Up for auction is a pair of Schumann Empress Dresden Flowers Candlestick Holders. These lovely pieces have a scalloped rim and base decorated with flowers. It also has gold trim at on the top and bottom. The bottom is marked Schumann Bavaria. Which dates the piece to 1945-1949 when the US occupied a portion of Germany just after World War II. These gorgeous candlesticks are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. They measure approximately 4" x 4" at the base, 3.25" in diameter at the top and 6.5" tall. Hand-painted with gold highlights; a 1" band around the edge has a raised lattice design in the porcelain. Measures 6-3/8" in diameter and stands 3/4" high. CONDITION: The gold trim on the front has been worn through due to use in 3 tiny spots(less than 3/16" Including the glaze. There is a 1/8" flake in the porcelain on the underside at the edge and a number of 1/8" nicks in the underside resting ridge. The floral pattern called"Dresden Spray" which has different types of Tulips and their leaves going in a wreath shape in the middle. The platter has minimal crazing,mostly on the back. We mention for accuracy in listing as it is due to its age& Antiquity. The surface on the front does have a couple of very light scraches in the paint(see pictures) There are not seen except on close inspection. This piece has been sitting in our home since the 1960s. My father collected everything he found interesting. Dad was the original picker 1960s thru 1980s. If the house had an attic or basement my dad was in heaven. We has been in the process of opening boxes that my Dad had stashed away. This souvenir.Made in Germany/ Dresden plate was quite a surprise. It measures 8 1/2in across in diameter. There are no chips, cracks or repairs. The plate I believe is a transfer. It is of ELGIN TEXAS PUBLIC SCHOOL. It had to be commissioned to be manufactured and this was done by ELIGINs DRUG STORE. The stamp on the back, as shown, reads FOR ELGIN DRUGGISTS FINCH& REID. I would assume this was ordered in Germany and sold in their Elgin drug store. The townspeople of Elgin Texas must have been very proud of their new public school to have had it applied ... moreon to a plate which could hang on their wall. It this was probably due to the fact that many residents could remember when there was nothing there and life was truly a time when only the strong survived. But when this was sold it is intriguing to think that men sported side arms as commonly as we carry cell phones. This is a genuine piece of the west before all the wild was gone! But nothing bad. Hardly noticeable. No other cracks, chips or repairs other than the neck. Some dust and dirt in the crevices which is what u want to see in old porcelain. Get this one while u can! This antique Dresden Plate quilt piece was pieced by machine. Trimmed with red hand embroidery and quilted by hand. It is a long piece so it could have many craft uses or would make a lovely table runner. Unbleached muslin sugar or flour sacks were used for the top and the back. It is clean, odor free and has soft lump free cotton batting. I am now listing many cutter quilt and coverlet pieces and most will have a few tiny imperfections. Antique Thirties Vintage Dresden Plate Quilt Shabby Chic
This is a beautiful old quilt that needs a gentle home in which to live out its golden years. I got it a number of years ago from a 70-year-old woman whose aunt had made it back in the thirties. While the pattern is still full of life& the colors seem to have aged gracefully(it has a lot of the bubble gum pink that was so popular back in the day) It does have 2 discolored areas-you can see 1 in the close-up- there are several places where a'petal' of a more delicate or worn fabric has completely disappeared-you can see this on the close-up of 1 arc of the plate. I suspect that the yellowed/discolored areas can be spritzed with a bleach water solution. But I am no expert& must leave that decision to the new owner. I love the feel of these old quilts; I don't think we can even get cottons today that compare to the softness& ... morecomfort of these old ones. It won't last long with hard use. So you can't take it to the football game or the campground, but if you have a quilt rack or hanger where you can fold it or hang it, or if you want to use an antique quilt at the foot of a bed or use it occasinally as a tablecloth, this one would be wonderful. Antique Dresden China Advertising Watch Clock Plate Baird Clock Co Very RARE!
This is an antique Dresden China clock advertising plate or charger by Baird Clock Co. Chicago. I believe this to be from the early 1900's. It is hallmarked on the bottom with the Dresden hallmark. The Baird Clock part is hallmarked on the front of the plate. It measures 11 3/4" in diameter. It has a wavy rim edge and is hand painted. It does have crazing and some yellowing with age, but is otherwise without chips, cracks or repair. It is listed in my store. If it sells for full price, I will ship it for free. Lots more pictures below. Pair German Dresden Porcelain Peacock Bird Figurine Hallmarked 1950-60 This perfect pair of Dresden peacocks with the closed tail are a joy to see. The taller peacock perched on a rock is 7" tall and 6" long. The shorter peacock is 6" tall and 7" long. They do not have any chips. Cracks, or repairs. The Dresden marks are a little bit of a mystery to me. Another site listed this mark as being from 1950-60. View the pictures to judge for yourself. In addition to the blue mark, notice the stamped number that reads 5186N and the hand-painted 76 that are both on the edges of the bases. One figurine has an original price sticker on the base as well. Any discoloration you see on the bases is from some felt pads that were removed and some stray paint from the hand-painting. Mulberry Transferware Flow Black E Challinor 10" Plate Dresden Pattern
Up for auction is a beautiful 10" Mulberry or Black Transferware Plate in the Dresdon pattern. By E. Challinor and CS. It is very old and the transfer does show some flow. There is crazing and staining which adds beauty to the piece. There is a hairline crack at 7 o'clock that extends thru the plate from the middle outward, which is not surprising for a plate of this age.
