William Morris French Antique Nap III Marquetry Glove/Fan Box– Antique Boxes Woodenware An exceptionally handsome antique inlaid wooden glove or fan box from the Napoleon III period in France(1852—1870) with a triple line brass insert edging along the top. A brass cartouche in the lid, double brass line inserts on the front. Brass fittings and a working lock and key. The box is in overall excellent condition. The varnish is still very glossy with very minor traces of use. Visible only when tilted to the light. The brass hardware is securely attached. The top left edge has a very minor ripple next to the brass. The interior of the box is finely vanished wood and when the top is lifted. The bottom front panel opens to facilitate access to the contents. The four ... morebrass hinges are original and work well allowing the box to close snugly. There is a key and the lock works very well. The interior of the box measures 10 1/4 inches long and 3 1/4 inches wide. The exterior measures 11 1/8 inches. 4 1/8 inches wide at the center and sits 3 3/8 inches high. These boxes were used by gentlemen to store their evening gloves and by ladies to store their fans– both expensive and usually custom-made accessories. The back of the art is marked"Roy Lewis The Last Supper 1962 Aliquippa PA" It could use a cleaning, I only dusted it off, previous owner may have been a smoker but I detect no odor or staining) In the frame, it measures 38 inches wide and 20 inches tall, the frame is 2 inches deep) and it weighs about 8 1/2 lbs. VINTAGE ROUND MARQUETRY PICTURE PLAQUE IN WOODEN FRAME BIRCH TREES & HOUSE
Please scroll down under this description for additional views.Vintage round wood marquetry plaque in a circular wooden frame. The marquetry picture measures 7" diameter. A country scene with birch trees in the foreground and the thatched roof of a cottage peeking over a rise in the landscape. The frame measures 15 1/4" diameter and is constructed of walnut wood with a veneered front. There is a very loving, heartfelt ink inscription on the back that was written by the former owner to his wife. Although the inscription was written in 2008, this piece is decades older than that. I think this dates to the 1930's. There is some faint crazing to the finish of both the plaque and the frame and there are chips in the veneer on the frame. I think the veneer is mahogany but can't say for sure. Persian Khatam/Marquetry Wooden Box Vintage/Antique?
As you can see from the pictures this box needs some loving restoration. But we think it would be well worth the effort. The pieces of the mosaic are so tiny& the workmanship so careful that even along the cracks there are very few missing pieces. The mosaic pieces include a golden. Still bright metal, wood, bone(plain& dyed) and a mystery(to me) material that is used just like the bone(same colors/places) except that this material is striated- hue on hue of the same color- in straight lines, curves& woodgrain' The interior of the box is unfinished. The box measures approximately 4" wide X 4 7/8" long X 1 1/2" tall. That is about all we know about this item. We will try to add a photo or two that show the inner lid where the cracks show the best& where they probably started. Vintage Marquetry Inlay Butterfly Wing Tray Exquisite design and color brings this tray to life. The center of the tray has a blue Morpho butterfly in a circle of white wings. The corners of the tray has a fan design in four different wings and the background is mostly brown with blue iridescent wings. It is framed in inlay marquetry and I believe the wood with the handles is Brazilian rosewood. Measures 20-1/4" long by 13-1/4" wide and the glass area is 15-1/4" by 11-1/4" There is a label on the back dating it to June 1953(see photo#7) Has a hook at the top for hanging. Up for auction is a Very Beautiful Pearl Inlaid Wood Marquetry or Vanity Box. This is an older box. The inlay contains different size pieces of what looks like Bone? Pearl and many different types and colors of wood. The pattern varies and you can feel the inlay when you run your fingers over the box. The box is approximately 6 3/4 by 4 1/4 by 1 3/4 inches. The box looks like it was made microscopically piece by piece and the pieces are not exactly the same size or shape and the patterns vary slightly. The box is in great condition for its age. It does have a couple corner chips and a few minor imperfections but nothing major and it displays very well. This box has excellent color and a very beautiful pattern. Lovely Antique Inlaid Marquetry Plaque, Victorian Flower Basket on Burled Wood
I believe this beautiful piece of marquetry dates to the Victorian era. Probably around the turn of the last century(but it could be earlier) It is an oval shape, 21.5" by 14" and is about 1-1/4" or 1-1/2" thick. It has a hanger on the back. The central oval is a dark burled wood veneer(a matched pair, joined horizontally in the middle) the gracefully curved edge is a lighter wood. It's possible this may have originally served as a panel on a larger piece of furniture, but that's just a guess. Looking at the darkening and wear pattern on the back, it has been a wall plaque for a long, long time. The central figure is a basket full of flowers and"greenery" Hanging from a ribbon attached to the handle. It is full of detail, and very nicely done. The entire piece is in excellent condition for its age. There's ... moresome crazing on the surface, and a few tiny surface scuffs; there's also one small scratch immediately to the right of the lower right-hand edge of the basket. This is just a surface scratch and really is not noticeable, but I want to make sure you know about it. I've taken lots of photographs, including a variety of close-ups of different sections and different angles. Please examine the photos carefully, and feel free to write if you have questions. 2 Vintage Marquetry Boxes 1 Inlaid With Mother Of Pearl. His And Hers.
Two marquetry wooden boxes. These boxes are handmade and are vintage. The larger of the two is a square shape box with hinge closure and lined with red felt. It measures 5" x 4" x 2 1/2" The smaller of the two is a hexagon shape with mother of pearl inlay and lined with blue felt. It measures 4" x 3 1/2" x 2" All mother of pearl is present and the colors are beautiful. These are estate pieces and may show small amount of wear due to age. Overall they are in Great condition. The larger of the two has 2 barely noticeable scratches. Pictures have been taken. The hexagon appears to have no imperfections.

The box features a drop front door and also a hinged lid on the top. There is a key for the lock but it does not seem to turn the mechanism inside. The box opens without use of the key. The decorative inlay materials on top are brass and colored bone( or other material. The colors are red. White and blue. There is hand engraving on the inlayed pieces. Note.some of the brass decoration is missing and 2 pieces of the colored inlay material is missing. The box has a decorative beading motif all around the edges of the lid. The dial is alabaster and measures 12 1/2 inches in diameter; the numerals are large porcelain and rest in solid brass trim plates of which all are bright polished and lacquered. The back panel and case are brass inlay in red tortoise shell separated by a very fine and decorative brass casting of which all is polished and lacquered. Up for sale is a rare and beautiful French game box with an assortment of 62 square. Round, and rectangular multi-colored believed to be painted bone gaming chips. This box, made of a deep, exquisitely grained wood with 2 lines of marquetry around the edges and satinwood on the inside, was made during or shortly after the Napoleonic III Era, C1870-1900. Three of the four trays and the round wooden dice dish are removable. The fifth middle front tray is either missing or was not intended. There is a functioning lock with the original key as shown. This beautiful old serving tray is probably 70-80 years old. Judging by the other items it was packed with in the attic. It is handcrafted from various woods, with a mahogany finish. The underside may be pine and I tried to show a good picture of what it looks like. The tray measures 22 1/2" long(plus the handles) 13" wide, and 2" deep. The intricate inlay work is beautiful. It is a Tansu cabinet(probably a type known as a Haribako, used for storing small objects, and ideal for use as a jewellery cabinet) Measuring 13” tall. 11.5” wide and 5.75” deep, this very attractive cabinet features a front and top covered in marquetry work of amazing quality and design- the doors open to reveal 6 drawers similarly finished in the same exquisite workmanship.
