A early English(Staffordshire? pearlware tea canister with its lid. Transfer printed underglaze in blue with a chinoiserie showing four individuals in ... morea garden. Both sides show the same image. The blue is very dark and has somewhat run, looking like flow blue. The glaze has a distinct blue color all over. I have not been able to identify the image from the literature on transfer prints and blue and white. The shape is more common with 18th century creamware. I believe this to be a very early piece of transfer printed pearlware. Ca. 1780-1800. The earliest pearlware was imitating blue and white Chinese and English porcelain and often has a distinctly blue glaze due to the addition of cobalt to the glaze to get the blue color. As is common with early pieces from the 18th century, the canister is unmarked. Condition: The canister and lid are in good condition. With the following damages: Three small chips on de underside of the canister(see photographs of details) A scar to the glaze where the canister touched another object when it was fired Some fleabites Very fine crazing overall Lid: 2 hairlines each ca. 1/2” One chip and one firing crack, all to the sleeve and none of them visible when the lid is on the canister. No restorations. Total height with lid: 3 3/8 inches/ 8.5 cm Maximum diameter: 4 3/4 inches/ 12 cm Shipping and insurance: Buyer pays for priority mail plus additional insurance if needed. I will combine multiple purchases. Bidders outside the US please ask for a quote. Please note that from recent experience as an Ebay buyer I have noticed that some international shipping takes considerably longer than what Ebay indicates. Leaf and diaper pattern bands in blue, green and white. Size: 6 7/8" High- 7 7/8" Wide spout to handle Condition: Very Good- This jug is in amazing condition for its age. A couple of small nicks around the top of the rim(see pictures) a 1/16th" glaze nick about 1" from the spout(about 2'oclock) some light tan material in a couple of spots that I can only describe as something that looks like it might be adhesive and a very small piece of the foliate handle(left side- bottom handle) that has come off. I question if ... morethere was possibly a minor repair to the interior of the handle(If so extremely well done) since the material seems to be of a slightly different color. A very unusual small cream jug standing only 5.75 cm tall decorated under the glaze with a charming and slightly naive print of three young ladies having tea and conversing at a small circular table. Covered in a strongly tinted blue pearlware glaze which is uneven in places. This piece was definitely made at the Woodlesford pottery near Leeds. Yorkshire. It's very rare to attribute pieces to this pottery. See John Griffin's The Yorkshire Potteries on page 260 for this pattern with the same colour green print on toy tea set. I excavated this pattern at the pottery site. The shards came from the Shacklton, Taylor and Gibson partnership period. c.1849-1857 It has an old rim chip close to the handle. No other damage. No cracks or restoration.

rhusrluk rhusrluk Antique pottery in good taste– harmic.little A delightful English pearlware pottery flask modeled in the shape of a knobby potato with cobalt blue'eyes' and a blue washed neck; Staffordshire. Circa 1840. You will go a long time to have the chance to find a better English(I think they are ALL English) potato flask than this one! These simple. Very tactile flasks were made using a two-part mold. Quite why they were designed to look like a potato is not clear but they presumably found favor in small rural communities where they would have been used as containers for gin or whisky or some other spirit. They would fit snugly in a small pocket if you were out shooting in the cold weather and would provide a welcome warmer for the hunter on long days in the countryside. The flask is 6 1/4 inches long and is in really excellent ... morecondition- no chips. Cracks or restoration. A great item to collect or display. Fine Staffordshire Pearlware Prattware ~ HEARTY GOOD FELLOW TOBY JUG ~ c1790 NR
A Fine English Staffordshire Pearlware Prattware Toby Jug c1790 ~ Hearty Good Fellow Jug ~ Ralph Wood the Younger ~ 10 1/8" to top of his hat ~ 4 1/4" across the base ~ from his front arm to the back of the handle is about 5"+ A genuine 18th century Staffordshire toby jug with distinctive Wood family facial features and soft under glaze Pratt colors. The two Hearty Good Fellow jugs pictured in Griselda Lewis' Prattware book are slightly different than this model; one looks 20 years earlier and the other illustrated looks 20 years later. This jug looks more like her earlier model which she says is'such a lively and competent piece of modeling. The original may well have been by John Voyez or the younger Ralph Wood. This figure has the large eyes with impressed pupils. Articulated teeth and large hands of Wood family ... morefigures. He has almost identical decoration to an example from Leo Kaplan with blue spatterware or sponged jacket with ochre trim, ochre hat, blue flower dotted waistcoat and blue striped trousers. He is holding a small jug painted with a double ochre flower and in his left hand he holds a pipe(although the pipe is gone. This is in fantastic condition for 18th century pottery with no restoration or touch ups; there are 5 small chips around the inner rim of his hat which have darkened with age which makes them less noticeable. See close up pic. The handle is missing from his jug(the two terminals seen below) and I suppose his pipe rested in the spot on his right hand where the hole is; there is nothing missing or damaged on his left hand. This bit of damage seems like a technicality compared to the overall great effect of this jug. Which has a great presence and color display. There is very fine crazing to the pearlware glaze and the pottery is very clean. Thanks for looking. No Reserve! Please see the other English pottery/ porcelain/ Historical Staffordshire/ soft paste/ pearlware/ creamware I have listed

Antique 1860s Pearlware/Transferware Child's Mug Cup JOHN GILPIN on Horse w Poem
Antique 1860s Pearlware/Transferware Child's Mug Cup JOHN GILPIN on Horse w Poem Up for auction is a terrific antique approx. 1860s pearlware child's mug with a transfer of John Gilpin and his frantic horse ride with a section of the poem on one side. The story of John Gilpin is based on a real person that was first recorded in 1782 in a comic ballad by William Cowper called"The Diverting History of John Gilpin" The mug is 2.75" tall and 2.75" in diameter at the lip. As in the photos. There's a single chip on the bottom rim. No other chips and the paint accents are still vibrant. I purchased this at an estate auction. The portion of the ballad is the moment depicted in the transfer as his cloak flies away"The wind did blow, the cloak did fly like streamer long and gay. Till, loop and button failing both. ... moreAt last it flew away. Please note that my shipping time is up to 5 business days as I have multiple jobs and can only ship one day a week. Large bulbous shaped coffee pot with dome top cover, applied c scroll handle and long spout all printed in a dark blue transferware pattern of large flowers and fruit inside leafy shaped cartouches. The handle has a textured surface and printed with tiny white flowers. I think the nicest detail is the the printing of two plums? at the base of the spout(pictured. This is in beautiful display condition. It has several antique pottery issues but none of them really detract from its presence on a table or sideboard. The spout has a few tiny chips at the very edges. There is a chip out of the shoulder rim about 3/8" ... morepictured. The other side of the rim has a crack going down the inside about 4" that is only visible on the outside on the lip of the rim. The lid has several small chips around the outside of the base and one at the rim. This is barely seen when in place and the smaller ones are hidden inside the pot. The finial has never been off! and the handle is very strong with no faults. There is one tiny pottery firing flaw sort of a brown seed stuck in the middle that is original to the firing; see pic. Sold as found with its flaws but as it is found it looks pretty wonderful! This auction is for the coffeepot only. Thanks for looking. No Reserve!
