When one melts silver one can lose as much as 5% of the weight in the smelting process and I can not be held responsible for weight lost after melting. I do not generally melt anything that is well made as it makes little sense to me. So any potential loss should be considered before purchasing my items. All my items are measured with a standard tape measure and are rounded off to the quarter inch. I attempt to be as accurate as possible. This auction is for an antique solid cast iron Sealyham terrier? dog bookend or doorstop. I am sure this is a repaint. But an older repaint with wear from use over time. There is lettering casted on the front of the base portion but I can't make it out. I have tried to photograph hoping someone else can make it out. I keep seeing Dorothy-B but that makes no sense. The doorstop measures approximately 4-3/4" high, 5-1/2" wide, 2" deep and weighs about 3 lbs 12 oz. Good used condition- some paint wear. I am not an expert so please ask questions. It is a wedge type antique German Shepard door stop circa around the early 1900's. I believe this was made by the Davidson Co. maker of door stops and other iron items. Vintage Cast Iron Doorstop Beautiful Colorful Flowers French Basket By Hubley For Your Antique Cast Iron Doorstop Collection Details Description: An antique cast iron doorstop cast in the form of a tall wicker basket having a braided handle with a bow on top. The basket is full of colorful flowers. The flowers are colored in red. Pink, gray, and blue. The entire piece still retains most of its original paint with minimum losses on the high points of the flowers. The gold colored basket has a black semispherical shaped base. It has a looped handle showing a braided branch design on top with a bow above it all. The back is colored in a gold color. Just a beautiful piece. See page 62 in John and Nancy Smith's book"The Doorstop Book: An Encyclopedia of Doorstop Collecting Published by Schiffer Books of Atglen, PA in 2006 for a similar ... moreexample. Both references call the door stop French basket and give it dimensions of 11" and 6 3/4" and indicate the doorstop was made by Hubley. This particular doorstop is a bit smaller in dimensions measuring only 10 3/4" and 6 3/8" which could be an indication that this piece is a vintage reproduction. This lot is for a lovely cast iron door stop of a BOSTON TERRIER DOG. The piece is not an original Hubley. It is most likely a reproduction. There are Phillip head screws on the back of the dog that keep the two sections together. The dog does weigh 8 1/2 pounds and measures 10" L x 10" H x 4" D. The paint appears to be original. Antique Cast Iron Hubley Pointer Irish English Setter Retriever Dog Doorstop
This is a nice antique cast iron doorstop(probably Hubley) The paint looks original and is in good condition. There are some chipped spots. All shown in the photos. It is comprised of two halves that are screwed together, so there is a very slight gap where the two sides meet in the middle. It is solid and sturdy and nothing is broken or missing. It measures 15" L x 8 1/2" H and weighs about 9 pounds.

Antique Hubley? Cast Iron Airedale Fox Terrier Dog Doorstop Fantastic Patina
This is a charming antique cast iron(probably Hubley) fox terrier doorstop in good vintage condition. It is solid and sturdy and nothing is missing or broken. I don't believe the paint is original but it is VERY old and has a beautiful crackled look and darkened. Aged patina. There are some chipped spots with surface rust, shown in the photos. The dog measures 8" L x 4" W x 8 1/2" H and weighs 6 pounds.
