Antique Leeds Peafowl Green Spatterware Sugar Bowl w Lid Pearlware

The lid is decorated with black scrolling branches, which match those on the bowl. In very good condition. The flange on the lid was invisibly restored and expertly done in my opinion. The particular peafowl on this bowl is reminiscent of one called"Dr. Seuss. documented and discussed on pp. 148-155 in the recent book, Feathers and Foliage: The Life and Times of the Pearlware Peafowl by George and Mickey Deike. Eight(8) superb Antique English Blue Willow Luncheon plates. They are 8" in diameter Maker unknown. Antique Staffordshire Pearlware Aesop's ABC Childs Plate The Wolf And The Crane
This auction is for a Lovely and Ultra Rare Antique Staffordshire Pearlware Aesop's Fables ABC Alphabet Child's Plate depicting the tale of"The Wolf and the Crane. The plate is Beautifully Designed and Decorated with the Alphabet around the border in Brown Transferware and the Fable depicted at the center with hand colored flourishes of Red and Green. The piece measures 6 1/2 inches across and dates to the 1880s. There are no makers marks. I believe it was made by Brownhills Pottery Co. But I am not certain. I have found very similar Aesop's Fables plates made by Brownshills, but despite my research, I have been unable to find another example of this Wolf and Crane tale anywhere. It was clearly produced by one of the potters who operated in the Staffordshire Region of England in the mid to late 1800s. The fable tells of a ... morewolf who promised a reward to the crane if he would remove a bone lodged in his throat. It Displays Wonderfully. There is fine. Even crazing as expected from pieces of this era. There is a chip on the underside edge of the plate(last photo) which can not be seen from a direct frontal view. Check out my!
