Octagonal Marquetry Antique Sewing Table
For auction we have a petite sewing table which I believe to be from around 1910. The three legged base screws into the top for easy disassembly. When assembled the table is very sturdy. The lock is included but not installed and we do not have a key. There are some scuffs and scratches on the base and two pieces of wood that cover two small screws are missing but the third is there. These cover the screw head that secures the legs. The interior is mostly in good condition with a few tears which you can see in the pictures. I have a finial that came with it that might have gone underneath the leg unit but I'm not sure it belongs with the piece but you can have it and make your own decision. The finial is not in good shape but could easily be affixed to the piece. Anyhow this is a really cute sewing table, I've been it the business ... moreand haven't seen many if any like this in a long time. I will ship this UPS Ground. He specialized in producing high quality American Victorian furniture in the Renaissance, Gothic, Louis XVI and Rococo Revival styles. The 2-piece Marquetry inlaid Rosewood Ladys Desk or Vanity in this auction is a fine example of what Alexander Roux was designing and making for the new affluent American Victorian Market. Underneath the inside small draw in the original Alexander Roux New York Label, which was printed between 1848 and 1867 when cabinet shop worked at this location. Decorated with gilded ormolu this small Victorian Louis XVI style vanity measures 17 ¼ deep by 28 1/8 wide by 28 1/8 tall and with the top section measures 48 tall overall. We have posted close to 40 photographs of this rare Roux vanity so you can see all the details and the few restorable problems. On the table top are two damages to the rosewood veneer. A past owner has partially restored these areas. There also is some fine edge damage to the veneer on the bottom of the main draw and the sides. 1895 Victorian marquetry settee and chair for museum or historic home
These pieces belonged to my mother's great-aunt Hettie E Longhead Tutnell who was born around 1870. Lived in New York and Pittsburgh, enjoyed china painting, and had fancy parlor furniture. My mother stored these pieces for 35 years, and I have stored them for the last 40 years. How lovely if they could be displayed somewhere! They are in perfect condition, tight joints and great finish. BUT the legs and arms are not the hefty wood of the mission style, no, these pieces want respect and distance. They are NOT practical, NOT suited for use by children, might not hold up a hefty modern American body. They are masterpieces of marquetry, and deserve to be seen. I have no place for them out in the open, so they sit in storage, awaiting a new owner. The chair has small wooden rollers at the bottom of the legs while the settee does not. The ... moresettee has a fabric-covered seat. And the chair has a needle point cover that was done in the 40's. The stuffing is probably the original horsehair. If you decide to buy these. You will have to pick them up or figure out shipping, so make your calls before you bid. There are a couple of reliable mover/shipper companies in Olympia Wa 98502(where the pieces are) who can connect you with nationwide shippers, or you can start at your end and talk to shippers about cost of shipping. The pieces are not heavy. I can see about getting shipping crates built, and padding for the pieces. Crates and padding will cost you about $50. Shipping costs will depend on where you are shipping to. I am guessing at the weight, and not sure what is going to show up in this listing about shipping costs and methods. AND getting the crates made will take longer than 3 days. Reminder- You pick up or YOU have to call a moving company to arrange shipping.

1800's "ROOSTER & HEN" Marquetry Drink Tray w/Latin Inscription "Bibite Amicis"
This very handsome early American marquetry tray(circa 1850) is expertly hand crafted of beautifully grained. Richly colored hardwoods. The beautiful image of a very detailed hen and rooster is captioned below in latin"Bibite Amicis" which translates to"Drink, Friends" The hen appears to be taking a drink from a little pool that they are both standing in, as evidenced by the splashing water where the hen is drinking. This charming drink tray was very elegantly and formally constructed, but its friendly and humorous image and invitation were sure to put all guests at ease at any gathering. This very attractive and important little tray is fitted with beautiful scrolled bronze handles that are richly patinated from decades of handling, and show evidence of hand finishing. They are attached with locking rivets(these can be ... moreseen from the back side) There is lovely, deep oxidation where the handles and other original metal components come into contact with the wood. The glass appears to be original and is not chipped or cracked. There are a few scratches in the glass, nothing very significant. The glass surface has done a good job of protecting the lovely marquetry beneath. The marquetry shows slight evidence of lifted edges, but there is no loss to any of the inlaid wood. The artistry of the image is quite wonderful, right down to the tiny lines along the delicate feet and spurs. The entire marquetry image is encircled with a lighter inlaid band. The frame of the tray is constructed of several layers of nicely interlocking wooden rings. One bottom section of the band is slightly loose, but is not broken or dislodged. The tray is large, measuring 17 5/16" in diameter. It has been fitted with a modern-style hanging bracket. Approximately 15" oval wall placque; a picture made with Marquetry- wood and faux ivory or bone inlay- the scene is a lady fetching water in a jar; a man with dogs looks on; it is Made in India and is very pretty and unusual. I do not know what kind of wood it is but it is a lovely color. With the various inlaid parts being different tones of natural wood color, all polished to a shiny finish. There is a crack up near the clouds; it is on the surface and does not go all the way through; kind of along the grain; it may have been this way from when it was made. Antique Mahogany Inlay Marquetry Wood Serving Tray-18'th-19'th Century-Federal
Stunning antique mahogany inlaid wood serving or butler's tray from the 1800's. Possibly earlier. A recent ee state sale find from a couple who emigrated from Holland in the 1930's. The tray is possibly Dutch but I cannot say for sure. It is an early piece judging from the patina of the wood on the underside of the tray and the unique style of the wooden handles. It measures 22" by 14 3/4" The tray is in beautiful condition. Missing 2 small pieces of inlay on the top of the outside rim. Difficult to capture in the pictures. There are a few very minor scratches on the top of the tray that could probably be buffed out. Overall condition is very good for it's age. A Large Sorrento ware marquetry shelf. Fine fretwork, good unfaded colour.
This is an impressive. Large folding shelf in Sorrento ware. The central panel is made from inlaid and stained olive wood which is set into a lovely bevelled, oval panel and fretwork. The shelf and folding support are also of fretwork. It measures 19 inches high. 9.5 inches at the widest and 6 inches deep. It was made in the late 19th Century in Sorrento. Italy. It is in good condition. The fretwork is all good and intact. The colour is rich with a lovely patina. There is some cracking to the wood in the background of the main panel which is clearly visible in the magnified photos and the shelf sits at a slight angle. Do check the photos.
