Hudson River Inlay Lighthouse Rock Jeff Nelson marquetry inlaid wood over-sanded
This is an extremely rare original rendition"Lighthouse Rock" signed and over-sanded by renowned marquetry artist Jeffrey Alan Nelson. Which measures 9 1/2" x 12 1/2" The over sanding was most likely accidental, and the piece was signed, which makes it extremely unusual. He works out of his Hudson River Inlay studio located in New York. You may have seen him and his work at a craft show. The art of marquetry is the process of inlaying different types of wood to create the image of the object. No two pieces are ever the same, due to the nature of the wood; its varying grain and hue. There is gumwood for the sky, beech for the beach, and myrtlewood for the waves. It comes with a listing of which woods have been used and the corresponding location. After the woods were inlaid in making the piece, it was glued, pressed, sanded, ... moresealed, and covered with lemon oil to final seal it. There is no painting. There is a small area over sanded in the sky. The frame is solid mahogany. Kraft paper is attached to the back of the frame and there is a hanger for hanging on the wall. Please see the photos. Up for auction is this charming vintage Victorian Renaissance Revival Style- Italian inlaid wood- jewelry/music box/chest with dancing ballerina- two levels with two hinged top drawers that swing out and two compartments underneath- all 4 sections are lined with a quilted red satiny material. This is being offered"as is as found" it is a vintage used piece and shows wear consistent with it's age and use. There is some crazing to the wood. And a white mark on the top, there is no key, the mirrors have spots and are missing some silvering and the fabric needs to be glued to the sides in some spots in the lower section. Still a charming piece that displays beautifully. The top's trim along the top and the 4 feet are made up of slivers of different colored wood giving it a unique striped affect. I have a rare french art nouveau marquetry tray by Charles Spindler of Alsace c. 1900-1930. The work depicts a town in Alsace. It's in relatively good condition with some age related ware to wood which can probably be polished off with some linseed oil. there is also a small black spot under the glass in the lower right corner near the signature. Otherwise in nice shape.

Large oval beveled mirror with top crest, glass top, serpentine front and the matching seat. The seat in it's self is quite unique in the high curved sides, legs with claw feet. The table is 43 inches wide, 19 inches deep, 62 inches high on back to tip of crest on the mirror, the seat is 16 inches deep, 29 inches wide, 18 1/2 inches to the floor, sides are 24 inches tall and the total condition of the piece is very good, has been well cared for, with just a very few minor veneer repairs. This is an original"White Rosette" design by renowned marquetry artist Jeff Nelson. Jeff currently works out of his Hudson River Inlay studio located in New Windsor. NY. You may have seen him and his work at a craft show. The art of marquetry is the process of inlaying different types of wood to create the image of the object. No two pieces are ever the same, due to the nature of the wood; its varying grain and hue. It was cut, glued down, sanded, and finished with a white, milky finish. There is no painting. Antique. 19th century chess set with chess board that serves as case for storage of the chess pieces. The case measures 13.8 x 13.8 inches. The case has a bowed shaped with a drawer that has an exotic wood handle. The board is all wonderfully inlaid wood with an inlaid greek key design along the border. The pieces are all present and for size reference, the king is 2.4 inches tall. Condition: The pieces are all in very good condition with some light wear from use to color on some of the red pieces. The felt underneath each has been painstakingly replaced with new felt. The case has a natural split in the wood underneath and two of the feet were replaced. please consult last photos) The lining of the drawers have also been replaced with antique velvet.

It measures 38.5 inches tall with a widest width of 27 inches and depth of almost 27 inches and a cushion height from the floor of 14 inches. ... moreHere's what I stated about this gorgeous ornate chair's condition: Paint worn down due to great age and shows wood underneath in spots. Scratches and scuff marks as is normal for antique wear. Cushion is soft and chair is made so you sit low and your feet can touch the ground easily. Very heavy. Dense wood that I believe is mahogany. All marquetry parquetry wood pinwheels are intact, except on the back bottom side rail where I substituted ornate cones in place of where the missing pinwheels would have been. Upholstery fabric is odor free but lightly soiled in certain spots which could be cleaned up, and the fabric is a bit worn with age as is normal, but otherwise presentable and usable for this beautiful chair. Very strong, sturdy, and stable and able to withstand significant weight. Truly a unique and rare chair of exceptional beauty and artistry. So you may want to grab it quick, before it is gone! The top has inlaid framing with a very detailed tobacco leaf inlaid wood to the center. Matching veneers to all sides including bottom. No scratches or dings and no restoration or fixes have been done. A very rare humidor purchased in NYC in 1993 for just over $800.oo and kept in perfect shape ever since.
