Antique Spelter Metal Statue of Lady - Greek Nymph Daphne, Bradley & Hubbard
Antique spelter faux-bronze patina statue of the lovely Greek Nymph Daphne in a diaphanous garment. Bradley& Hubbard, offered for auction. Based on a statue that appeared identical offered by an auction house(internet research) I assume Bradley& Hubbard is the maker. Note- the manufacturer was confirmed by another eBay member. The maker’s marks on the inside of the base(pictured) include“50 P” and“5810” and“1713. The appearance of bronze has been achieved by painting a lesser-quality metal(see grey color of patches where the paint has flaked off) again. Confirmed to me by the eBay member. The statue has some paint flaking. Corrosion, and what may be water damage, especially around the pedestal(pictured) There are patches where paint is gone(see photo of foot) The base is somewhat rusty and corroded. The statue needs to be cleaned ... moreand may need some restoration. I don’t want to do anything that could harm the value. So I am not giving it any treatment or cleaning. The branch is removable(guessing it represents laurel based on the Daphne and Apollo story) Measures appx 15" x 4-1/2" x 5" Weighs appx 5 pounds. Up for auction is an Antique Spelter-Bronze Napoleon statuette that dates back to the start of the 20th Century. This extremely rare piece belonged to my Great-grandfather who obtained it during the early 1900's and passed it on to my Grandfather who later passed it down to me. The statuette is made of metal(spelter/bronze) and considering that it's over 100 years old. It is still in fairly good condition. Some scuffs and fading/discoloration are evident, common with age. A Lovely Vintage French Art Deco Marble Table Desk Lamp Light Spelter Figure This is a really lovely vintage French art deco table or desk lamp. Typical of the French art deco period. It has a marble base with cast metal/spelter? figures of two small birds. It has a patterned pink floral glass globe shade. It has a net weight of just over 2 kg before packaging. It takes a bayonet type light bulb which is not included in the sale. The base measures approximately 25cm x 9cm x 2cm The overall height is approximately 14cm Condition The glass shade is in good condition. Free from cracks and having no wear to the gilding and frosting. It does have a few minor surface marks which are only noticeable on close inspection. The spelter birds are in good condition having no damage and are securely fixed to the marble base. The marble base at some point ... morehas been broken at one end(just below the shade area) and it has been repaired very well. The crack blends in fairly well with the veining in the marble and is almost smooth to the touch. The underside of the marble has been recovered with some foil. This item is wired with 2 core cable and has a'Zeppelin' on/off switch located midway on the flex and has a French two pin plug. As you can see it is in working order but I would advise you to have it checked before use. I take great care with my packaging using bubble wrap. Poly chips and strong boxes. Antique Art Nouveau Lamp- Dancing Young Girl Wearing A Hat With Painted Face- Working Condition I purchased this at an Antique/ Consignment Shop in the Charleston. SC area. The figure appears to be made of spelter and the lamp is signed at the bottom rim of the lamp(see photo 10) I cannot read the makers mark. It looks almost like a desk lamp. The metal extension that holds the shade and bulb are made of another metal other than spelter. The shade is not original to the lamp. The owner of the shop told me that the lamp belonged to a young woman who inherited it from her Grandmother. Her husband would not sell the lamp with the old frayed electrical cord. So he rewired the lamp with new electrical. There is felt on the bottom that is partially"unglued" I have no idea what the husband did to rewire this lamp. After having consulted a fifth-generation metal smith formerly of Boston. I was told this piece is a mid-19th century, probably French, urn/sculpture/epergne/statue with handmade bolts. There is a(perhaps copper) removable bowl on the top of this, which indicates it might've once been an early Art Deco lamp, French, with a wired globe attached. While my expert thought the piece spelter, there is a possibility it is lead in part. It is VERY heavy, twenty pounds. The patina is amazing! The last owner, a Florida state garden club president, must've won medals with this one! Perhaps it has been kept outside. Note minor flaw comments please. It also could use a bit of tightening. 1930's Lovely Spelter Table Lamp, Needs Minor Restoration to be a Beauty!
I'm not sure if this was original made to hold a stained glass type of shade. I just don't see enough vintage ones to know for sure. I think it dates to around the 1930's, and is made of spelter on the base with nice casting, and the harp is cast iron. The cap on top is split in several places, just needs a new one, the cast iron underneath is in good shape. The spelter base does have a small split at the very base, shown in the last photo that measures about 1" long. The cord is of course, shot, and will need to be replaced. This piece appears to be from a church or some place where it was cleaned and touched often. I believe the metal was originally silver toned and has worn off over the years. Probably dates to the early 1900s or before. Originally would have mounted to a wall or something else. ANTIQUE GILDED SPELTER WHITE METAL SLAG GLASS PANEL SHADE VINTAGE BOUDOIR VANITY LAMP An antique Boudoir Vanity Lamp Base that is made from spelter( or white metal) and appears to have the original gold finish. It has a raised decoration with swags of flowers and the original pull chain socket that is the size of a night light bulb. The original shade holder is still intact but is very rusty(see photo) It originally took a slag glass or panel lamp shade. The wiring is still old with the silk covered wire and should be changed(although this lamp is working with the old wiring) It measures approximately 11 3/4" high(to the top of the shade holder) x 4" in diameter at the base. The base. To the top of the pull chain socket, measures about 8 3/4" high. The shade holder is about 2 5/8" in diameter(the lip the shade sits on) ... moreand above that it is about 2" in diameter. Antique Pot Metal/Spelter Statue"Don Cesar" Don Cesar was a caporegime for the Ciudad Juarez Cartel. Don Cesar was present at Don Eladio's party at his mansion in Mexico along with several other capos. He joined in on the celebration by drinking tequila and mingling with the invited girls. The tequila was poisoned and Cesar died not long after drinking it. The statue was purchased at a local auction years ago. It is being sold as is. As found condition. I do know that Olive Bronze Rub and Buff has been rubbed on the statue. Someone told me statue was a"clock topper" but I do not know if this is true or not. Offered is a statuette of a young lady dressed in 1800's costume spinning yarn. The base is 6.5" long. 3.5" wide and the item is 7.5" tall. It appears to have been painted in bronze color at one time, as the back of her dress and some of the outer folds are bronzed. No dents, cracks, nicks or rubs anywhere. This is a original pair of nude art deco ladies. They are bookends made of spelter metal with a bronze color overlay. They are Nuart Frankart styled. They measure 4 1/2 inches in height and are 3 3/8 inches deep and 3 1/2 inches at the widest point. There are some condition issues. There is rubbing to some of the color but one has significant damage with a cracked base and missing some metal under the legs as shown in photo. With the only signs of wear being commensurate with age and use and basically consisting of paint rubs/chips here and there. He will make a really lovely vintage addition to any home. Vtg Cast Metal Panther Figurine Sculpture Bronze Spelter cougar leopard feline
Nice old wild feline in heavy metal measuring about 6" long. It is bronze colored with a bit of greenish patina on the underside. It is not magnetic. I thought maybe bronze although there is a small roundish area on it's right side(should be able to see it in the 1st and 6th photos) that looks a bit silver so possibly spelter or pot metal of some sort with a bronze finish. Seems pretty heavy for spelter so your guess is as good as mine. There are no makers marks or signatures that I could find so I do not know where. When or by whom it was made.

Each number is on a separate white porcelain cartouche and the colour is exquisite. Only damage I could find is one point on the back of the queens crown is missing but you can't see that usually. And one back leg seems a bit wobbly so be very careful when placing it on your mantle being careful not to push it around and it will be fine. The photos show all. It has a French movement with proper French pendulum and winds very smoothly on the one train. It comes with that original pendulum and a brand new brass key. Art nouveau. Art deco, neoclassical style lady lamp. 1900's through 1940. This figural lady lamp is made of metal, most likely spelter. A magnet does not stick to her body but does stick to the globe holder at the top. Nice solid weight to her. 16" from table to light socket. She needs a globe or shade. Most thrift stores have a section of globes fairly inexpensively. No markings anywhere. I have a vintage frosted globe for sale that would look perfect on this lamp but you would have to change the ring at the top at the globe is a bit larger. I will leave that up to you.
