French or Swiss pinwheel clock movement@ 1890. This movement is extremely high quality and complete except for the sweep seconds hand. Movement is extremely dirty. Maybe having never been taken apart, but is not rusty and will clean up nicely. Original suspension spring and beat regulator present. Original hour and minute hands. Original dial surround. The dial is hand wrought out of brass, and is very well done in an Arts and Crafts style, but is probably not original. It is very old, possibly more than 100 years, and probably done at the time this movement was put into the case that I also have listed this week. One would expect a porcelain dial for this sort of movement. Dial surround measures 13 7/8" diameter. This is a nice original@ 1890 weight from a French pinwheel regulator clock. Please see my other listings this week- the movement and pendulum that this weight came from are listed separately. It is a brass shell lead filled. May have been painted gold a very long time ago. And has a nice patina to it at this point. It is 5" high, not including the hook, x 2 1/4" diameter. Setting on brass claw feet. There is an eagle holding the cobalt blue ball on a rod and string. It is constantly revolving in a circular motion as the clock is running-this is the pendulum of the clock. It is alway moving in this circular direction above the time dial as the clock is running. Each of the three 4 inch diameter dials are porcelain, and the one on the left is a full calendar, with month, day of month, and day of the week, also having a moon dial. Listing is for a french black marble or slate clock case in restored condition. This case used to have a french clock that I sold for parts. The case was chipped in corners. The rite bottom side piece of slate was missing, and the clock had other small unsightly issues. This clock case is now very acceptable. See my pictures. Picture#9 shows where the missing piece of slate was rebuild. Not a perfect job but better looking then before. The bodies are made of faience(pottery) Very delicately decorated with scenes of a young couple in a country setting with a pale blue ground. Each piece is signed by the artist, F Perouche. One candelabrum has the gentleman reading a love letter delivered by a dove. On the other candelabrum she also reads a love letter and on the front of the clock they meet in a country park. The bodies are mounted with gilt brass in the Rococo style. The clock stands on acanthus bracket feet with a large and elaborate Rococo boat shaped urn to the top. It is mounted with Sevres style porcelain. Each piece is signed faintly on the reverse by the artist. It is decorated with a pompadour rose pink background, the panel below the dial is delicately painted with a scene of a young couple in a country scene with panels of floral swags to each side. The dial itself is decorated with a cherub with a pair of laurel wreaths, an allegory for success. It is lettered in white cartouches against the pink background with turquoise coloured enamel'jewel' half-hour markers. This is a stunning ... moreclock, fine ormolu rather then the usual gilt spelter and very original, unusually the case is stamped with the movement's serial number. Here's a fine Chelsea maritime clock from Marseille. France, with the original receipt apparently still in it, glued inside the lid. It reads"Optique Maritime de France, Sambroni et C, 116, Quai du Port 116, Marseille. I can't make out the handwritten part, but there does seem to be a date: 26.11.76" Also inside the lid is a blank brass plate for a monogram or inscription. The housing of the clock is solid brass and quite heavy. With a brass rim and glass cover. The clock works fine with one AA battery. There's some discoloration and a few light scratches on the brass rim. The box is mahogany with a brass hinge and clasp. If you need further photos. Just ask! Here I have for auction an XL Krietz Rollin a' Paris CH Paris& JUST French boulle clock. It works perfectly& is topped with a huge bronze flambé finale. In gold& stands at a magnificent 19 inches high. The Boulle clock chimes on its original gong on the half and the hour. It is in excellent condition and keeps excellent time. Its hand signed twice Kreitz Rollin a' paris to the face on the number six on the blue cartouche on the bronze front dial. Indicating its importance and that this is off the earlier 19th century As newer boulle clocks would have a ceramic plate with the name to the face hence the provenance of this clock is of the early 19th century. The bronze face is graced with roman numeral blue cartouches with a front viewing door with original key to open and close the bronze door to wind the chiming and ... moremoving train. Which is of an 8 day duration. I ts also stamped twice to the mechanism CH Paris& JUST. This Boulle clock also is fully serviced and works perfectly and is guaranteed by myself for 1 year. the Boulle clock is graced with side viewing bronze glass panels giving refraction of light and exposing the boulle inlay of the rear door and floor area which in turn accentuates the peacocks gracing the rear boulle bronze inlay door. It is also decorated to the rear door and floor area. The boulle workmanship is second to none and the pictures tell all. The Boulle clock serials numbers are exact and match up& the pendulum and key and case and movement are all 100 percent original to the boulle clock. Which is very rare in this day and age, as normally these are lost or changed over the years. This would add perfectly to any existing horologist's collection. Just acquired out of a wonderful private Midwest estate. We are able to offer this late 1800's era, VERY IMPRESSIVE" ~ VICTORIAN FRENCH FIGURAL SPELTER STATUE CLOCK ~. This would have been a fairly expensive clock to purchase back in the 1880's era and not many could afford such a fine luxury. We do not often see clocks that are as fancy and high end as this one. This is a fairly large clock measuring almost 24 inches tall by 10 inches wide by 9 inches deep. It has a beautiful natural onyx marble base and the entire clock weighs an amazing 31 pounds. The spelter statue is signed Aug. MOREAU, a very well known French sculptor. The clock is running, and has only been tested for a short time, and I would certainly imagine it could use a good cleaning and servicing because it has been tucked away for a very long time in the estate. ... moreThe over all condition is pretty decent with a few things that need to be mentioned. The top spelter has separated from the base and simply needs to be placed back on with a strong adhesive. It actually just sits fine and looks good with the stature just placed on the base" it fits perfectly and is quite sturdy and secure" The good news is that the clock will be easier and much safer to ship this way, so we did not attatch it back to the base. The spelter statue itself is in nice condition with no damage or repairs. I also see a chip on the porcelain dial as well as some expected hairline cracks- see picture. The last thing that I see which needs to be mnetioned is what looks like a minor repair to the back side of the onxy base where is a piece came loose and was put back, see picture# 9. Large Antique Round Copper French BULLE Electro Mechanical Gallery Wall Clock
Here is a VERY Rare Long Pendulum French BULLE Electro Mechanical Gallery Wall Clock that is COMPLETE. I have no idea if it works or not but it sure does look Great just hanging on a wall. The clock face has places where the paint is flaking as can be seen in the pictures. It is in a Beautiful Copper Case that has a Terrific Patina. The back plate appears to be cast aluminum. It is about 16& 1/8" Wide at the back of the case and is about 3& 3/4" Deep. About the only reference to this clock was found in a 1925 French catalog and I have included pictures of it for reference. Antique Friesian (French) Farmers Wall Clock. One hundred plus years
I Purcase in antique shop in the Hague. Netherlands in early 1970's. I was told, at that time, the clock was over 100 years old. Face name is shown as F.RICQUE at top of face and below middle THE WORDS- a CHATEAUBERIAN. These type of clocks were in inexpensive pine floor clock cabinet mostly puchased buy farmers. Over time the cabinet deteriorated and were discarded. Clock face appears to be Porcelian, The copper relief surronds the face of the clock and also is the material for the Pendulum and the relief of both pieces are flowers painted and showing copper relief. Weights are iron and attached by heavy cord for winding. Clock comes with KEY to wind clock. There are metal doors on each side of clock box so you have access to clock moving parts. Clock is mounted at the back on wood and is painted black.
