Up for auction is this wonderful Dresden lace figurine depicting three little girls dancing to the nursery rhyme around a basket of flowers. This is an older piece picked up at an estate sale. In overall very good condition, there is one small spot of lace damage to the little girl in pink, which is hard to spot. The three girls are all adorned in fluffy lace dresses, one in pink, one in green and one in blue. The mark on this piece reads Irish Dresden with MV crown and“Ring a ring a rosie” not Ring around the rosie) in blue. Urban legend attributes this little song to the Black Plague. With the“rosie” in reference to the red rash that was a symptom of the plague, a pocket full of posies, were the herbs carried as protection to ward off the smell, and"ashes, ashes we all fall down" referring to the bodies being burned and the scores ... moreof people who died. Description In the late 19th and early 20th Century. There were at least forty porcelain workshops or decorators in and around Dresden, most of them creating in the Meissen style. One of the best and most prolific was the factory established by Carl Thieme at Potschappel Saxony Germany in 1872, specializing in high-quality items such as this urn. This elegant piece is typically hand painted and decorated in the popular Rococo Revival style with its strong palette of colors and intricate applied work. Each side displays a hand painted romantic courting scene framed by applied fruits. Florals, vines and insects.The finial is an array of leaves, flowers and insects as well. The underside bears the blue Saxony Porcelain Mark that was put into use beginning in 1902. All of her fingers are intact and as far as I can see all of the lace appears to be perfect as well. She is holding a mirror in her right hand and the left hand is so delicately placed upon her lace dress. They gold detail on this piece is eye catching, she measures 3 inches tall and 4 inches wide. Her base appears to be in perfect condition as well. Description On offer here is an antique Dresden porcelain chocolate set. Consisting of two jugs and a stand. The stand is ornate and sits upon four ornate inbuilt feet. It has a pink ground, painted with flowers and rural scenes with gilded highlights. It has ornate pierced handles and two areas used to house the two ornate jugs. It is a very pretty set and the stand measures 9 x 4.5 inches wide x 2.8 inches high, the jugs measure 6.2 inches high to the top of the handle. The mark is under glaze X with a T. Stands for Carl Thieme Saxonian Porcelain Factory ca 1888-1901. Carl Thieme used to work as a decorator for Dresden. But this style is also associated with Meissen and Thieme's work was so detailed he is believed to have worked for both companies. Hand appliqued, and hand quilted, with hand embroidered accents. It measures 66" X 80" and is in excellent condition. With no spots or wear. There is quilting around the applique and in fleur-de-lis and straight line designs in the background. All at an even 8-9 stitches to the inch. The back is white. The boy has a very small chip on the end of one wing and two chipped fingers. The girl angel has both of her wings broken off that were repainted gold. Since they are on the backside, she displays well from the front. Each is marked with hand painted gold numbers to the bottom interior. The mirror is perfectly clean with no wear except for a very minor shallow dent on the side of the silver on the top part. You have to look for it(please see photo 3) The brush was steam cleaned and has some surface scratches on the top center(impossible to photograph) The comb insert is the original and has been washed. BEAUTIFUL DRESDEN MEISSEN STYLE CABINET PLATE HIRSCH THIEME
Most beautiful cabinet plate in the style of Meissen but probably made in Dresden by Franceska Hirsch. Very much the look of Carl Thieme in Dresden. It measures about 9 1/4" across. The gilding is absolutely superb and the painting is so delicate. the faces are finely drawn. Extremely detailed and sweet. Lovely Dresden china pitcher is 11" high by 9 1/2" wide(from spout to handle) Opening is roughly 4" x 4" wide. No chips or cracks! The colors are wonderful featuring a wide magenta colored band at top. And pink and blue trumpet flowers on front with leaves and shadow leaves. Back design mimics front but in simpler motif. The gold banding is totally intact, as are the gold accent details on the handle. For those not familiar with T.P.C. Company here is a brief overview: T.P.C. Co. stands for The Potter's Co-operative Co. of East Liverpool, Ohio. This co-operative opened in 1882 when several local potteries purchased the Dresden Pottery Works. Antique Dresden Hand Painted Cabinet Cup, Goblet, Saucer (#3) As-Is
Here is one set of four Dresden goblet and saucer sets listing tonight. Two of the sets are in excellent condition and two are in"as-is" condition. This is set#3. The set consists of a Dresden hand painted and cabinet quality goblet and saucer. The main color of the set is a dark iridescence burgundy with hand painted pastoral scenes and substantial gilt decoration. Each piece is marked with a crown and"Dresden" along with a gilt flower. Which I understand is the decorators way of disguising the original mark of the factory that produced the porcelain. The goblet stands 4.5 inches tall and has a diameter of 3.75 inches across the bowl. The saucer measures 5.75 inches in diameter. Set#3 is being sold in strictly AS-IS condition. The saucer has a rim chip and a hairline crack that runs from the chip to the foot of the saucer. ... moreThe goblet bowl has had a 3 inch section of the bowl broken out and reattached. 1910 Dresden Advertising Calendar Plate given by Campbell & Fellman Eugene, OR.
A 1910 Calendar Plate distributed as a customer gift by Campbell and Fellman Furniture/Carpet/Housewares Store in Eugene. Oregon. The plate is 8.5" in diameter. Roses and greenery are the decaled background to the calendar on the front. The rim is trimmed in gold paint and there's a thin ring of gold paint under that. The outer rim of gold has some wear as shown in the pictures. The back is marked Dresden China. There is crazing on the front and back. The only other thing that is of note is what looks like a little discolored area that might have been caused by a bubble burst in the ceramic glaze(see picture 6) Paypal only. I have for you this evening a beautiful piece of porcelain fired at the kilns or Carl Thieme in Potschappel Dresden Germany in the first quarter of the twentieth century. This beautiful piece is made of very high quality porcelain and has been cast into a unique and delicate mold shape of a bird. I am not an expert and have no idea what type of bird this might be. This piece has been completely hand painted by a master artists hands and has been skillfully rendered to look incredibly life like. Bird figures by this maker sell quite well and I am offering this little beauty today at a low start to allow all collectors and dealers to have a chance of casting the winning bid. This will make a great addition to your collection and would will display beautfully no matter were you choose to place it in your home. Date- possibly 1900- 1940 Fruit wood Label inside states that it was either sold. Made, or repaired in a shop in Dresden, Germany. Probably before WWII. Historical significance- Before WWII, the city of Dresden was a beautiful cultural center, and since Hitler loved the arts, it was his most favorite city. For this reason, during the war, the United States decided to demoralize Adolf, by fire bombing the heck out of it-therefore, burning it to the ground.
