Antique French Clock Dial and Back Ring This is an old porcelain dial with a solid brass beaded rim. It measures approximately 3-5/8" in diameter. The dial has some flaws which can be seen in the photos. There's some shipping around the winding holes and between the 8 and 9. There's a fast/slow hole above the 12. The winding holes are approximately 3/4" from the center hole to winding hole and 1-1/4" from left to right hole. The name in small print is Raingo Feres Paris. It probably dates to 1820-1860. This clock is in superb cosmetic condition, showing only slight age-appropriate wear to the case. The gilt is bright, and the case is free of restorations. We are not clock experts, and have not tested the movement. It appears complete, and rings properly when struck. I do not know if it keeps accurate time, and can make no guarantees. Date: Around 1830/40(Charles X period) Materials: The column clock is made out of rosewood and all over adorned with fine detailed clear wood marquetry. The fine ciseled bronze enclosures of the colums. The bob of the compensated pendulum and the bezel are all mercury gilded- therefore they have this beautiful yellowish tone. The clock comes with the original iron Breguet hands, the dial face is made with a great love to the detail(see close-up picture below) The 8-day movement is equipped with one hammer. It chimes the full hours fully and the half hours once. The chime sounds clear and loud(due to the silver-plate of the brass bell) Measurements: The total height of the portico clock is 18.9" 48 cm) The max. length of the clock ... moreis about 9.5" 24 cm) The pendulum has a length of 9.5" 24 cm) The dial face has a diameter of 5.5" 14 cm) incl. the bezel) The total weight of the clock is about 10.6 lbs(4.8 kg) Condition: The entire clock is in very good. Tiffany & Co Brass French Carriage Clock for Repair
Up for bid is a Tiffany and Co. brass carriage clock for repair. Time only. The back of the works reads Made In France. The clock is all brass and measures 4& ½" in height not including the handle. The porcelain dial faintly reads Tiffany& Co. but has cracks and is broken pretty badly in the upper right corner. The hour hand appears to be a little shorter than it should be. The beveled glass on the right side is probably from another clock and is slightly short(see picture) The front glass has a chip at the right bottom corner. Gilded chapter ring, all to add to the luxery design. It has some signs of use, meaning that chips and flea bites are on the marble here and there, but nothing I would concider disturbing. Marble could use a good polishing. All in all by far one of the nicest designs I have seen of the art deco period. Lead is a soft metal that casts detail very well. And this is no exception. A circular space to center with a back door for the clock. The front diameter is 10" with an inner lip. The surrounds of the case is amazing. A man and woman lay at the top with vine leaves and grapes as the extra decoration. Very fine detail to the figures and flora. This item is a beautiful antique French carriage clock with original travel case. Likely late 1800's. The clock has been professionally restored and serviced and is running beautifully. Keeping excellent time. All original bevelled glass windows are intact in great condition, no cracks or chips. The clock still has the original white enamel dial in perfect condition, hands look in great condition also. Some small signs of age and wear from the brass case, small scratches, dents etc, normal signs of age. Made in Fance" stamped on the balance platform. It measures 4.5" inches tall a little over 3"inches wide and 2.5" inches deep. Leather covered wood travel case shows wear with some patches of missing leather as shown in photos. CLASSIC ANTIQUE FRENCH"0bis" CARRIAGE CLOCK(made around 1900 by Couaillet Freres* IN EXCELLENT CONDITION* bearing the name on the dial of the retailer- Wm LISTER& SONS NEWCASTLE-UPON-TYNE I have been restoring vintage clocks for well over 30 years and finished work on this one in my workshop in early July 2013. I completely dismantled both the case and the movement. I checked the movement carefully for wear. Inserted a couple of new bushes, polished the pivots then cleaned polished and oiled it- front and back. After cleaning and polishing them, I gave the case parts a couple of coats of special wax polish before reassembling them. The whole clock is now in really very fine condition- in my opinion, about as good as these antique carriage clocks come! Height(with handle folded down) 4 1/2 inches(11.5 cms) Width 3 inches(8 cms) ... moreDepth 2 1/2 inches(6.5 cms) CASE: Solid brass in excellent original condition. All case parts including the base. Are stamped with the manufacturers batch number(77) The clock still has its original base masking plate. I stripped off the tarnish then cleaned, polished and waxed the parts prior to rebuilding the case. It now has a rich antique patina which should last for years before needing another polish, and looks much as it would have when new. MOVEMENT: An 8 day timepiece(i.e non-striking) B earing the Couaillet trademark arrow on the back plate(which is also inscribed"MADE IN FRANCE" Following restoration. It is in great condition and in full working order. As with the case, I completely dismantled the movement to clean and polish it. After rebuilding it, I oiled it with appropriate grades of clock oil. I also cleaned and oiled the original cylinder escapement- which now works strongly with very good amplitude and a particularly quiet tick. A fast/slow adjustment lever which operates on the escapement. Is reached through the rear glazed door(which opens and closes with satisfying precision- itself a good indicator that the clock has not been dropped at any ti

The casing is made from cast iron and has been repainted as the original paint had flaked off. Antique French MORBIER Country Clock with Repeater Bell Strike, Repousse Facade
with Repeater Bell Strike. Repousse Facade click picture to enlarge click picture to enlarge Morbier clocks were made starting in the late 1700's up through approximately WW1. One story has it that they were French country farm clocks. When farmers worked in their fields. On quite small farms, they knew when to come in for a meal or to end their day by listening to the clock ringing. Since they could not be sure they heard the first ring in order to count the hours, the Morbier clock was made with a repeater bell strike that would ring again 2-3 minutes after the first ringing. That way the farmers would know to pause and listen for the second ring to be sure of the hour. The age of this clock is unknown. The decorative repousse facade is highlighted with a large eagle at the top with wings spread wide. The porcelain dial has Roman numerals. ... moreThe maker is Chauveau& Delaunay. Apparently located in the town of Ruffec in Southwest France. The clock runs and timing is adjusted by raising or lowering the round bob of the pendulum on a long bolt with a nut. The cast iron weights add together to over 16 lbs. There are a number of imperfections for this 100-200 year old clock. The end of the hour hand is missing. There is a noticeable ding in the brass border or ring around the dial, there is a small hole in the repousse, a few hairline cracks or crazing in the dial, and some rust etc. Since the clock typically mounts fairly high on a wall, most of these blemishes do not draw attention from casual observation. Close-up pictures are provided to allow you to make your own evaluation of condition issues. The price already reflects these condition issues. Beautiful Heavy French Gorge Case Repeater,Striking/Alarm Carriage clock 1890
Hi I have for sale a1890s French striking and repeating/alarm carriage clock made in France which has had the case restored and the movement serviced and oiled running via the original silvered platform escapement. This fine beautiful heavy carriage clock was made in France around 18[G1] 90 and is in the sought after heavy gorge case with thick green tint old bevelled glass. The Case The case is in solid shiny brass and stands 7.5” high x 4” wide with a depth of 3” it is in perfect condition with mint thick 5mm bevelled sides/front/back door and top viewing glass. The case is very shinny and hard to photograph they do not do the clock justice at all. The Dial The dial is mint condition in white porcelain with Arabic numerals; the clock also retains its original black spade hands. The dial is housed in a perfect brass mask with brass centre ... morecircles behind the hands and alarm pointer just beautiful workmanship. The Movement The movement is an eight day time and strike which strikes the hours and halves via a blue steel gong to the rear also has the repeater button on top to repeat the last hour strike. A fully function alarm set at the back,the whole movement has been serviced and oiled so keeping great time over the eight days. Overall a very beautiful quality carriage clock by a quality French maker that looks stunning on display and contains all of its original features with the original key this is quite a rare find these days.
