It cost me £350. I adore the inlaid (possibly Marquetry "the" on the top lid which spells "tea" in french). A really unique and one off piece. Condition I would say is average as it would benefit from a professional polish, there are a few minor losses to the lower side and reverse, and there's the old age split (left corner as you look at pics of the caddy front on). Still displays fantastically well, and is fresh out of my display cabinet. A fantastic investment.

Circa 1780 and inlaid with beautiful floral marquetry decorations throughout. The dished moulded tiers are supported on baluster and ring turned columns. The table is raised on a tripod base with three cabriole legs with the original inset castors. It is a very decorative piece which would looks amazing in any period interior. David Petillo pickguard w/ marquetry for archtop guitar
This is a real one-of-a-kind find! An archtop guitar-style pickguard with intricate inlaid marquetry. Made by the famous artist and luthier David Petillo. Petillo is best known for the work he has done on Bruce Springsteen's guitars. One of his specialties is marquetry, decorative patterns made from small pieces of wood or other material. I got this pickguard on a used Harmony archtop tenor guitar. I later had a pickup installed which would have required cutting away part of the pickguard- so instead I had the luthier take it off and fashion a new one. Unfortunately I don't expect to get any other archtops. And thus have no use for this beautiful piece of work. The pickguard measures 9 inches on its longest edge. 8 inches on the opposite edge, a little over 3 inches on the longer end and just over 2 inches on the shorter end. Two ... morescrew holes as shown- both screws and a bracket are included. I'm not sure what material it is made of- it looks and feels like some sort of composite or hard polymer. Like delrin or something, but I can't say with any certainty. The marquetry inlay looks like wood. The overall condition of the pickguard is very good. But there are a couple of very small(1/16- 1/8" nicks in the corners and edges, and some very light smudging/scuffing that could probably be buffed out. On the back of the guard is written: David Petillo/ Made Aug 31. 06" and his website address and phone number. Please ask any questions if I've left anything out. This is an absolutely stunning late 1700's/early 1800's elm and kingwood tea caddy with original cut glass mixing bowl and wonderful marquetry canister lids with detailed satin wood/yellowheart wood border inlay and base. The particular exotic woods and various grains used in the craft of this caddy are phenomenal. They are so vivid. It really is lovely. It has been very carefully cleaned and polished and has a great patina to it. The inside of the caddy looks great and is in very good condition. The inside lid looks to be satinwood or yellowheart wood ... morewith a beautiful grain kingwood inlay boarder. The mixing bowl housing and canister lids are inlayed with poplar/green oak and other woods. Very intricate. The glass is in phenomenal condition given its age and fragile nature. It does have a crack down it as you can see from the last picture but the glass is strong and stable. The canister lids sit flush and have a lovely soft. Gliding motion to them. The side lion head brass handles are in great condition and strong as are the hinges. The caddy rest on bun feet. In stunning condition certainly for its age and highly crafted. Intricate nature. Has markings of course commensurate with age. As with many caddies of this age the lid does not quite close flush but detracts nothing from this very rare. Collectable caddy. An exquisite. Small Marble Marquetry Oval Pietra Dura Marble Jewelry Box Trinket Box 2 Inches
Inlaid marble box with pretty inlaid stones in a pretty flower design. How this pretty box is made: Precious and Semi-Precious Gemstones are set in marble in such a way that they shine like gems set in a ring. The technique of inlaying marble is essentially no different from that used in the Taj Mahal. The marble stone is first traced with the pattern of brass sheet. The pattern may be of any shape. Design or size. The quarried marble is then cut to size and painstakingly sculpted. Once the desired contours are achieved. Small indentation(grooves) are created by hand on the marble stone base to hold the gemstones. The different colored stones. Precious and Semi Precious, are cut as per the design/size of the Pattern. The cut stone fit perfectly into the marble. After the stones are set in place, the piece is polished to a rich luster.

ANTIQUE MARQUETRY WRITING SLOPE This auction is for an old wooden writing slope with marquetry design made of wood. Metal, and mother of pearl. The box has some condition issues yet it is still very suitable for decorative display or as a candidate for restoration. The box measures about 13" side to side, 8 3/4" front to back, and 5 1/4" tall when closed. The box includes 2 glass ink wells with metal cork stoppers. The glass sides and base have all been cut flush and polished, probably pre 1900 English or Irish. There's some very minor nics on the top rims, otherwise they are in fine old used condition. There's also a pen handle and a few nibs. There's no makers mark on the fountain pen, it has a mechanical slide, and none of the nibs fit the handles barrel. The metal was not tested. Finally, there's a few extra ... moreslat boards for the interior dividers. It appears to be the face board that would disguise the hidden storage area beneath the top level of boxes for pen and ink well storage. The box has numerous condition'issues' yet is quite decorative'as-is' These areas of wear or damage are all correctable and include small areas of wood damage and a few areas of missing or loosening marquetry. There's a split on one of the inside desk tops. And general signs of cracking from age. Fortunately, the main theme; a wreath with birds, maybe Falcons, is completely intact and the fine wire border surround this non- monogrammed center cartouche is missing only one inlay'line' the top inner piece. The wire that is missing, is in the box and could be straightened and re-inserted into the channel. There is some'lifting' within the design, mostly one the edges of the metal wires and along the outer edged border of the box. The center cartouche does not appear to have any rising pieces, just general signs of aging as seen throughout the box. A beautiful Persian tray with intricate marquetry inlay. Depicts a man being served a drink by a female servant. Their clothes are picked out with different coloured woods. And their skin and other objects are picked out in faux-ivory. The quality of the inlay is very good, and the detailing is excellent. Has two raised handles, and a rim all the way around the edge. Exceptional quality kingwood and tulipwood veneered mid 19th Century French Louis XV Regence Bureau Plat with gilt bronze caryatids at the top of cabriole legs ending on gilt-bronze mounted sabots. The writing surface is original veneers with inlaid border and framed ormolu rim. Three functioning drawers on one side with exquisite bronze scrolled foliate mounts and three faux drawers on opposite side. Such a lovely bureau plat in restored condition is very difficult to find. Especially one of this high quality. The design is inspired by 18th century examples by the master ébéniste Andre Charles Boulle. You are looking at a Antique Miniature Japanese Marquetry Jewelry Chest from the Odawara Region which a Japanese antique dealer tells me is from the late 19th c. From the region of Odawara, and i am told that it is made of several woods including persimmon and peach. It is 9" tall, 9.5" wide and 4.5" deep. As shown in the photos it has six interior drawers behind the panel doors and one larger drawer at the bottom. Overall the marquetry and metal trim work is in very good original condition. Please look at the photos carefully as one drawer is missing its pull and the pulls for two of the drawers appear to have been modified. Email me if you have questions.

Japanese tansu miniature wooden chest decorated with inlay and marquetry.
This miniature tansu(chest) has a lockable pair of doors inlaid with mother-of pearl concealing three drawers each 128mm deep by 16 wide. The top pair are 52 deep. Grading though 45mm to 37 deep at the lowest pair. Above lies a single drawer 280 x 153 x 63 mm deep. The hinged lid opens to reveal a black lacquered gilt-painted interior with a view of Mount Fuji and a loose wooden partition. Apart from their marquetry fronts all the drawers are black-lacquered. There is some damage to the upper corner of the LH door and the hinges require attention. See photographs) The lock at the base of the lower plinth clearly once protected a further hinged tray or somesuch. The seating for two hinges remain opposite the lock. There are no keys.

This lovely bowl stands 4" 10cm) high and is 10" 25cm) across. It appears to have been handmade but I am not sure if the mixture of woods have been stained or are actually different as the grain appears to be very similar. The centre piece seems to have been glued in after the rest of the bowl was finished. There is one thin crack on an inner section but otherwise is in great condition.

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Up for auction is a very old but beautiful inlaid wooden humidor/ box. It measures 5 5/8" tall. 11" long, 7 1/4" wide and 3' deep. The inside is lined with blue velvet. This came from an old estate sale in central PA. It has a lot of craftsmanship and just has a beautiful look. The only issue I found was a small crack in the corner(does not go all the way through and most likely from age) It also has general wear from use and age so please see pictures for more details. For your consideration is a Vintage Wood Marquetry Lamp with a Old Map Motif Lamp Shade. This lamp is really cool. Please take a good look at the pictures. The finish has a crackled appearance to it which I really like. The lamp stands 28" tall and the round wood base is about 9" across. Antique French Inlaid Marquetry Pedestal w/ Marble Top Square Column Stand
Gorgeous antique French marquetry pedestal inlaid with beautiful botanical motifs. This square column has a classical urn like shape and has been crowned with green marble or similar stone. The base has been accented with a brass surround. This stunning piece is ideal for displaying a treasured vase or sculpture. Its exact age is unknown. But it likely dates from the 19th century. Overall the pedestal is in fair to good condition. However with some lifting to veneers, mostly at corners and on curved areas. Please examine the pictures provided. Also the brass around the base has lifted a bit. Otherwise no damage or visible repairs. This piece measures 14" X 14" and stands 47 1/4" tall. We have a similar piece on consignment as well.
