Straight from the contents of a recent clearance is this beautiful Wooden picture. Inlaid marquetry design featuring a Persian/ Middle Eastern Oasis scene with Elephants. 16 inches wide and 10 and half inches high Approx 60 years old. All ready to hang on the wall. Please see pictures. Vintage item so some light scratches. Postage All my items are weighed before listing and a little extra weight added for the wrapping. You are bidding on a lovely petit French side or accent table just right for a lamp or vase. Measures 18" wide by 12" and 28" high. Shelf below is 15" by 10" Has fan(star) design marquetry on top and shelf with a band of inlay on the top. Sides are also marquetry design. One drawer on the top front measures 10" across. Nice small ormolu bow and flower design on each of the top of the legs. I believe it to be walnut but I do not know for sure. Delicate table with lovely shaped legs. Vintage German Marquetry Pictures - Rothenburg (Hotel Markusturm) & Alt-Bremen
Both of these were purchased by my grandfather when he was stationed in Germany. One is a street scene of Alt-Bremen. The other is a picture of the historic hotel Markusturm in Rothenburg. I do not really want to get rid of them, but the southern climate is not kind to marquetry art. Some of the veneers on the Rothenburg Picture are starting to peel at the edges and will need minor restoration. The other is in good shape. These are very nice pieces.

This vintage Persian painting is reverse-painted on glass in a wood marquetry frame. It is so labor intensive it boggles the imagination. There are so many hours and weeks of exact work necessary to create such a fine result. It measures an imposing 23.5 inches wide by just under 20 inches tall. This auction is for ONE vintage Persian Khatam jewellery/document box.The technique used to decorate inside and outside the box is ancient traditional marquetry. Different types of fruit and colored wood are joined together with brass rods. Glued, sliced and applied in incredible precise and colorful patterns. Patterns are divided by rows of thin bone or ebony bands. This skillful work has passed on through many generations The top of the box is hand painted and signed by the artist. This box was probably made in the 70's and is in excellent condition. It is 10" long. 7" wide and 5" high.

This is a vintage wooden wall hanging; I believe they call this marquetry or inlaid wood. It depicts St. Michael's Gate or Church in Bratislava. The capital of Slovakia. It is 15 x 7" x just under 1/2" thick. There's a hanger on the back and some writing, but I couldn't make it out-some or all of the writing is in a foreign language. The only flaw I found on it was cracking in the protective coating. Lots of detailed work on this.

This is a vintage 1940s-50s collectible Japanese wooden marquetry box for holding a deck of cards or a pack of cigarettes. It measures 3 1/2"w x 5 1/8"l x 2"t. The top has two scotty dogs on the lid- one black. One white. It has a partial souvenir sticker on the front that can be scraped off. There is a small chip in the front's veneer top stripe and a sliver of wood off the top stripe on the right side. The mark on the last photo of what appears to be a crack is actually a scratch in the veneer layer. The back has a wad of what appears to be red wax that should be able to be chipped off. Vintage Antique Marquetry Veneer Inlaid 36" Ruler Folk Art Sewing Gaming Board
Up for auction is a vintage antique 2 sided wood sewing and gaming marquetry inlaid board recently found at auction in the suburban Philadelphia PA area. This would look fantastic displayed on any wall in any room with a marquetry flair. One side has an inlaid 36" ruler and a waist cut out for table top extension. The other side has a screened chess. Checker and backgammon game board. This is quite distressed with sewing markings(pinking? throughout, scratches, dings cracks, and overall losses to the jointed pieces of wood. The wood has dried so there are hairline spaces between some of the joints where the two colored woods were joined. Just a beautiful board. Antique Oak Dual Compartment Tea Caddy in Oak, with Geometric Marquetry Work
Charming dual compartment tea caddy in oak from the mid-Victorian era. The caddy has wonderfully detailed marquetry on its front. Side, and shaped top in various shades of oak, and inside, covering its two compartments are small, fitted oak lids with tiny oak handles. Also inside is a lovely paper banner, in Chinese, glued to the top of the lid. The box is in very good to excellent condition. There is a small crack on the back of the lid. Apparently from pushing the lid too far open in the past; however, it doesn't affect the functionality of the lid, as it closes nicely. All the marquetry is intact; no missing pieces. The foil linings that most tea caddies of that time had are missing. The box measures 4 7/8" at its tallest. At the crown piece on the lid. The box stands 3 3/4" tall at the edge of the lid and is 6 1/2" ... moreacross by 4" deep. This is an auction for a HUDSON RIVER INLAY by Jeff Nelson titled Orcas Moondance. Production of Orcas Moondance was limited to November 1997 to November 1999. The scene is of 4 Killer whales. Two have their dorsal fins above the water. One has his tail out and one is jumping in front of the moon. It is 6 3/4" by 9 1/2" by 3/4" frame. This is signed Nelson on the front. On the reverse side in an information sheet about Marquetry, the process of making wood inlay, the care instructions with lemon oil as well as the different woods and which parts of the picture are made with which type of wood. There are two types of maple, Myrtle and Red Gum from the United States, Wenge, Sapele& Ebony from Africa, Purpleheart& Costello from South America and Harewood from Europe. This is a marquetry picture entitled"Fisherman's Cove"It used over a dozen different types of wood from many different countries.The list shown. Names the type of wood and the country from which they came.It is signed with burnt lettering by the artist F.X.Napoleon Goulet. I was curious who this man was so I researched his name on the internet. It turns out that he was a carpenter in the Falls River,Mass. area and did some special woodworking for a local church.His name also brought up an obituary listing from Virginia which had his wife who passed at age 86.It said she was the widow of Mr.Goulet,so I assume he did this picture some years back. It has a lovely pierced design around the border as well as a wonderful micro mosaic border. It has a few slight scuff marks and tad bit of the micro mosaic is lost. The subject matter is very interesting. This tray is from an estate and it is written on the back that it was purchased in Sorrento in 1921. I gather from the inscription that the dancer was popular in her time. They are dancing the Tarantella. The tray presents itself very well. It measures 12.5" in diameter and is 1.25" tall. Antique Wooden Expandable Book Rack with Inlay Marquetry
Made of walnut this bookrack has an inlaid or marquetry design in its' center and one on each side. And all three of the designs are different, as shown in the pictures. There are also cutouts or fretwork designs around the inlay on both sides and the center. The rack may have been made in Italy as it says Ricordo below the center design, which means remembrance in Italian. The rack is 13" long and expands to 21" when both sides are pulled out. Vtg Wood Inlay Marquetry Panel Picture Rothenburg Germany Wooden German I believe this wonderful panel is from the 1940's. This is a fresh estate find of a former military officer who served during World War II. The panel measures apx. 7 1/4" x 9 3/4" It appears to have been framed at one time for the edges of panel show signs of a frame. Needs to be cleaned to bring back to it's original beauty, the detail on this is fantastic, the edges of panel are rough and some of the varnish is worn. Older Cribbage Board Box Marquetry Inlayed Wood W/Drawer for Striped Pegs
Found at a recent sale is this older cribbage board box with a marquetry design in very good condition with no broken parts and the drawer opens and closes easily. The wooden box measures 12 1/2inches long. 4 1/2 inches deep and 2 1/2 inches high. The drawer contains 4 striped pegs to match the marquetry and the length allows for two decks of cards. The box is walnut and has minimal wear to the wood; it looks good. The box sits on four legs. Nice addition to an older/vintage cribbage board collection.

Antique Dutch Oval inlaid mahogany galleried tray with seashell marquetry centre
From circa 1820 this beautiful Dutch Antique large oval mahogany galleried and inlaid tray. The centre of the tray has a satinwood inlaid marquetry seashell design. The tray has 2 wonderful mahogany shaped lifting handles. This is typical of a Dutch tray from this time. This is probably the only difference with the English trays from this time. The tray is in very good condition. It has a beautiful patina and the signs and marks of age only add to the charm of this original piece. Unbelievable when you think this is nearly 200 years old. Large 1900-1950 Carved Mahogany French Marquetry Inlaid Side Tables multi-color
Offered is a very fine pair of antique French Marquetry Inlaid and pierced carved side or lamp tables. These tables are about as close to new in condition as I have seen for 75-90 year old pieces. Accented with strechers and pie crust shelves. These 2 tables will add to any home or office decor. Dimensions are 24 inches square at the top and 14.5 inches diameter on the shelves, there is plenty of room for your favorite pair of lamps and plenty of extra space to place items on the table surfaces. I just noticed taking the time to turn the tables over that they have included a picture of the special blocks of wood inserted in the table legs and side trim as a way of connecting the pieces together. There is also on a fair part of the carvings with gilt(looks like antique gold paint possibly) really striking on these 2 tables.
