ANTIQUE FRENCH MARBLE MANTLE CLOCK W/MULTICOLORED MARBLE TRIM
ANTIQUE FRENCH BLACK MARBLE MANTLE CLOCK Nice. Tight case with only a few minor chips at corners as shown. The multi-colored marble trim panels are intact and show no damage. Case is etched with flowing scroll pattern on the front. Dial is perfect with the exception of a small chip over the winding arbor on the 9:00 side. Hands are original. Hands washer and pin are missing but are an easy replacement. The movement is signed A.D. Mougin. Deux Medallion with star at the center of the stamp. This was one of the premier French makers of the late 1800's to early 1900's. It is the typical French drum style movement and is intact and in good original condition with good springs but has been sitting for some years and will need cleaning before it will run. The strike side is working as it should. Striking the hour and half hour on a coiled ... moregong but is sluggish. The Gilded inner bezel shows a nice finish and the original beveled edge glass is tight with no issues. Original pendulum is included as well as a well fitting but non-original key. The baseboard and gong appear to be original to the clock as well. All this clock needs is a good cleaning. Lube and the case cleaned and waxed and you'll have a real beauty! Measures 12 X 6 X 9 14 inches with a 4 3/4 inch diameter dial and back panel. Notice the pierced back cover with the original silk fabric still inside! Antique French A H RODANET Gold Gilt Repeater Carriage Alarm Clock with Columns
This antique clock is running and keeps good time but the winding mechanism for the alarm does not work and the stem for the alarm setting just spins and does not turn the arm. It measures 3 3/8" x 3" x 5" high(not counting the handle) and the dial is approx 1 3/4" wide. The brass case is in fine shape and it's either gold gilt or it has a different polish to the surface. The bevel glass has no chips or cracks. The repeater button does not work, and it's number 6924. The bottom is marked Grande Sonnerie, Silence, Petite Sonnerie and the lever you use is missing. The case has the same matching number underneath but the door was replaced, it's missing the strap with loss of leather, the corners have some age cracking, the interior is worn, the velvet has fatigue and it leaves a fine residue on the clock. S MARTI french with gold wash spelter figurines on an alabaster base. 8 day clock with 1/2 hour and hour striking. Has Marti circular logo on movement with medaille en bronze. This dates the clock between 1860 to 1889. Roman numeral dial in nice shape. A clock restorer told me it's all original and complete except for one nut on bottom holding the girl figurine on. It's"as found" so I know it needs cleaning and set up. I don't have a key so I don't know if it runs at present. It has it's original adjustable pendant. Cosmetically it has desirable patina on the gold. No chips on the alabaster, one of the chain rosettes is missing as seen in picture and a small spire is missing from the highest point of the spelter which you wouldn't notice unless it was pointed out. French White Marble and Ormolu Wall Clock with Garland Dial
This auction is for a fabulous French wall clock. It is white marble with ormolu trim. It features a perfect garland dial and fantastic hands. There is some rust. But the balance staff is good. The movement needs cleaning. But does run freely. I am including a replacement platform that sells for $150.00. I did have the clock running for several minutes with the platform just lying on top. So. Replace the hairspring or replace the platform and you will have a fabulous clock. It is 7 5/8ths inches across the back and has a 2 3/4 inch chapter ring. It is 3 1/4 inches deep. Clock has circular red flowers glazed porcelain disc case with gilded ormolu decorations. It is mounted onto wood. The excellent quality off white enameled dial has swank black numerals and darkened hands. The brass bezel has a clean bevelled glass door. Brass 8-day Culmina movement. There are no chimes. An authentic Country French long or tall case"grandfather" clock dates from about 1860 and has a wonderful hand carved solid oak case. The"Morbier" design one week movement has been professionally cleaned and oiled. It keeps excellent time and strikes the hour. The hand painted porcelain dial has crackling or crazing at the edges for antique character. See photos. A courting couple, the gentleman playing a flute, adorn the embossed brass surround. The brass pendulum is original on this antique furniture from central France. Beautiful traditional hand carved details on the case include raised panels and carved wooden pegs at the joints. The old finish is wonderfully preserved. Waxed and buffed so only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth will maintain ... moreits warm patina. Doors have old wavy glass and brass knobs. Wonderful Country French Longcase Clock fron the French Jura THE CASE: The solid cherry Country French case uses mortise and tenon joints held with visible wooden trennels and has lovely inlays done in a rustic manner. Various designs of inlay are used including checker. Herringbone, diamond pattern, and rosettes. Below the trunk door is what appears to be the inlaid initial"B" Perhaps a hint at the identity of the original owner. There is a glass bulls-eye aperature in the trunk door allowing one to see the slow motion of the brass pendulum and to serve as a reminder to wind the clock when the weights appear there. The use of sunken panels and carved fluting are other elements of sophistication found on this delightful rural timepiece. MOVEMENT: The 8 day weight driven posted frame movement has original verge and crown wheel escapement ... morewith long fold-up pendulum and a brass capped bob. The clock strikes the hours and 2 minutes after in the manner called prayer clock striking. It also strikes once at the halves. These clocks are from the Franche-Comte and are often referred to as Comtoise. Morbier, Morez clocks or simply French prayer clocks. DIAL: The clock has a convex enamel dial which is signed below the 6 by the clockmaker Navand. The beautiful original cast brass dial surround is interesting in that the portrait of the King Louis XVI in a shield above the 12 has been removed during the French Revolution(some time around 1792) indicating the clock was made prior than that. Antique Mantel Clock This auction is for a really nice and very well made antique. 1800s shelf or mantel clock. The clock has the original porcelain dial that’s marked Raingo Frerea Aaria, which is a famous French clockmaker. The dial does have some hairline crow’s feet. The case is made of very heavy solid brass and on the front it has a neat image of a cherub in a chariot and griffons at the very bottom. All four sides have thick beveled glass panels and the front and back door open. The clock movement has been replaced by a battery movement but otherwise the clock is old and original– probably from around the 1870s. The case is in excellent condition but there is some chipping to the glass. Measures about 13¼" tall and guaranteed as described! Great piece! Vintage 1920's-30s French Alarm Clock Brevete S.G.D.G. France Marble Cathedral
1920's or 30's vintage French clock with a lion on the dial Clock runs good. Stays running when wound and keeps time most of the time, once in a while it stops and you have to give it a little shake and it goes again running. The alarm works, but rings an hour and a half earlier than alarm pointer set and I can't turn the alarm off when it goes, I don't see a lever in the slot marked"silence" it's a nice sounding ringing bell. Eventually it stops when it unwinds. The rest of the knobs and winder keys all work. This is a good clock for someone to make it work properly. The marble case looks great. Nice cranberry and pinkish veins and white. There is a small chip in the top at the center of the peak. And another small chip at the base, right lower front top corne r. The round convex dial glass looks good. Brass ... moresash could use polishing. This is a very beautiful French clock. It has 8 day movement and time and strike. The clock in working condition. The damage is on the top and it does not show when hanging on the wall. The case is inlay with mother of pearl The big chip on the bottom is a old repair. That does not show when hanging on the wall. It could have been old repaired at the shop. For auction is this beautiful Antique Japy Freres French Mantle Clock. The base is White Marble Onyx. This clock depicts a classical figure. A gentleman in period dress with a mandolin. The clock itself is set in a gilt case with a white porcelain dial. The base has lovely decorations with swag chains and patterns. It is very heavy. The movement is stamped"Japy Freres& Cie Grd Med. D'Honneur" means it(the movement) was made some time after the company(Japy Freres/Japy Brothers) won the Grand Medal of Honor(which they did at the Paris exhibition in 1855) they also won a medal in 1867. It shows they were awarded a medal at the 1855 Paris Exposition. It means that Japy Freres won an award in 1855 allowing them to display the award on their movements until the time a nother award might be won at a future exposition. Such as ... morethe 1867 Paris Exposition. I cannot see any date on the stamp. The movement also has the number 5488 stamped on it. I got this at an Estate Auction. It did not come with the key but has the bell and pendulum. I started the pendulum and the clock ran for about 30 minutes. This is a lovely early 20th century representation of the 18th and 19th century timeless cartel clocks of France. The case is decorated in traditional Rococo influence,boasting of the lush foilage,with floral accents,see pics)This is a dainty sized clock at 10 5/8" tall and just under 5" at widest points. It is solid brass and is very heavy for it's size! The brand is Bonhomme of Paris; as noted on the nicely"Roman-numeral and floral-swag" decorated porcelain face/dial. 1886 Antique French Garniture Clock Set, Moureau Sculptures,AD Mougin,Runs Well
For auction is a large sized French garniture clock set. C. 1886. The clock body is made of finely cut green onyx, and adorned with a lovely cast metal sculpture entitled"Esmerelda" par(by) H. Moreau(Hippolite Moreau) It depicts a beautiful woman in the Art Nouveau style with a goat and tambourine, and bears the French foundry mark of"Aug Moreau" on the side. The two garniture urns have matching green onyx bases and are signed"F Moreau" All the sculptures are made of spelter with hand painted accents and a patinated bronze finish. The fine French movement is by A. D. Mougin. The year of manufacture(1886) and the makers hallmark are stamped on the backplate. This movement is of high quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by a professional clockmaker. The porcelain dial is in excellent condition. There are no chips or cracks that I can detect. This dial is the most sought after cream enamel with black lettering and separate minute ring. It has blued steel hands and convex beveled glass fitted to a beaded. Hinged brass bezel. PFISTER" and"Toulouse" are printed on the dial. I believe this was the store and location in 1886 France where this clock set was originally sold. The clock stands 29-1/4" tall. 15" wide 8" deep at the base. It weighs 33 lbs. Each garniture urn weighs approx 10 lbs and stands 19-1/2" tall, 8" wide and 5-1/4" deep at the base. Please note. This is a unique. Late 19th century, French Napoleon III Portico Clock with 4 twisted columns that I inherited in Europe. The base is a ebonized black wooden case. Brass wire inlay in the wood and in the columns. White enamel dial with bronze décor around it and bronze pendulum. There is a number" 21" engraved on the back of the pendulum. Condition: This antique clock is in very good condition. Normal wear for its age and moved around the world. Small wood chip missing on the right side of the base(see side picture) and 1 small inlay on the top of the base on the left side is missing. The clock is fully functional. Antique French Silk Thread Grande Sonnerie Spring Driven Mantle Clock Movement
This is an ANTIQUE grande sonnerie clock movement. This movement is quite early as it has a silk thread suspension spring. The movement is in good condition and appears to be complete with the dial. Dial bezel, hands, and gongs. The movement is a spring driven movement for mantle clocks, which is very very rare. The movement likely dates to around the mid 1800's, but I cannot say for sure. A very hard to find part, the clock was ticking, and all mainsprings appear to be good. But as I cannot test it to be sure it is sold As-Is and will defiantly need a good cleaning. This movement was purchases among several other rare movements from a clock collectors estate, the others will be listed in my other items as well. The dial appears to have been repainted at some point.
