Hand Painted Wooden Bowl This is a charming wooden fruit bowl with painted marquetry effect around the sides and pokerwork to the interior of the bowl(please note this has been water damaged at the base as seen in Pic 2. This could be improved dramatically with a fresh coat of varnish) the pictures are a harbour scene with fishermen smoking pipes and carrying their catch, there is also a young dutch woman. On the base of the bowl is a hand painted butterfly. I am unsure as to the maker of this bowl. I could hazard a guess but i get in trouble when I do that: so i will need to leave it up to someone of greater knowledge. Vintage Marquetry / Inlaid Wood Playing Card Box Japan
This is a Beautiful Vintage Wooden Marquetry Double Deck Playing Card Box. Made in Japan, and four decks of playing cards in two sizes. The cards and box were purchased separately but are being offered as a set. The dimensions are about 4 1/4" x 2 1/4" x 3" The box is beautifully made with mitred joints. The inside of the box is divided for two decks of cards with circular arc cutouts to allow for easy removal of the decks. The box top is inlaid with a King of Diamonds Card Symbol surrounded by concentric diamond pattern inlay. The sides are inlaid with two intricate bands of rectangular and square designs in contrasting patterns. The marquetry shows the high quality typically found on Japanese card boxes. Puzzle box, jewelry boxes, and doll dressers. The bottom of the box is stamped"JAPAN" in purple. We are also ... moreincluding four card decks. Old Wood Hinged Marquetry Box Intricate Inlaid Design Mother of Pearl Accents
Description HINGED MARQUETRY BOX Offered for bids is a beautiful old. Possibly antique, hinged wood box with an intricate inlaid design. Crafted with skill, there are highly detailed geometric star shapes and lines on lid with geometric shapes/lines on all sides. There are triangular shaped mother of pearl accents along with some gold painted decoration. Bottom of box is undecorated finished wood. Unsure of wood type, but it may be walnut. Interior base and lid are lined with paper backed red velvet. Dovetailed joints are visible and hinge hardware looks like brass. Part of an estate purchase. Unsure of exact age, but I think this dates prior to 1950 and was made in the Middle East. Box is not marked. A Lovely. Intricately Designed Box CONDITION: No chips or cracks. There is varying slight to light wear on some edges and a few very small ... moreshallow nicks/dings. All the inlaid design appears to be intact. There are two or three tiny open spots. But I think this is just the way the pieces fit together. Some sections have very small pieces as part of the intricate pattern. Top of lid has a circular transparent stain- looks as if a glass was set on top of this at one time. I have not tried to clean or polish this for fear of damaging the inlay. Not sure of the proper product to use. This stain is not colored, and looks like it might be residue from moisture. It is visible, particularly when looking at the surface with box at eye level, but does not adversely affect the overall appearance of the piece. The bottom interior lining has two dark marks, and the velvet lined paper is partially lifted from the sides. This could easily be re-glued or removed to reveal the wood beneath. Interior has a light, slightly sweet musty smell- not offensive or unpleasant. Though slightly flawed, this remains a lovely little box. Please note: Apologies for the variance in color of the images. I was not able to reproduce the true color. Actual box has warm shades of brown. Offered here is an old damaged wooden box that has three compartments inside that could have been used for tea or tobacco or who knows what! The lid is hinged and there are veneer pins in some places where repairs have been made over the years. Part of a sticker on the bottom from a former owner- Major Morris. Looks like inlay around the keyhole. The lock mechanism is in place but there is no key. On the sides are lions faces that look like at one time there would have been a ring in them. Vintage Wooden Marquetry Mechanical Duck Retriever Cigarette Box
This cute vintage cigarette box features a duck who. Accompanied by mechanical chimes, delivers a cigarette in his beak when the hinged top is lifted open! Decorated with marquetry, this 1940's era box was probably made in occupied Japan; however, the mark has, over time, faded from the bottom of the box. So, it could be from another manufacturer who designed boxes exactly like the Occupied Japan cigarette boxes. The marquetry inlaid cabinet in this auction measures 14 ¾ inches wide by 25 ¾ inches long by 11 ¾ inches tall. On the ... moretop is an inlaid wood design with flutes and music. If you look closely. You’ll see a couple of tiny pieces of inlay missing. There also is a small chip to the veneer on the front of the cover and a deep scratched that has been stained, near the lock. The rest of this music box case is original, including the finish. On the inside of the cover is the original lithograph label listing the twelve ARIS. Down below this description you will find a list of the songs that this music box plays. The main spring is still very strong and after four or five pulls of the crank. This Swiss music box played all twelve tunes. The comb measures 13 inches long and the 62 teeth are perfect with their tiny tips. The cylinder measures 1 ½ inches in diameter and is also in perfect condition. Stamped on the mount for the barrel is the serial number 32711. At the bottom of this auction we will be adding a short video in which you will be able to see and hear this music box work. There is no reserve on this Victorian Music Box. Beautifu Antique English Inalid Wood Marquetry Panel

Here is an absolutely lovely antique British inlaid marquetry panel made with a beautiful variety of different fruitwoods- I can see walnut, apple, cherry, maple, oak and pine, depicting an idyllic English countryside; a farm, hillside, trees, clouds and a church tower flying the St. George's cross. I purchased this item many years ago at an antique store in Oxford. UK. The panel 20 inches wide by 14 inches tall. This panel hangs beautifully on a wall- the photos simply do not do this panel justice as it is especially magical when the sunlight catches the warm living colors of the various woods. Vintage marquetry inlaid Tunbridge ware hinged wooden box
Here is a stunning marquetry inlaid box with lots of detail. It's in good condition with only minor wear commensurate with age and measures 15 cm long. 11 cm wide and 4,5 cm high. The lining is a rather unusual red fabric. I always combine postage whenever possible. Postage costs abroad vary according to final value. If it sells for more than £20 postage will be £12.50. Inlaid Marquetry Swiss Matthey Music Jewelry Sewing Box Table Mother's Day #2
Lovely music box jewelry or sewing table with inlaid top and graceful curved legs. It plays"Somewhere My Love" also known as"Lara's Theme" from Doctor Zhivago. Matthey swiss mechanis m. Music box does not wind and play by itself but plays if you turn the key by hand; may need some kind of adjustment. Marquetry looks Italian but there are no maker's marks on the table. Just on the swiss mechanism. Not sure of age; these were from a collector's estate. Interior holds a cob alt blue plastic liner tray with velvet-like surface and five divided compartments for jewelry or sewing notions. Legs unscrew easily so table will be shipped disassembled and carefully padded and packed flat. Makes a very special and unique Mother's Day present for mom or grandma. Antique Mid 1800s English Solid SATINWOOD Inlaid Marquetry Night Stand Table
This is an antique nightstand that is made of solid wood and appears to be satinwood. The stand has a drawer that is hand dovetailed in the front and the back. The dovedails are very fine and have an inscribed mark remaining from when the craftsman originally laid out his work. There is a finely inlaid checkered accent around the drawer front as well as the front of the legs. There is also an inlaid design in the center of the front door. The stand is topped with a piece of marble that measures 14" x 14-1/2" The marble is not cracked or chipped. But does show wear consistent with age. The stand measures 33-3/4" tall x 15-1/2" wide 14-3/4" deep. All of the wood is solid on the piece- there is no laminated wood or plywood. The screws in the brass hardware appear to be machine made and I estimate that the piece dates ... moreto the mid 1800's and was made in England. The piece overall is in excellent condition for its age. There is minimal wear consistent with age and some age cracks in the wood. The joints are tight and there do not appear to be any repairs to the piece. The back piece of wood on the stand does have a large crack as seen in the photos. A superb marquetry picture of a Grimsby Trawler. I have managed to find the following information on the trawler: Northern Jewel. Built: 1953. Builders: Cochrane& Sons. Selby. Yard No: 1366. Launched: Saturday 26th September 1953. Named by Mrs J Muirhead. The wife of a director of one of the companies associated with Northerns. Completed: November 1954. Registered: June 1954. Gross Tons: 799. Nett Tons: 313. Length: 182.5 feet. Beam: 32 feet. Draught: 17 feet. Forecastle: 33 feet. Official Number: 184920. Call Sign: GRNN. Original Owners: Northern Trawlers Ltd. Grimsby. The vessel was originally laid down as the Kopanes for the Rinovia Steam Fishing Company. But Northern Trawlers bought her while she was being built. Thursday 3rd June 1954 Sailed on her maiden trip under the command of Skipper W. Wood. Who was formerly the skipper of ... morethe Northern Chief. Wednesday 24th November 1954 The Northern Jewel ploughed through heavy seas to assist a Danish ship that was drifting helplessly in the North Sea. The trawler stood by the 446-ton Svardfisken. Which had been disabled by heavy seas 70 miles south-east of Shetland. The Danish destroyer Evertsen also raced to the scene along with the 6.092-ton British Commerce. There were a crew of 14 men aboard the Danish ship which was eventually guided to safety. Thursday 19th February 1976 Sold for scrap. Fate: Scrapped in October 1978. Measures 44cm x 21cm

A superb marquetry picture of Grimsby Trawler: The Ross Revenge is a. Formerly the home of. As well as having supported and various religious broadcasters. She was constructed in in 1960. And initially served as a commercial trawler, notably taking part in the of the 1970s. Following her decommissioning. She was purchased by Radio Caroline and outfitted as a radio ship, complete with 300-foot antenna mast and 50 kW transmitter. Her broadcasts began on the 20th of August, 1983; her final broadcast took place in November 1990. She ran aground on the in November 1991. Bringing the era of offshore pirate radio to an end. She was, however, salvaged, and is now maintained by the Caroline Support Group, a group of supporters and enthusiasts. Measuring 51.2cm x 20.25cm.
