They came directly from a NY home that was built in 1921 and has been lived in by one. Two, three generations, and now, it’s in the hands of the fourth generation. My guess is this little gnome was an early purchase and has lived in the house for going on 100 years. He stands 11” tall and is has retained most of his original paint. Somewhere along the way. He fell face-first, and scraped his knuckles, took the paint off his nose and has a few other spots with paint loss. He was made with two pieces of a mold, and I’ve shown where the two sections come together in the pics. This is an antique cast iron doorstop that is very rare and highly collectable. It features two soldier/doormen in dress attire. It does NOT have the original paint. It is. However; nicely painted and is quite decorative. I am not an expert but know it is signed by the artist, Fish and is number marked 248. It is very heavy and well made. It has a lot of charm.
