ANTIQUE FRENCH OPALINE GLASS RUFFLED COMPOTE PINK CREST ENGRAVED FLOWERS TAZZA
Up for sale is this opaline glass ruffled compote with pink crest and engraved floral pattern. I believe this piece is French in origin from the late 19th century but I was unable to find another like it. It is in good condition. With some discolored areas and a small, chipped or scratched spot on the foot(see pics) There is an faint, engraved pattern around the inside of the bowl that is almost unnoticeable unless held at an angle to light. It stands 4 3/8 inches in height. 8 1/2 inches diameter across the bowl and 4 1/2 inches diameter across the foot. It weighs 2 pounds 1.5 ounces. Antique Richardson Uranium Opaline Glass Vase Etruscan Style C.1840
This vase is my most favourite piece from my collection. I believe it may have been produced by Richardson and definitely dates from C.1840. It is decorated in the Etruscan style and glows magnificently under a UV light. There is a similar vase pictured in the book British Glass 1800-1914. Page 136 under the Richardson category and International Exhibitions. The vase stands 10 inches/ 25.5cm tall and the base diameter 3.75 inches/ 9.5cm. There is one minute nibble on the rim which is barely visible. There are two other minute nibbles. One on rim and one on foot rim, these are manufacturing faults as they are painted over. This French blue opaline box is absolutely so beautiful. It is a hand blown. Seamless casket box. Considering the age of this, its in very very good condition. This is a beautiful antique Bristol or Opaline Glass Hinged Jar. The jar is hand painted with raised hand painted enameled wild flowers with a gold painted ring around the top. The gold painting does show some wear. The bronze or brass metal rim and hinged fitting is secure with a"c-clasp" to close the jar securely. This box was probably made between 1850 to 1900. Looks to be hand enameled with a winter scene and gold trim top and bottom. There is a makers mark on the bottom(pic 8) it is faded/ worn but I can read Paris and 1878. There is wear to the gold trim at the rim, some scratches on the bottom from where it sat on a shelf and a tiny flea bite(pic 6) Overall a beautiful piece! 1800s Victorian Robins Egg Blue Hand Painted Opaline Glass Blown Vase. This lot features a beautiful Antique 1880's Victorian vase with thick bright enamel floral painting and gilt over an thin clear Robin's Egg Blue color glass. It has a rough bottom pontil. This gorgeous vase has a beautiful thin glass. Which when viewed, you can easily see through it and it has an opalescent hue to it. This lovely piece has no damage. Fading to the gilt on the ruffled rim and on the rings on the neck, otherwise perfect. The last picture was taken from the inside of the vase. This vase measures 9 3/4" tall. Beautiful. Vintage Opaline Milk Glass Cigar Jar Humidor with Nautical Fishing Village Scene
This genuine milk glass jar with several panels of blue Delft Dutch style scenes painted all around was a part of my grandmother’s estate. I do not know how old it actually is(est. 1970‘s) But the milk glass is genuine when I hold it up to the light and see the red in the edge of the glass. It reminds me of a shaving canister used an eons ago by barber’s, but most likely used as a tobacco humidor or cigar jar since my grandfather smoked both a pipe and cigars. This nice Jar is in excellent condition and could be used to store candies. Old shaving memorabilia, used as a grease jar, small toys, jewelry, soaps or precious letters folded and tucked away. However, it has the scent of potpourri in it which is what my grandmother used it for. Would look awesome with a collection of other milk glass opaline jars and Dutch style items. CONDITION: ... moreExcellent- no chips. Cracks, crazing or breakage. The slide-on, pop-on lid is made from plastic and fits securely. It measures approx. 6” inches tall by 4-3/4” inches in diameter. The top and bottom bowed-out edge rings have a textured feel while the center with the scenes depicting a fisherman’s village& lighthouse has a smooth finish. I have not seen another jar depicting this particular scene. I could not find a manufacturer’s mark and do not know what was once held inside. It’s possible that it was made by Echt Company of Germany during the 1960’s/1970’s and also known as Opaline Milk Glass. Ones with a windmill scene were made by the NV Willem II Sigarenfabrieken Valkenswaard Holland. Belgium from the 1950’s onward. OPALINE MILK GLASS FIGURAL BOTTLE APSASIA AONAOIA RARE 1800'S JADE GREEN
Thank you for looking at another one of my AUCTIONS! I always try to hunt down for you the RARE AND UNUSUAL items to sell on eBay…this one is no exception. Rare Stunning Impressive Superlative- what more can I say- Figural Bottle. In a vivid Jade green opaline milk glass, richly adorned with a cherub type face to each end of the body, a pair of doves, a heart, and floral decoration to one side and a pair of doves, floral decoration and a heart with an arrow through it to the other side. The embossed wording to the top of each shoulder reads: Aonaoia" and: Aspasia" and to the base" SALVE" It is a mouth blown bottle. With a hand applied and tooled lip, and a smooth non pontil base which would suggest to me a date of the mid to late 1800s. The theme of this bottle is from Greek Mythology. Socrates or Hipolitus, and Aspasia ... morefrom what I can gather was a bit of a ladies man(to say the least) Aonaoia was his long suffering wife who finally got fed up with Aspasia's carrying ons and moved in with her brother. There is probably a lot more to the story.And the SALVE was, I presume, the product contained in this fantastic bottle. Either way I've seen a few figural bottles in my time. Both in collections and in books, but this one is to my knowledge a previously unknown rarity, in a stunning color, with superb detailing, and an interesting steamy story to boot! Height 9.5 inches or 24 cms. Long Width 7.25 inches or 18.5 cms. And Short Width 3.5 inches or 9 cms. Weight 900g. Condition. Superb cellar found surface sheen, the body of this bottle is perfect, however there is one flake of glass missing from around the neck. Difficult to photograph in this color, but I have done my best with the last four photos. Please study the photos carefully. This is a beautiful piece and this type of box and glass is easy to identify in books on fine antiques from France, acquired during the 1850's& 1860's.
