Rare French Perpetual Calendar Mantel Clock Signed'Cromey. Bristol' Circa 1850 Very nice gilt bronze French Perpetual Calendar Clock with marble base. Enamel dials and the case is glazed(glass) on the sides/rear. The c lock's movement operates properly and the clock is in excellent condition. The 14 day movement strikes the hours and half hours on a bell with a Brocot dead beat escapement visible through the upper dial and a compensated pendulum of brass and steel peculiar to Ellicott's design. The gilt engraved dial mask; the upper white enamel dial with blue steel'Breguet' style hands and Roman chapter ring; the lower perpetual calendar showing: day. Date, month, equation of time, and moon phase. The numbers on the calendar dial around the inner circle indicate the difference between solar and mean time. Which shows ... morethe'equation of time' This allowed people to set their clocks by using their sundials. The movement signed'Cromey. Bristol' and numbered 31945. The calendar movement numbered 31756. The case is glazed on three sides and open to the front; multi-colored gold ormolu on a white marble base; surmounted by a'ruffled pigeon' numbered 39703. William Cromey is listed in Britten’s as a clockmaker and jeweler in Bristol. 1842. As with many French clocks in the 19th century they were made in France but sold in England. Antique English or French fusee movement wall clock
DESCRIPTION Selling this original antique fusee movement wall clock. I do not know the manufacturer. As there is no maker mark on the clock. I am assuming it is English made but it could be Continental. This is an old, solid clock, built with a standard English style schoolhouse type wooden case, in excellent condition, with a spring clip retained hinged lower door. The clock case itself is built in two pieces. The front piece is the face, which is a lacquered paper glued to a solid heavy metal disk, with the works attached via standard lynch pins and posts. The back half is essentially a wooden box, which friction fits over two ribs on the front and is secured with two angled wooden dowels. The works are heavy, solid brass, and the clock itself functions well. The pendulum hangs on a two position pin, and frankly it is a bit of a pain to ... moreget the clock pendulum in position once the clock case is together. However, once everything is in position, this clock runs very well. The fusee movement is very smooth, and winds tightly. The case is a very pretty honey coloured oak, I think, and is in fine condition. The glass of the door may have been replaced, as it is flat and I would have thought it would be curved, but hard to tell. It has most certainly been re-secured in place at some point, as it is held in with clear silicon caulking which I'm pretty darn sure wasn't around in the mid 1800's! Note that this is a heavy clock because of the fusee movement and the face. So will need to be hung on a decent size hook-it weights a little over 12 pounds! I have quite number of pictures of the clock. But of course Ebay only allows 12-if interested, please contact me and I can email shots of whatever is desired. Please do study the pictures in the auction description. As they form an important part of the description. The flaws: 1. Here is a great old French cartel wall clock for your buying consideration. Recently acquired it at an estate sale. Would make a great gift or keep it for yourself. This clock probably dates to the early 1900s to as late as the early 1930s. Great looking patinated gilt solid bronze case on this one with a very nice gold colored finish. All the trim seems intact. I see no broken or repaired pieces. The top of the case has a bow on it. France" is inscribed on the back part of the bow topper. There is leafing on the metal case around the clock face. The finish on the clock appears to be original. Not redone which makes it more collectible and valuable. The clock face has a convex piece of glass ... moreover it that is intact in its' bezel. There is a hairline crack in the glass up by the roman numeral 10. See pic#8 to view. The bezel is still securely attached to the clock case. The finely engraved gold colored hands match and look appropriate to the clock. The enamel face of the clock looks great with just minor wear. The clock movement is French and made by Samuel Marti. It has the numbers"86" on the bottom middle of the movement. Has the Samuel Marti seal inscribed above this number with the award he won in a 1900 Paris exhibition for the movement. Made in France" is also inscribed in scroll on the back of the movement. The 8 day movement has a ticking top-mounted balance platform. Is original and in absolute great working condition. This makes the clock a real bargain because of the high cost of getting one overhauled& restored. The giltwood case has sunburst like rays extending outwards with a nice brass case with a convex-shaped glass lens mounted to the front access door. The glass panel has no chips, cracks or repairs. French Vineyard Wall Clock Don't know too much about this clock. It was my late moms which she bought about 35+ years ago. I was told it is called a French Vineyard Clock and was made somewhere in mid to late 1800s. I tried to get the clock to work but for some reason it only works without the pendulum attached and I didnt want to try and disassemble since I am not a clock-worker. Clock measures 24" high x 20" wide x 5.5" deep Condition is very good for its age. It has some cracking and doesn't look to have been restored anywhere. Antique Friesian (French) Farmers Wall Clock. About 200 hundred plus years old.
This is an update as of Oct. 10.2012.I Purcase in antique shop in the Hague, Netherlands in early 1970's. I was told, at that time, the clock was over 100 years old. I received an e mail from an interested party indicating I was selling at too low a price. This week I had an Antique Wall Clock repair person come to my home to adjust and oil the clock. He told me the clock dates back to very late 1700's or very early 1800's. Face name is shown as F.RICQUE at top of face and below middle THE WORDS- a CHATEAUBERIAN. Clock face appears to be Porcelian, The copper relief surronds the face of the clock and also is the material for the Pendulum and the relief of both pieces are flowers painted and showing copper relief. Weights are iron and attached by heavy cord for winding. Clock comes with two KEY's to wind clock. There are metal ... moredoors on each side of clock box so you have access to clock moving parts. Clock is mounted at the back on wood and is painted black. I made a Cherry wall background to match the countour of the outline of the clock. The clock simply hangs on that Cherry 3/4 inch background wich attaches to wall. I show clock hanging on blank wall and on Cherry background. Because of advise from two people who seems to have knowledge about the clock I am raising the asking price. Buyer responsible for package/shipping/insurance.

Up for bids is this beautiful Antique Japy Freres. Medaille D'Honeur Figural Statue Clock in running condition, striking a Bell on the hours and half hour. 8 day time and strike. It's 17" tall with a 3 1/4" Porcelain Dial with a slight chip at the top of the Dial at the regulator square, hard to see, look at photo#11. Nice Alabaster in base of Clock. The movement is signed and the back of the case is signed also. It's been lacquered to prevent paint loss. The case is made of heavy Spelter with a heavy brass Bezel and rear door and has a nice convex Glass. Every thing about this clock is original except for the lacquered protection. Oustanding Ornate. Large and Heavy French 19th Century Figural Bronze D'Ore Ormolu Clock, in Superb Fully Working Condition Outstanding French clock in unbelievable condition. Depicting a woman reclining on a couch, eating grapes. Very ornate, large and quite heavy, with beautiful filigree dial, forming part of the clock's design. No damage that I can find whatsoever. There is some tarnishing on the clock's sides(mostly on the right side) but most of the gilding is just superb- the clock really shines. Pendulum and bell were removed to take a better picture of the movement, but both are included with the clock. Interestingly, bell attaches to the clock's case, rather than to the movement. I have never sen this before. Pictures speak for themselves, but do let me know if you have any additional questions. All glasses are beveled. Couple of very faint hairlines in the porcelain dial. Movement is marked MADE IN FRANCE back plate is numbered 913. This is a beautiful Bronze Gold gilded antique French mantle clock. What can I say about this piece of art. This clock is absolutely breathtaking. The clock dates to around 1840s has a beautiful girl playing a Harp, it measures 13 1/2 inches tall and 8 1/2 inches wide. Antique Grandfather Clock Pre 1885 Possibly French Like A MOBIER - Civil War Era
This auction will be for a really well built antique grandfather clock. Truly built like a MOBIER right down to the movement being mounted to a frame suited to being hung on a wall. Also the crown over the dial resembles a MOBIER. There is however no markings to support it being a MOBIER but it sure looks like it. The clock case is slightly over 8' tall and solid wood.Without any problems or apparent alterations. There is some damage to the dial but not awful. It was serviced 6 months ago and has new cord for the weights. The movement is a bellstrike striking correctly at the top of the hour. This clock came out of a collection that was dedicated to civil war era furniture. It's exact age is unknown since the original owner has passed away. Antique Silver Swiss Clock w Pink French Guilloche Enamel and Marcasites (#4125)
Antique hanging clock. Clock is Swiss set in silver with guilloche enamel and marcasites. Probably French and dating to the late 19th/ early 20th century. Measurements: diameter of clock alone is 1 7/8 inches. The mount is 4 inches long. Excluding ribbon and bar with loop. Total length is approx 7 1/4 inches. Exquisitely made and finest. Finest workmanship all round. Mount is silver with engine turned, pink guilloche enamel in patterns that seem to hover and dance as the light catches the surface. The bar that suspends the ribbon and rest of the piece is in matching silver and enamel. Both pieces are hallmarked on the back with 935- above sterling standard of silver. The clock has a border in blue guilloche enamel. Also engine turned, with a very fine pattern. It is set with applied numerals, all done in silver and marcasites. The hands of ... morethe clock are similarly set. The silver border of the clock has a tiny engraved SWISS. OK! SO. LET'S KICK OFF THE NEW YEAR WITH MORE COOL STUFF! PLEASE NOTE: All the clocks that I will be posting on ebay come from a now-deceased clock collector and restorer. After his death. His family auctioned off his inventory and I have ended up with numerous clocks from his shop and collection. I am not an expert on clocks, but I will do the best I can to give you as much information as I can on these items. HERE'S A FRENCH-MADE LARGE FOB-TYPE WALL CLOCK. VERY ORNATE AND COOL LOOKING! IT'S STILL TICKING! What this means is that it winds and after I wound it gently for two rotations it ran. Kept time, for a day and a half AND IS STILL GOING! The key can be seen in the photos. This clock does not seem to have been made to support a glass clock facing. I can't see any way a cover glass could have been supported or hinged. ... moreTherefore, I assume it was made without a glass clock cover. I can find no manufacturer's markings other than the'Made in France' etch on the back. Could use some dusting and polishinig As with all clocks of this age. Although it may be ticking, it probably needs a cleaning, adjustments, etc. This ornate clock weighs a little over 3 lbs and measures 13 inches high by 5.5 inches wide and 2.5 inches deep.
