Large 17" long antique bronzed European Grand Tour souvenir gondola from Venice. Italy that is also a music box. This figural gondola is cast in a heavy bronzed metal with excellent detail in the embossed ornate designs. It still has the original metal Gondolier with his long oar at the back. The top of the middle canopy is hinged and lifts open to reveal a music box inside marked"REUGE- SWITZERLAND" It has a latch that triggers it to play when the lid is opened, but it only works when it wants to. It should be fixed. The wind up key is on the bottom of the hull, and there is a metal stand on which the boat rests. The cross rod in the stand also needs to be secured. I would think this Grand Tour bronze figure of William Tell and his son dates from the early 1800’s. it is particularly well cast as you would expect from bronzes of this period. Even the boy’s toes have been modelled with clearly defined toenails(see close up photo below) The base stand which I think is alabaster(but I’m not sure of that) has been naturalistically carved to simulate rough terrain. The height, including stand is approximately 8 inches and it weighs approximately 1.5 Kg. This is a genuine hot cast bronze, NOT bronze resin. Antique World War 1 Memorabilia Italian Grand Tour Wall Pocket Vase Numbered
World War I began in 1914& ended in 1918- at one point. This folk art Italian style floral wall pocket was given as a WWI Italian or grand tour gift item to American& British soldiers- Known as Majolica or Faïenceift. It is about 100 years old& is numbered on the back 152/233. I don't know the full background of this item. Other than the historian I spoke with who knew about this item- there is reference to this item when researching World War I and Majolica. It is highly collectible- but we don't know how many of the 233 original pieces are still in existence. There is a hole in the back& a hairline crack at the bottom center of the yellow petal. It is clay pottery. There is a pre-drilled hole for hanging. It is 10" long and the opening is 6.5" wide.

Very nice vintage Motobecane road bike. Early 80's for sale. Fully reconditioned. Perfect commuter or long distance cruising bike. 58cm lugged Vitus steel frame, with many new components. The frame and fork is constructed from Vitus 888 double butted chromolly steel. If you are looking for a neat touring bike for the summer, this could be the bike for you. Cosmetically, there are a few paint chips typically found on a thirty some year old bike, but overall the bike looks pretty good. There are no dents, bends, rust or re-welds on this frame. Mechanically, this bike has just been through a complete bare frame overhaul. Feel free to contact me on what was done in the overhaul, as it is quite extensive. All bearing systems have been inspected, cleaned and re-greased and everything checks out fine. Found at an estate auction: here is a charming antique bronze inkstand dating probably from the 1910's- 1920's. This Art Deco inkstand has two wells. Both with lids depicting famous Parisian sights: the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triumph, both as tinted photographs under glass. Between the two wells is a representation of the cathedral of Notre Dame, another famed destination in Paris. At the front of the wells is a pen rest. The stand is decorated on all sides with Art Deco detailing and embellishments. This was probably an exotic souvenir collected by an young American tourist of the time. On her"Grand Tour" of European capital cities. Interior well inserts are missing, but all else is intact and in excellent condition. The stand is left with its natural patina.
