A great example of this is the snout of the dog which appears to have a dark nose and leads down to a dark area underneath where you would expect the dark colored lips common with the best examples of the breed. There is some green patina(further increasing my belief that it may have been a true copper finish) appearing in the recesses of the dog. Especially around his feet and tail. There is only one doorstop for sale here. I added in a second view of the front because looking at the two photos you can get a sense of how ... morethe beautiful details of the casting come and go as the light moves around it. I have noted that other versions of this or a similar casting have been sold or offered for sale and auction on this site. I have not seen another in this condition. But beyond this piece's beautiful color and amazing condition. Which in and of itself sets it apart from the others, this piece is different in another way. I noted that the majority of the other offerings have two metal ribs running vertically along the top of the base increasing in height til they join the back of the dog. This piece doesn't have those ribs, indicating they are not from the same maker, or at least not from the same mold. The casting is unmarked so the maker is unknown. This doorstop has a wedge shape that fits under the door to stop and block it. The wedge is approximately 1/4 inch at the narrow end. Increasing to approximately 1/2 inch at the back of dog. A new felt bottom has been added to protect wood floors. The felt bottom adds another 1/16" or so to the thickness of the base. It is believed to be USA made. 1920s to 1930s. A very heavy solid iron figure or small statue with its original worn. Painted finish. Its height is approximately 5 inches tall. It is a baby boy with blue eyes and blond hair. He is reminiscent of Rose O'Neill's Kewpie dolls and is painted in a primitive or naive style. He may be a one-of-a-kind object made for a child by a creative foundry worker. It probably dates to the early twentieth century. He is cast in a two-piece mold with seams at the sides.I have done a great deal of online and offline research on cast iron pieces and have found only two items that resemble this one, but neither is a match. One is a larger but very similar Kewpie-style doorstop, c. 1900, valued at over $1500. The other is an item associated with Wagga Iron Foundry(which began in 1913) in Wagga Wagga, NSW, Australia, but the Wagga Bush Baby, as that item ... moreis called, has a heart-shaped base, outstretched arms, and variations in the hair and neck. There was some old tape on the bottom I removed that was used to prevent scratching the floor. This piece has extreme quality. There are hundreds of lines in the deer to simulate its natural skin. The shrubs have great detail. Layers and depth. This piece is solid and heavy. It is approximately 4 1/4' wide at its base and 2 1/8' deep at its base. This auction is for a HUBLEY antique cast iron Frog doorstop. this is very old and original. is is not signed. But from my research the shape and quality of the casting leaves it to be a very early HUBLEY,i Am guessing tape was put on bottom of the frog to keep frog from scuffing furniture( new owner should not have a problem cleaning off in desired) it has not been repainted or repaired and has great patina. no chips or cracks and the casting finish is as smooth as butter.very Heavy at 5 pounds and measures 3" tall x 5 1/2" long x 4 1/2" wide. Nice original piece.i have not cleaned or polished. This charming vintage Hubley cast iron doorstop is the classic model#120"Petunias and Daisies in Flower Basket" from the 1920's. All original paint. Heavy cast iron with no breaks or repairs; weighs about 6 lbs. Would keep the heavy wooden Victorian doors open when a breeze flowed through the open window. Rare Antique Highland Light Lighthouse Cape Cod Cast Iron Doorstop Orig Paint
Beautiful rare Highland Light Cape Cod antique cast iron doorstop. Highland Light was the first lighthouse in the nation to have flashing lights. A rotating eclipser, which was installed in 1797 to help mariners distinguish from Boston Light, which was a fixed light. Very interesting history to research. In rare untouched condition with original paint- shows rust and wear but beautiful piece- measures about 9 1/2" x 4" wide and about 8" to top of lighthouse. This is a rare doorstop- others have sold at auction upwards of $1000. I have only been able to find two other examples researching. Was an inherited piece, which had been previously inherited also- family loved Cape Cod- quite old and I believe early 1900's. Please ask if any questions or if you would like more photos. Antique/Primitive 10" Heavy Cast Iron Horse Collectible--Toy? Doorstop?
This Antique Cast Iron Horse was retrieved out of my Grandmother-in-laws Estate about 22 years ago and my Husband says she had used it for a doorstop ever since he could remember and he's 67. There are no markings on it anywhere that we can find so origin and age is unknown. Perhaps someone out there has seen one like it and knows age and who made it. it is approx 10" long, 7 1/2" tall and approx 3 1/2"4" wide across the widest part. Weight is about 6 pounds according to my scale. We are not sure if this was made to be a toy, doorstop or what but it is definitely a unique looking one.

The bottom of the from is covered in glued-down felt, so I could not tell if there was a maker's mark or country on the bottom. Iron piggy bank or doorstop. I bought this through a country decor catalog 25 or 30 years ago. Definitely repro. But not sure where it was made. I don't see a marking, not even on the inside. I've had some trouble aligning the two halves over the years. The screw is tight but the parts don't fit perfectly. I believe I changed the screw and added a nut at some point. Other listings of similar mention teets- so I guess she's a sow! Makes a better doorstop than bank. Added felt pads to protect my wood floors. Quite heavy! She weighs just under 3 pounds 13 ounces.

It is 8 ½ inches tall to the top of the head. It is painted black and white with the white having a creamy color now due to the age. It is in very good antique condition with some paint loss.
