazing unique is that in their catalogs they might state an item comes in Blue, Matte Green or Rose. They didn't have the in between colors like light blue versus dark blue. It was just"Blue" and it would be a different shade of blue from batch to batch. I'm just using blue as an example, but it was that way with some of their colors, but some of their glaze colors were consistent. I really don't think it was poor quality control either. I think it had more to do with the local stoneware clay they used, but one thing's for certain. You could have three of the same vase shape and size-wise and they could all be blue for example, but no two of them would be exactly the same blue. Many of the Zanesville Stoneware Company's products truly were"one of a kind" pieces.

I'm almost 50" and I've never heard of it. Nor has other people that have actually lived in Louisville their whole life and they are older than me. I've googled it found that this was a company that sold crocks to the military after it had moved to St. Louis. The crock is an off shade of greenish brown. Crock has some chips threw out worst one on the outer rim, touch mark and burn mark on the side,a crack that runs from bottom up and turns to the right a few inches and stops, some cracks on the bottom and a few very tight lines here and there. All cracks have been sealed and crock rings like a bell. Factory flaws and blems all over with normal ware and tear. Bottom of crock has indentations, dents, gouges all over these are factory and glazed over. Crock has some discoloration and staining, one handle has some chips, crock is 100% stable. It has an unusual great green glaze and beautiful crazing. The bottom says Oven Ware and I know it is very old as it belonged to my Grandparents and Great Grandparents. I believe it is a Watt because the early pieces were marked Oven Ware in the 1920's(they opened in 1922) The concentric rings are also a Watt characteristic of that time period. It's a very earthy piece!

Up for your consideration is a vintage lidded bead pot stoneware crock with the Blue Crown Marking, it measures 6 1/2" high x 6" top rim, it is in very good condition with a small slight chip as shown, no other chips or cracks, if you need additional pictures please ask. Small antique crock/stoneware jug or bottle marked"Mercury" in blue under the glaze. Bottle is two-tone with a dark brown top and a light tan bottom. In the 1800's mercury was commonly used for the treatment of Syphilis. Also used for amalgam dental fillings. Mercury was also used in gold prospecting. Applied to a sheet of copper, the gold would collect on the copper, and later burned off, leaving the gold dust. Later bottles were marked poison. Antique Mercury Pottery Jug/ Crock. Here is an old vintage crock lid. Stone color with a blue ring round it, you can see a little error in the blue ring, it is not chipped or cracked, it actually measures just a hair over 3 1/2 in across the top, the knob is about 1 3/4 across. McCoy Pottery Vintage Covered Bean Pot with Handles This beautiful stoneware covered bean pot measures 6½" tall with the cover and is 8½" in diameter from handle to handle. Could also be used as a cookie jar! It has an excellent soft brown glaze with hand painted pink flowers with green leaves. The bottom is clearly marked with the U.S.A initials. It is not marked McCoy. However. Based on my research of other identical pieces, I believe it to be McC oy. I would welcome more information if you have some. It is in excellent collectible condition with no chips. Cracks. There is very light crazing that is commensurate with its age& is not visible unless you inspect VERY closely. The hand painted pink flowers are slightly worn. I t has the typical dry bottom rim flange and the usual glaze pinheads and a couple of rough ... moreclumps(see pics) This is such a gorgeous piece and has the less common soft brown glaze color.
