19th century Old Paris porcelain reticulated compote with floral panels and gilt
A lovely and unique 19th century Old Paris porcelain compote with reticulated base and sides. Three-lobed border along rim of compote, gilt edging and highlights, and lovely celeste blue panels with rondels depicting various flowers in tones of cream, lavender, blue and white. The interior of the compote is a plain white glazed porcelain. What helps to make this compote unique is that many Old Paris compotes are formed of two separate pieces of porcelain, the bowl and the base, that are subsequently bolted together. When the ceramicist made this piece he employed the novel technique of making the compote all of one piece. The great advantage is that such compotes tend to be far sturdier than those with a bolt; the corresponding disadvantage is that the weight of the porcelain in the kiln could cause the bowl to settle slightly along the rim, ... moreas is the case in this piece. This does not impact the beauty of the decor. The gilding and piercing is truly lovely to behold, as are the four painted rondels along the sides, each featuring a slightly varied floral design. 1850 Paris Porcelain Bee Vase - Lorenzo Langstroth Provenance - Oxford, Ohio
This week we are proud to offer this truly awesome antique- a fabulous Paris Porcelain vase which stands 13" tall to the rim and sports a 6" diameter waist. We are dating it to the mid 1850's only because of its provenance. But it might actually be an 18th Century treasure. As with most 18th C Paris Porcelains, it is not signed or marked on the bottom, and the gilding is slightly worn in spots from handling. But overall, we have never seen a piece of this age in better condition. There are no chips, cracks or restorations and the artwork has been marvelously preserved. Here's an Extraordinary Pair Of 19th Century Antique Porcelain Vases Expertly Handpainted with Portraits of the Poets Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and William Cullen Bryant. The quality of the artwork on these is truly as good as it gets- they must have been done by the top decorators at whatever company produced them. Which leads me to say I don't know who made them; they have the look and feel of Old Paris Porcelain. But of course the subject matter would indicate an origin in England. Perhaps the porcelain blanks were painted by an English artist. There's some information to go on; the bases have some impressed numbers, and painted artist's initials. Any help would be most welcome. They stand approximately 8 and 1/2" tall each, measure about 9" wide, and are roughly 3 and 1/2" in depth. An important gilt green 9.75 inch plate supposedly from the dessert service of the 6th Duke of Devonshire(1790-1858) Commissioned in 1830 and created by the famed old Paris porcelain manufacturer and decorator FEUILLET. This plate features an 18th century Royal Sevres-style scalloped body. The 1.5 inch rim features a deep. Rich green ground colour. The border is decorated by three heavily tooled gilt-edged cartouches with hand painted bouquets of flowers of many varieties. The gilt edges of these three cartouches feature gilded baroque scrolls and festoons of flowers which are hand etched to create a multi-dimensional textural quality. The center of the plate features a large hand-painted bouquet of tulips, wild roses, daisies, and cornflowers. Rare HUGE Antique Sevres Vion Baury French Paris Porcelain Man Figurine Figure
This is a beautiful rare large hand painted porcelain figure created in France circa 1870-90. He is very heavy weighted and a large size at 19 1/4 inches high by 7 inches wide. And weighs a whopping 11.12 lbs. The green anchor mark of the Vion& Baury factory has worn away, but is partially found on his lady mate listed in my separate listing. His face is very finely handpainted and he is walking in the meadow holding a baby goat as the momma goat looks up lovingly. This figure displays very well however the momma goat has one broken ear and the bottom of his scruff and the baby goat has one broken ear. There is a shallow chip on the back bottom base and the pink flowers are chipped on top. There is a tight hairline on the back of the figure near the bottom and also under the base. It is very tight and the figure feels very solid. Superb ... morefigure for the collector! It has great over-the- top colors with gold guilt and a heavy relief design. The case itself is in excellent condition with the exception of a small flake or chip that looks like it may have happened at the factory. But it would sit behind the bezel so you would not be able to see it(see picture) The case otherwise has no cracks or hairlines. It measures 11-1/2” long. 6” deep and 8” high. The opening for the bezel measures 3-5/8” Originally this case would have had a porcelain statue on top. But that’s long gone. The top of the clock has an inset that would have held that statue which measures 7-1/2” long. By 3-7/8” deep. This is a rare beauty ... morethat you don’t see too often. The vase is decorated in a Neo Classical style with hand painted scene of ladies lounging at the waters edge. Enjoying the day. The handles have a reeded or bark type design. The back of the vase is unpainted with cream peach glaze. The rim is gold gilded at top and base. No chips or nicks. There are a few spots of minor paint wear on one handle. He married Ms Lenora Swift(1884-1965) from another influential Columbus, GA family involved in textile manufacturing. Many were entertained at their Columbus. GA home including Army administration personnel during their interaction at the local military base, Fort Benning, GA during World War II era. This list includes then Major Eisenhower, General Patton, family friend General George Marshal while Lt Colonel at Ft Benning and during further promotions in his life, along with others, many which had correspondence with the family over their years. The elegant forms of the candelabras feature a young gentleman and lady each standing atop and footed base. Hand painted details adorn the figures and the base. The candle holders are held aloft behind the figures with an ornate bronze dore stem decorated with delicate leaves. In overall very good condition with light general wear and loss to the gilded accents. Most of the gilding is entirely worn from the actual candle holders. Porcelain de Paris Hand Painted Vintage Neo-Classical Art Deco Old Estate Vase I just purchased this vintage French porcelain vase from a local estate here in Central Virginia. The base bears the unique geometric line mark utilized by artists at the famous Porcelain de Paris decorating company. The rue de la Pierre-levee factory came under the direction of Robert Bloch in 1914 and he was responsible for the revitalization of the company and the establishment of a new factory 200 miles south of Paris. This vase has an elegant design with clean lines to the classically inspired form. The upper urn portion and squared base are done in bright white porcelain and joined with the original bolt connector. The hand painting shows rich color and nice detail to the stylized floral medallions and geometric/ diamond array ground. The décor is highlighted ... morewith extensive gold enamel(feathered bands and border rings) which show rich patina and essentially no wear. The vase measures 9" high and 3 5/8" across the top rim. The base also bears the green"Limoges FRANCE" blank mark which was painted over in gold by the studio. Antique Old Paris Porcelain 6-Piece Coffee Set - Very Ornate Gold Gilt Design
This Old Paris Coffee Set is just exquisite on any sideboard or table. The gold gilding will match with any china pattern having gold rims or details. The creamer is large and has such a graceful shape on it's own. The coffee pot has been repaired on the spout and lid finnial. Which I've tried to show in the pictures. However, there are no chips on any of the other pieces.there is the normal wear on some of the gilding that you would expect from this age, most likely mid to late 19th Century. There are some generic marks on the bottom of the cups, saucers and creamer, straight hashmarks, an"X" and a"10" The coffeepot has shat looks like a D in cursive in a bluish/grey tint. Beautiful pair of matched bold green Old Paris porcelain urns with fine gilt handles and floral hand painted decor. Both are bolted onto matching square bases and are marked on the underside with blue crossed feathers mark. Apparently that of R. Bloch Porcelain of Paris. Outstanding 19th C. Old Paris Porcelain Urn Vase Lamp Manner Tucker Philadelphia
An outstanding Old Paris porcelain vase or urn decorated in the manner of the Tucker Factories of Philadelphia. Ca. 1835. It has been converted into a lamp. The vase measures 12 1/2" high(vase measurement only) and has gold gilding with a rich patina. The exquisite hand-painted decoration of flowers and birds covers the entire surface. Below the painted decoration. The lower portion of the vase is an unusual matt glazed section that appears to be molded flower and acanthus leaf decoration. There is a fingernail size old chip at upper rim. An old repair of the"lion's" crest and two old repairs on the bottom edge of the base. The back of the base has been notched for the electrical cord. The piece could be professionally restored, but I personally don't mind the damage. This would be a fabulous accessory for your Classical ... moreor Empire or Early American interior! I'm not sure. It is unmarked. More photos can be see at the top of this listing. The porcelain is painted a pink or peach color and there is a decorative band around the middle that shows a scene of a winter landscape. The design is a combination of transfer design and hand painted accents. There is evidence of gold trim but most of the gold has worn away. The pitcher has a couple of tiny hairlines near the top rim(see photo) Overall it is in good condition given its possible age. It displays nicely. The pitcher measures 4-5/8 inches tall.
