Beautiful vase in mint condition made by the distinguished porcelain maker Jacob Petit(1830-1860) Depicting a pair of doves. One sitting in her nest with eggs and the other standing in a bark. Great colors all around the piece, has a scroll base which makes it very rococo style typical of the Jacob Petit factory. It is gilded on its base and also inside the vase. This is an extremely rare piece to find and its around 180 years old. This is not a reproduction, guaranteed to be original. I have read that Petit loved the challenge of technically difficult cut-work such as this coupled with deep bas relief carvings. Exuberant gold scroll work and beading. A fleur-painted tray to hold jewelry or other small treasures. With holes in the dragon's back for brooches or necklaces. Old Paris porcelain vase in peach tones with gilt accents and medallion portrait
A lovely mid 19th century Old Paris porcelain vase in classical vase form. The overall color of the body is a soft peach accented with bands of gilt at the base. On the neck, and at the lip. The band of gilt at the neck is tooled. The gilding is further accented by bands of ebony at the base and neck. On the front of the vase is a large gilt medallion with three lobes on each side. Atop this is a celeste blue medallion and atop that is a grisaille profile portrait of a Roman or Greek maiden with sheaves of wheat in her hair, possibly representing Ceres, the goddess of agriculture. The outer gold medallion also is accented with an overlay decor in ebony that is somewhat worn. The neck of the vase has a cruciform design in ebony and gilt and the rear of the vase also has two cruciform designs, a smaller one at the neck and a large one along ... morethe rear of the vase, both in excellent condition. The entire vase is in very good condition, with no chips, flakes or cracks. The vase is unmarked but there is the number 11(or two hash lines) incised into the underside of the foot. There also appears to be a small pinhole visible in the band of gilt decor along the neck(not a chip but a minute flaw in the original firing of this piece, hardly noticeable) This is a lovely, elegant, understated, classically inspired piece of Old Paris porcelain. Antique Old Paris Porcelain. For auction is a group lot of antique old Paris porcelain by Ch. Pillivuyt. The lot includes a creamer/pitcher and covered sugar dish decorated with swags of lovely blue. Pink and orange flowers. They have heavy gold gilt covered handles and the finial on the sugar bowl. The body of both pieces has a nice embossed detail with adds to their elegance. There are also two matching coffee cups with saucers in the same pattern. The rims and edges of the cup and saucer have a nice gold trim. All of the pieces are marked on the bottom“CH. PILLIVUYT& C IE PARIS EXP.1867.1887 MEDAILLES D’OR” in red. The creamer. Sugar and cups also have an addition mark in green of“C.P. Co” in a rectangle. Tall. For it measures over 23" high, this Paris porcelain vase is redolent of Japonism, the style craze of the last years of the 19th century. In a vibrant red background, two cranes occupy the front side; stylized vegetation, on the back. The vase itself is in mint condition, the gold loss is minimal. Beautiful antique delicate fine porcelain breakfast. Luncheon, dessert or tea trio manufactured by Sarreguemines of France in a simple, yet elegant unidentified pattern. Pieces have slightly scalloped edged and are embossed with alternating wide ribbed& narrow beaded swirls. The pure white porcelain is highlighted with feathery gilt trim on the rims. The beads are decorated with gold. As is the legged"c" handle on the cup. Porcelain has good translucence. Blank is the same as the one used for the exuberant"Louis XV" pattern. All pieces have the green printed Lorraine coat-of-arms backstamp that was used from the 1860's until 1918. As well as decorator marks. Plate also has impressed numbers that are difficult to make out. Cup is 3 5/8" in diameter. 4 3/8" wide including handle and 1 7/8" high. Saucer ... moreis 5 5/8" in diameter and plate is 6 6 7/8" Set has no chips. Cracks or flakes. Saucer& plate have extremely light usage scratches and minor rubbing on some of the high points of the embossed swirls that can only be noticed on close inspection. Old Paris is how some would refer to this piece, but the signature there on bottom tells us quite a bit more about it than that catch-all. The mark is the maker mark of famed porcelain decorator, ... moreJacob Petit. Jacob Petit(1796-1868) was a very talented porcelain painter who worked for the Royal Manufactory de Sevres in Paris, France, then went on his own and opened his own shop. Most of the Petit pieces had decorations that were colored pink, light green, pale purple, black and gold. He used the cobalt-blue initials"J.P. as his mark, but many of his pieces were not marked and get referred to as"Old Paris" along with unsigned Sevres and Vincennes pieces. His customers wanted"antique"style china, so he made copies of Sevres vases, Meissen figurines, many patterns of English dinnerware, Chinese export porcelain and more. These copies often are mistakenly identified as original old pieces. But Jacob Petit porcelains are so attractive and well-made that they are almost as pricey as originals. What we have here seems to be one of his pieces made similarly to Meissen. All those flowers and seashells and even birds would have been formed by hand and hand applied and painted. The painting depicts a pastoral scene. Sheep and cows are grazing in the fields with very steep mountains in the background. Most likely the Alps. A white farmhouse with a red roof is nestled into the trees. A small stream winds near the house and by a simple fence. The top and bottom of each urn is burgundy with fancy gold work, including detailed swags of flowers on the bottom. Gilded raised white and red beading border the center. The sturdy handles have a scroll design with tasteful gold work. These would make great planters or would be a lovely mantle decoration. The planters are marked ... morewith an S for Sevres. Round, open top has a round extruded 1" heavily gilded lip. The front of the urn features a large decorative. Brightly-coloured, painted panel of a courting couple in the centre. The man sits on a rock in a green grove, dressed in a rich blue coat with orange stockings and an orange hat. He is speaking to a standing woman, seen in profile with her hair up in a snood. ... moreHis hand rests on her shoulder. She wears a beautiful early Renaissance gown of cream with a gold pinafore lined in mauve trimmed with flowers and has one hand raised in a conversational gesture. The painting is simply finished with a burnished gilt"frame" of laurel leaves on either side and a band of vertical bars on the top and bottom. The back panel of the urn has a round. Flat gold disk of flowers, a sheet of music and a horn. The rest of the main body of the urn is heavily painted with lustrous gilding. The body of the urn is further decorated on either side with a pair of figural handles with two laughing. Bearded male heads. The flat gold surface of the faces was achieved by applying gilding directly to unglazed porcelain. The urn tapers down to a white rounded disc that is decorated with gold bands. There are no repairs and no damage except for some very minor chips to the pot lids: One lid has a small chip to the little underside tongue. The other lid has a small flake to the underside tongue. The gold is in overall good shape with only some light wear to the tops of the handles and some spots on the pot lids. The larger pot is 10.25" tall overall. Stunning Paris Porcelain Vase Ca1850 - Hand Painted w Flowers & Bees Provenance
This week we are proud to offer this truly awesome antique- a fabulous Paris Porcelain vase which stands 13" tall to the rim and sports a 6" diameter waist. We are dating it to the mid 1850's only because of its provenance. But it might actually be an 18th Century treasure. As with most 18th C Paris Porcelains, it is not signed or marked on the bottom, and the gilding is slightly worn in spots from handling. But overall, we have never seen a piece of this age in better condition. There are no chips, cracks or restorations and the artwork has been marvelously preserved. Exquisite 19th century Old Paris Porcelain Veilleuse (tea pot and candle stand)
A truly beautiful 19th century Old Paris porcelain veilluse de the(tea pot with candle warmer) The veilleuse is in three parts: the stand for the candle. The pot that fits atop the stand, and the lid. The veilleuse is profusely decorated. The overall ground color is a rich apple green. On the front side of the pot and stand appears a motif of a suitor and his fiancee. The suitor appears on the side of the warmer. He sits on a rick and strums a lute. He wears a blue and purple tunic with white collar and orange hose. A forest scene appears in the background. His fiancee appears on the side of the tea pot. She also sits on a rock or mound of earth and is dressed in a blue and purple dress with yellow and orange over skirt, lavender bodice and white blouse. A forest scene also appears in the background. The reverse side of the veilleuse is richly ... moredecorated with bouquets of flowers on both the warmer and the side of the teapot. Flowers are roses, tulips, daisies, corn flowers and assorted foliage. The base of the veilleuse has gilt scrolls on three sides and an opening for the candle on one side. At the top of the base are openwork squares to allow for escape of heat and smoke. This is also decorated in gilt, somewhat worn. The spout of the teapot is also covered in gilt as is the handle and the rim of the tea pot which is formed of 8 lobe-like foliate forms. There is some wear to the gilding. One lobe of the teapot rim has been repaired. The teapot lid is oval shaped with a gilt handle. There are some tiny chips at the opening atop the warmer stand at the point where the teapot is inserted but these are not visible when the teapot is in position. The approximate dimensions are: 9 and 1/2 inches high by 5 inches wide by 4 inches deep. All photos constitute part of the item description. It has a lovely portrait of a lady wearing a Juliette type hair net. Overall dimensions are 6 3/8" high x 4 1/8" wide. The vase is in very good overall condition with no chips. Cracks, hairlines or repairs. The only thing to note is wear to the cold paint on the handles, this is common because the paint is on top of the glaze. DESCRIPTION: Very detailed and beautifully moulded and handpainted vase with a two-tailed mermaid and merman at the base. Above the mermaid is a reserve depicting a courting scene beautifully handpainted in the Wattau manner. The back reserve above the merman is a bouquet of handpainted flowers. The vase is flanked by two dolphins. The rocaille base is very ornate with flowers and scrolls. The high glaze is beautiful and so are the gilded details throughout the entire vase. This very rare vase depicts two very unusual forms. A mermaid and, even rarer, a merman. This is the first I've seen in more than thirty years of collecting fine porcelain. An exquisite Old Paris porcelain vase in near pristine condition without any chips. Cracks or nicks. The vase measures an impressive 10 inches high by 10 and 1/2 inches wide by 5 and 1/2 inches deep. The front is decorated with a lovely hand-painted floral bouquet including roses, climatis, pansies, corn flower, poppies, violets, and assorted leaves. The painting is pristine. The sides of the vase and the base are extensively decorated in gilt in a pattern of leaves, flowers and scrolling vines. The handles of the vase are formed of two cascading lilies completely decorated i gilt and the base has two serrated leaves also decorated in gilt. Being offered is a Superb Massive Pair of 19th C. Vion& Baury Bisque Porcelain Man& Women Figurines. These figurines were produced by Gille studio and modeled by artist Charles Baury. The Paris porcelain studio of Gille was founded in 1845 to produce bisque busts. Statuettes and groupings in the realistic style. Charles Baury was a modeler at Gille Jeune and together with Desire Vion acquired the firm on the rue Paradis-Poissonnerie, later moving production to Choisey-le-roi in 1875. Their pieces are marked with a green overglaze anchor on the base. The quality& detail of these figurines are truly exquisite especially the life like expressions seen on their faces and raised intricate beading found throughout their clothing. Although these pieces will display quite nicely there are condition issues and each will be sold in"AS ... moreIS" condition. The women: her head has been re-attached and a few ruffles on her hat have been repaired(see pictures 11,12) I see no other issues. Dings, or nicks. The Jardenaire/ vase is 12" long and 6 1/2" tall, 7" wide. The main courting scene is handpainted in vivid enamels along with the side portraits of trees and landscape. Up for bids is this Antique 19thC Old Paris Porcelain Gilt& Painted Flowers& Bird Mantle Clock. This Old Paris Porcelain clock was made in the mid to late 19thC in France. The form of the clock is Rococo in style. The clock is painted green and has gold gilt flowers and high lights all over. The front is painted with a basket full of flowers and a pheasant like bird. On each of the sides there is a panel that is painted with flowers. This piece stands 10 5/8" in height. 6 3/4" in width, and 3 1/4" in depth. The case is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, breaks, or repairs and only some very minor wear to the gilding in a few small areas.
