PAIR of ANTIQUE GRAND TOUR/RENAISSANCE? CAST BRONZE MOUNTS- 2 EMBRACING MERMEN Description. These are two interesting cast bronze mounts with pierced open-work design in the Renaissance manner. Depicting two embracing mermen or Triton kissing. They are slightly curved. I'm not sure if these were made as helmet mounts or harness mounts or for some other regalia. One still has 2 copper rivets for attaching to something. Possibly Italian or German in manufacture. The colour and wear would suggest that these are of an early date- possibly 18th-early 19th century but they could possibly be earlier. Widest point approx 4.5/8 in(12cm) Height 2.3/4in(7cm) In very good condition for age but one either has a casting flaw or loss to the bottom edge of scroll work- see photos or ask questions. This is an engraving of the Piazza Di S Pietro in Vaticano or St Peter's Square from the mid 1800's. These engravings would be taken home as mementos from the Grand Tour. This print may have been trimmed. ROSS PROFESSIONAL SUPER GRAND TOUR BLACK 1979 VINTAGE BUILT IN ALLENTOWN PA. A USA Bike! From 2002 through 2007 I extensively collected Schwinn Bicycles. Usually stingrays and Fastbacks. Most are now sold to private collectors but I have few left that I think will get your attention. I picked this bike up 4 years ago in St. Louis. This bike is a very nice 1979 Ross with the Shimono 600 Arabesque group set. I bought this from the original owner. I also have the instruction booklet to be included. In August 2014 the entire bike has been taken apart. All bearings cleaned and greased, all points lubbed and then rebuilt and tuned to good riding condition. The original paint has been cleaned and polished. The black paint is not sun aged and is a good deep color. The decals have a little loss of the gold but not enough to be real noticable. There ... moreis no rust in or under the paint. The chrome and aluminum on the rims and other surfaces has been polished and is in very good shape. I used only Turtle wax chrome cleaner to buff out all the chrome surfaces and Mothers for the Aluminum. There are a few nicks and some on the chain stay but nothing is worth photographing. It is a used bike but was well cared for. Lightly riden and rust free. I have restored a little over 100 bikes. I do not repaint them. This bike rides exceptionally well and the frame and rims are straight. No accidents or repairs have been done. This is a turnkay bike I am selling for less than the cost of a total rebuild. About 4 years ago I added new tires and a new saddle. The saddle that originally came with the bike was an old schwinn varsity saddle from the 90's. The new saddle as pictured is very comfortable and has the essential cut away for men. This bike is 100% original except: Seat. Tires, Bar Tape. Frame Height: 25 inches Take a look at the photos and you will agree that this is a nice bike. Antique Roman Empire copy Augustus Urn Grand Tour Art Artifact Legion bronze
From my personal collection and one of a kind item. A beautiful antique styled Roman Empire copy of the Urn of the Roman Emperor Augustus in the Grand Tour style. The Roman Emperor Augustus Family mausoleum was a towering cylindrical building in Rome at one time but although all of the marble and bronze grandeur of the structure has been robbed over the ages. It is still quite remarkable to see just how much still exist. I have been there in person myself and with a little imagination and knowledge of ancient Roman architecture, you can visualize the once breath taking building. On either side of this very impressive bronze urn are two beautifully sculpted Capricorn heads or goats heads which hold Roman triumphal vistory garlands in their mouths which was a common decoration in ancient Romes marble architecture. The Roman Emperor Augustus ... morebirth sign was the Capricorn or the half goat and half fish mythological animal. Augustus used the Capricorn on more of his own coinage then any other type of animal, mythological or not. Many of the legion's instituted under Augustus used the Capricorn as they considered themselves as born(or formed) under Augustus. This symbol should not be confused with the bull which was also used by legions formed under Augustus but actually tied into Caesar's family of which Augustus was a member. The large and impressive bronze urn stands 18 inches tall and 15 1/2 inches wide. It weights over twenty popunds. Most of the cost of this beautiful work of art is not due to the fanstastic art part but due to the cost of the bronze. Makes a wonderful decoration for the home or office or even a Roman Legates campaign tent as high ranking Roman officer's would have taken the comforts of home with him while stationed on the frontier. Vintage solid alabaster figural paperweight of the Lion of St. Mark. The symbol of Venice, Italy. This winged lion is depicted with his front paw holding up an open book inscribed"Pax tibi Marce evangelista meus" meaning"Peace be with you, Mark, my evangelist" This old alabaster or marble figurine measures 4.5" tall on a 5.25" by 2.25" base, and weighs almost 1.5 lbs. These Lion of St. Mark figurines were made as Grand Tour souvenirs from Venice during the early 1900's. Not sure when this one was made, but it is definitely old, most likely early 20th century. Wonderful early 20th century grande tour souvenirs form the Manekin Pis. A 16th century Baroque fountain in Brussels, Belgium famous for its statue of the boy urinating into the fountain. Even your grandparents' grandparents had a sense of humor. This is a two piece desk set in heavy cast bronze with marvelous original, uncleaned patina. Features the letter opener with manekin pis handle, and a wax seal tamper or statuette of the same motif. The letter opener measuring about 5.5 inches and the statuette measuring about 3 inches high. A lovely and highly collectible set. Bought from the estate of an elder diplomat from South Louisiana. Who travelled in Europe in 1890s-1910, and dating from that time period.

Ebonite Grand Tour 3 Navy/Silver Bowling Bag USED
This bag is USED but still in good condition. This Ebonite Grand Tour III bowling bag is a nice bag with heavy duty wheels and a huge accessory pouch and shoe compartment. There are 2 things wrong with this bag but do not take anything away from its mobility and use. The 1st thing wrong is the bag's base has a small crack in that is shown in the 1 picture. As you can see the bag still stands though with no problem. The other thing wrong is the bag is missing the male end of the clip to the strap that holds the balls in the bag without moving around. Again not a huge issue as the balls are still separated by a divider and stay in the bag when it is zipped up. This is still a great bag for the price and is almost double brand new. The base and stand can be screwed off to become either a Greek or a Roman libation vessel to pour over an alter or used to hold grapes. Bread and cheese during a festive night at the villa. This antique Grand Tour item came from Rome and represents as well as follows usual depiction of a bacchanal with“wine. Women and song” as well as a Dionysia which was a large festival in ancient Athens in honor of the god Dionysus. The central events of which were the theatrical performances of a dramatic nature. Overall the mask is in excellent condition, with only minor blemishes from the creation-process; absolutely no chips or cracks! Mask measures approximately 6 ½" in length, 4 ¼" in width, and 2 ¼" in depth. This item strikes me as some sort of souvenir— the kind of thing a scholarly traveler might pick-up in France as they made the Grand Tour of Europe. With no maker’s mark. Victorian Antique Patinated Cast Iron Recumbant Lion - Grand Tour - Landseer
I think this is one of my most favorite estate finds ever! In the early 1860's. During the reign of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, Sir Edwin Henry Landseer was commissioned to create four huge bronze lion figures to sit at the base of Nelson's Column in Trafalgar Square in London. Landeer designed the lions and they were cast by Baron Marochette. They were placed in Trafalgar Square in 1867, shortly before Landseer passed away in 1873. Landseer was a favorite artist of Queen Victoria. When these giant lions were finally unveiled. There was a hue and cry in London because the lion's tongue was hanging out of the side of it's mouth and Londoners thought this was undignified. Landseer, who worked from photos and other artist's engravings of wildlife, based most of this lion sculpture on other artist's engravings. But, ... morefor these lions, he used his own house cats as models and oddly enough, his cats had tongues that lolled outside of their mouths. Pretty amazing stuff, eh? These Grand Tour lions were made with the tongues back in the lions' mouths so that the lion appeared more dignified and regal. Anyway. The lions were so popular that smaller versions were cast in bronze and iron and many of these were sold to tourists on the"grand tour. This particular lion is cast iron and looks like, at one time, it might have been silver plated because the front legs of the big cat have a silver cast to them. Whatever plating was used, presumably to protect the lion from the elements since many were placed on pedestals in the garden, some of it has worn off over the years. So, this lion has a moderately weather worn feeling to it, with just a hint of rust on the rump. That said, the detail of the casting is still fabulous and does not look like it survived the elements in any way, shape or form. So, it might have been outside only in summers. A lovely antique 3-stone real lava cameo brooch. Mid-late Victorian in date. The cameos are in a light sage green lava stone, carved with classical faces- nicely detailed, and quite a deep carving.
