This is a lot of Belleek China in excellent condition- none of the pieces has any cracks or chips. The tall creamer is approx 4 1/4" tall and has the 4th Mark 1946-1955 with very light yellow band and on handle. The other Creamer and Sugar has the 6th Mark 1965-1980 with very light yellow ribbon, the plate is 8" wide and has a 6th Mark 1965-1980 with a yellow bow, the vase has the original box with pink at the top and gold bands and has the 7th Mark 1980-1993. ANTIQUE MID 19th C.ENGLISH PARIAN BLUE & WHITE Sm. PITCHER-CHERUBS W/ WINE
This pretty little pitcher measures 4" 10.2 cm) in height. 2 1/2" 6.3 cm) in diameter at the widest point and 3 3/4" 9.5 cm) from the end of the handle tip of the spout. The quality is very good. The parian embossed designs are very detailed, well formed and elevated. I feel this piece is English because Bennington signed most of their Parian and their detail was not as good. Also, the blue background has tiny pinpricks(or pinpoints) and, as on this pitcher, the English pinpoints were much more evenly spaced, linear and orderly than the wares of their American counterparts. Another clue is the fact that the pitcher was purchased in England fifty years ago. The inside is glazed, so it can be used without staining. One of the cherubs depicted on the pitcher has a large wine urn with a pointed base(amphora) and the other is holding ... morea cluster of grapes. The carved Parian bases that they sit on our also detailed. The background is covered in grape clusters, grapevines and leaves. Also depicted are two intertwining vines on either side of the handle, that flow into the design of the handle, which is also a large vine. The oversized thumb guard and the handle base are both grape clusters covered by large leaves. The handle is an exaggerated bracket shape and there is a nice Parian"foot" rim on the bottom of the pitcher. There are two blue dots on the bottom, as well as two sets of numbers. One set of incised numbers reads"66" and the other is"36" To the right of the"36" is a very lightly embossed symbol, that is very difficult to see. These pieces were done by other companies like T. J. J. Mayer and Minton. Minton did not always sign their Parian pieces, as with this one. Plus, they used symbols for different years. I have seen other similar pieces by Minton and the quality was the same. These pieces were made at the height of their popularity from 1845 to 1858. Unmarked. Possibly parian ware. Beautiful footed bowl with small porcelain roses inside just below the fluted rim. There are no seams and the shape of the fluted rim is not absolutely perfect, you need a good eye to spot it as it is not immediately obvious. Lovely garland and basket pattern on the outside. There is nothing chunky about this bowl, it is light and delicately made and is in undamaged condition including the roses. Measures 4ins diameter and 3ins tall. Please see my other items for sale. You are bidding on a RARE magnificent and floral encrusted hand painted sweetmeats dish from John Bevington(CA 1880) of the Hanley Stoke on Trent Staffordshire factory. The piece is 9 inches long. 6 inches tall and 6.5 inches wide and include the flower painted reticulated basket with weaved handles. The mold definition is equal in quality to Meissen and the painting stands with the best of the German and French painters of the 18th and 19th centruies. The soft lifelike finish of the piece is part of the Bevington RARE family formula for silk parian wares that achieve a soft appearance in all glazed pastels. The piece has the Dresden crossed swords with the JB monogram on the bottom. It is in excellent condition with the exception of a few minor dings to the flowers. An unusual and very decorative antique pottery jug/ pitcher- the jug is unmarked and has a background of green/ turquoise stipple with a design of foxgloves above a white basket weave effect on the base- the handle also has a bamboo effect design. Very nice Bennington Parian vase of an ear of corn with grapes. This is documented in Richard Barret's book"Bennington Pottery and Porcelain" dated 1958 on page 163 plate 236. It measures 7-1/2" tall. It was made sometime between 1847 and 1858. There are some manufacturing defects consisting of 4 tiny holes. The leaves on the grapes have hairline cracks on 3 of the leaves. There are blacks spots on the grapes. Which is common on Bennington ware as the result of the clay they were made from. There is also some yellowing spots in places. The base is slightly unbalanced. Rare Prince Albert-The Prince Consort 1861 Memoriam Parian,Pewter Lidded Jug
A rare Parian Memoriam Jug made in 1861 for the death of Prince Albert-The Prince Consort of Queen Victoria. It is in an off white colour and beautifully moulded and has the raised face of the Prince on the front(great likeness) and the coat of arms on the back. It is all sort of basket weave design within the parian and has his various insignias and medals. The handle is exceptionally decorative and surmounted by a crown. Has the birth and death dates engraved. On the front has engraved"Prince Consort" They did these jugs with and without lids but this one is rather nice and different as it has a pewter lid. VINTAGE NIAGARA FALLS WATER PITCHER METROPOLITAN MUSEUM OF ART I do not know the age of this pitcher. It is no longer made or sold. I can't find one like it anywhere. White pitcher depicting in relief a waterfall cascading past rocks and plants. On the front is a representation of rock outcroppings interspersed with plant life. The handle resembles the branch of a tree. Heavily detailed all over. The pitcher is made of parian. A medium developed in England in the early 1840's and quickly copied in America. Parian is a type of porcelain having the appearance of marble. The word"parian" was coined to suggest Parian marble, a prized, semitranslucent marble quarried on the Greek isle of Paros that was used often in sculpture of the Greek classical period. Parian has a higher proportion of feldspar than conventional porcelain ... moreand is fired at a lower temperature. The increased amount of feldspar causes the finished body to be more highly vitrified. Producing a color verging on ivory, with a marlelike texture smoother than biscuit, or unglazed, porcelain. At mid-century, parian objects were usually formed by slip-casting-that is, by pouring liquefied clay into a plaster-of-paris mold that absorbed the water from the slip while retaining the fine details of the modeling. Relief ornamentation was either made by hand or in a mold. Like the original. The Museum's reproduction is parian. Antique 19thc Parian figure Naked Female Nubian. c1870 19thc Parian figure of a naked female Nubian standing 13 inches high on a base 7.5 inches long by 6 inches across. This unusual figure of a Nubian maiden is wearing nothing but a drape over her thigh and a necklace. She reclines on a rocky mound, by her side is a water fountain with an urn catching the water. The figure is well modelled. The Parian of a high quality being smooth, creamy and tactile. The condition is very good with just a couple of firing flaws. A chip to a toe and a chip underneath inside the base rim. There are 4 tiny pin holes on the back of the maiden. The figure is unmarked but the quality would certainly suggest a good manufacturer. This pair of Bennington Parian vases came from an auction in Vermont. The invoice from the auction states- see Barrett-Bennington Pottery& Porcelain 1958 p 75 plate 95H. They are beautiful vase with the blue accent. the blue is deeper in color than the pictures show) and an applied grape with leaves design. They are in good conditon, no cracks. Part of the vines are missing. I have show all four sides. A corner of one leaf is missing, see picture#7, and two smaller leaf edges that are hard to see, please see all pictures. A superb 19thc Minton parian figurine of Hebe as cup-bearer. After Canova- dating c.1869. Minton marks impressed to base. To front of figure at circular base CANOVA is impressed. This is a rare figure. Hebe is portrayed in the style of a classical maiden. Really excellent attention to detail to this fine parian with Hebe's gown falling from waist to below the knee and with a large bow to back. Her face is beautiful and her hair is piled behind her head in ringlets. Height some 14" Hebe has damage to left arm and hand with fingers missing. Right hand also has thumb and finger damaged. KHL Auctions Late 19th Century Copeland Parian Water Pitcher. With Dragon Handle. And Floral Relief. Up for auction is a Copland Parian Water Pitcher with a lively dragon handle. And floral relief. Note the clever play on the dragon handle, as it goes from relief to full three-dimensionality, as it wraps around the pitcher. This item does have a damage, one of the dragon's feet have chipped off. Which is shown below. The mark on the bottom of the base is an adhesive remnant that can be removed with some cleaning.
