Offered here is a very large cast bronze sphinx head which was originally used as a table leg support. The wingspan measures 12.5" and the front measures 7.5" from the top of the sphinx head to the bottom of the piece. It weighs almost five pounds. Feel free to ask any questions. This circa 1880 possibly older Gilded Bronze FOOTED TRAY has a border in crisp relief showing an abundance of French Country folks chatting, drinking from mugs, on horseback, reaping, and loading kegs onto a wagon, all entwined with vines. There is a bit of wear due to age in the center which shows the bronze color which looks like copper but I do believe it to be bronze although it could be copper. There is also a very slight visible ring in the center probably from something that was set on it. I have not tried to polish this out. Measuring 9.25" top-to-bottom and 13.25" in length. Antique 19th c French Marble & Gilt Bronze Portico Garniture Mantle Clock Set
This is an amazing French Portico All Marble Mantle Clock Set. This clock was made in the 1860's- 1890's in France out of the highest quality marble. And bronze decorations. All the bronze pieces were hand gilded with Gold leaf, and every piece you see on this clock is 100% original to the piece, and in 100% original condition. No one has ever attempted to restore it, or re-finish it, which is a VERY rare find with these clocks. The marble is beautiful with white, pink and grays throughout. All marble pieces are also in amazing condition and 100% original to the clock. Included are the two original urns for the clock, there is some stress damage to the bottom most and top most metal pieces from 120+ years of being used, but there solid(See pictures) You usually do not see the original garnets with one of these clocks, most of the ... moretime during the years the clock becomes separated with it's urns, or the urns get destroyed. But these are the original matches to this clock, both marked underneath in the marble with the phrase"Made in France" in the same writing as the clock. One urn has a small crack in the small topmost piece of marble, it's stable, and unnoticeable. The clock itself is absolutely amazing, with 6 tall columns of marble, and the portico style free swinging pendulum in the shape of a basket of fruit, which matches perfectly with the other baskets of fruit on both the urns, and the clock itself. There are two gilded trays on each side of the dial, in beautiful condition, a unique and expensive feature for these clocks. Stings of garland string from one side to the other in the middle of the clock with beautiful gold gilding. The dial is hand painted porcelain with flowers and marked"France" there is a small knick around one of the winding arbors, as to be expected with antique clocks. The rich gold color of the finish is more than likely ORMOLU or FIRE GUILT. The clock is topped off with a pineapple with all kinds of designs and piercings down to a dog heads on each side with their claw under that foot. The clock has a total of 7 feet holding it up. It's incredibly heavy for its size. Very ornate in a Rococco style, with a cherub at the top. It's about 30 cm from the highest point to the longest parts of the bottom. It weighs about 1.2 kg. ANTIQUE FRENCH BRONZE PINK MARBLE IRIS FLOWER STAINED GLASS OIL LAMP CONVERTED
We are pleased to offer this GORGEOUS. Old, antique French converted oil lamp. The lamp is exceptional. Designed in the same manner as other French oil lamps of this period(late 1800s) this beauty is set apart by the fantastic color pattern. The lamp has a long center column of pink marble with lots of intricate and colorful veins. The marble ranges from a true pink with peach, deep plum and white veins. The glass oil reservoir is satin frost with raised, embossed leaves that rise from the bottom section of the bowl. There are three, large Iris flowers which circle the vessel. Each flower is a different color. There is a peach flower, a purple flower and a deep rose colored flower. The flower colors are not a reverse paint, but rather an opaque, stained effect color. This is a beautiful feature. The marble and glass are coupled with ornate ... morebronze hardware. The base features four, clawed, acanthus leaf feet that are formed into a fleur de lis as they move up the base. There is an intricate pattern of draped swags which join to form hearts or spades. Inside the hearts/spades are acanthus features. There are also Gothic/Celtic crosses which separate the patterns on the upper base section. Just above the base, at the lower column section, is a bronze torch"flame" The marble rests inside. A column cap finishes the marble column at the top. This is an exceptional, RARE lamp. It is in extremely nice condition for its age. There are no chips, cracks, etc. to either the glass or the marble. The gilt finish is still present and the bronze is gorgeous. This is an incredible lamp! The pictured shade is not included but the lamp does come with the harp(it is fixed) and a very nice, ornate finial. The lamp has been converted at some point to electric. The wiring is older vintage. But in good working condition. Most of the original hardware has been retained. The lamp could be converted back to oil if you so choose.
