Shading from clear to lime green. The base is possibly bronze and was originally gilt all over. Good gold traces can be seen on the top. And are visible underneath. Beautiful item. Big French Green Opaline Glass Newel Post Finial
A lovely old French Opaline Glass Newel Post Finial. The Finial is made from a pale green opaline glass and the fittings are brass. When the light passes through the glass it is translucent and has an attractive paneled design because of the ribs. The Finial is BIG at 7 1/2" high x 3 1/4" in diameter. It has a threaded hole on the bottom which is approximately 5/16" in diameter. It is in very good overall condition with no chips or cracks in the glass. The only thing to note is a small gap on the bottom of the glass where it meets the brass, it is very secure so it is probably in the making. The brass has 2 dents where someone used a tool to remove it from it's newel post, see photos. The finial looks great as a decorative accessory and would be perfect in a Victorian decor. Up for sale is a very nice sugar shaker from Vallerysthal& Portieux, Circa 1905. This shaker is the Beggars Hand design that depicts a hand holding a cup with a corrugated pattern in a beautiful robin egg blue opaline milk glass. We have not found any other sugar shakers in this pattern. Only toothpick holders so consider it to be quite scarce. This shaker is in excellent condition, no chips or cracks. The inside has a little glue residue that looks to be from the bottom part of the two part lid. This is a heavy shaker weighing 12 ounces and is 4" tall. The original owner of this beautiful Art Deco Blue Opaline French Vase cared so much about it that they never took off the original label, ribbon or hang tag. The label and ribbon are in perfect shape. The hang tag(actually a card) which describes the vase in French had split into two pieces sometime in the past and was taped back together from the back side. The vase stands 11 ¼” tall. It is 3 5/8” wide at its base and 2 ½” wide at its top. MINT condition with no chips or cracks of any kind. Includes the etched Sevres(in script) France on the bottom. The vase is in great vintage. Like new condition with normal age wear, and the original sticker. Made from white opaline glass. The base is made from brass and Teak wood. The wood part at the upper neckband is teak wood. I have put protection felt at bottom to protect the vase from direct contact with the metal base. Vintage Sinclair Opaline Motor Oil Race Car Logo Oil Can Bank
While don't like using the word'rare' I have seen gallon sized Sinclair Opaline oil cans with this logo but have not been able to find even a picture of this particular can. My guess would be that because it is a bank that it was possibly a promotional giveaway. I did learn that this logo was used prior to the 1933 Chicago Worlds Fair where Sinclair Oil Company introduced the dinosaur logo that is still used by the company today. As the pictures show there are several condition issues. Rust on the top and bottom and staining on the paper label. Guess that's to be expected from a can that as far as I can tell is 80+ years old! rare ANTIQUE VICTORIAN OPALINE GLASS STERLING POCKET WATCH CHAIN BILLIARD FOB
This collectible is quite significant historically. I have enjoyed researching it over several months. As no similar item has been found. The information I am providing is based on my best detective work(it is not gospel) The watch and chain. With its attached fob, are believed to have been the property of a cue sports aficionado or professional. The fob is of particular interest. Before the 1897 invention of hardened cue chalk in cube form. Players who wanted to put"spin" on the ball, purchased their own chalk in powdered form. This fob is not only decorative but was used to hold powdered cue chalk and to shape and roughen the tip of the pool cue. In this case. Some type of adhesive was used to bind the powdered chalk to the fob. This fob has become slightly deformed from such usage over many years of play; however. I t still provides ... morea perfect fit to the 10mm tip found on a carom cue stick. Close inspection reveals small amounts of old cue chalk still attached. The brilliant blue chalk residue is what first intrigued me about this piece. The French made chain is also fascinating. It measures just under 14" from ring to ring. The fob and its short chain total 2-1/2" long X 1" wide X 5/16" thick. The large circle ring is plated. While all other metal is solid sterling silver. The circle ring is slightly dented. Several parts are stamped with tiny French makers marks that have proven too small and worn to read. The two slides measure 22.5mm X 16mm X 14mm thick. They move freely along four square woven chains. The four opaline glass stones are unusual in that they have three colors. The outer layers are of milk and turquoise glass that are sometimes seen together, but there is a third layer of black glass underneath. The layers are seamless with the topmost turquoise layer showing shallow scratches but no chips or cracks. Each stone is held in place by 30 tiny fleur-de-lis prongs. Antique opaline glass vase decorated with enamel. Jewels and gilding. Made by Moser, Bohemia(now Czech Republic) 19th century. Approximately 3 1/2 inches high. Narrow base widens to a full-bodied roundness and ending in a small collared neck. The glass is soft amethyst in colour. Very pearly opalescent. The upper area, around the shoulders and the neck are decorated: the neck with very rich gilding and piped enamel scrolling highlights, interspersed with actual raised jewels(made of glass, not enamel) in blue and red- like sapphires and rubies. The shoulders have a deep iron grey pattern, outlined in gold that could show Russian influence. Also decorated with piped scrolls and set with raised jewels. Opaline Brocade spanish lace pattern cranberry opalescent rose bowl rosebowl
This is a great cranberry opalescent glass rose bowl. This is in the Opaline brocade or spanish lace pattern. I know that this pattern was produced by both Northwood and Fenton, it stands about 3.75" tall. No chips or cracks, there is some staining inside.
