Their baby and their cat from Punch and Judy. The heavy door stop is in very good condition with only minor surface patina. It measures 13” high by 9.5“ wide. This is an authentic. Antique Victorian item that has not been cleaned or polished. There are no makers marks or numbers observed on the front or rear. The Punch and Judy show has roots in the 16th-century Italian commedia dell'arte. The figure of Punch derives from the Neapolitan stock character of Pulcinella. Which was anglicized to Punchinello. He is a manifestation of the Lord of Misrule and Trickster figures of deep-rooted mythologies. Punch's wife was originally called"Joan. The figure who later became Mr. Punch made his first recorded appearance in England on 9 May 1662. Which is traditionally reckoned as Punch's UK birthday. The diarist Samuel Pepys observed a marionette show featuring an early version of the Punch character in Covent Garden in London. It was performed by an Italian puppet showman, Pietro Gimonde, a.k.a. These were made until WWII and shortly afterwards till 1948. Hubley is known as one of the most outstanding and important producers of Banks, paperweights& doorstops. The doorstop has 99% of its chippy original paint, has a nice patina, its in incredible shape! NEAR MINT FROM MY PERSONAL COLLECTION. There are no cracks. Chips, breaks or damage of any kind other than any stated. It has a black and a white Scottie dog on top and the base reads- Scotch"Black& White" Whiskey. It looks to have the original paint which is in very nice condition other that a few scuff marks on the top of the white dogs ears. The whole piece is cast iron and very heavy. It's very sturdy and sits nice and flat. Would look great sitting behind a bar or being used for it's purpose.

Over the next two weeks I am listing a HUGE selection of BEAUTIFUL RARE Antiques& Collectibles which all came from a Southeastern New Jersey Estate. This is a for a fantastic all original authentic Hubley cast iron doorstop. Model#331 which is a form of a Boston Bull Pup Terrier. A heavy two piece body with the original two bolts holding it together. As well as the original inserts that cover the bolts. A tight solid seam and body. Not loose at all. This Incredible piece measures 7 inches wide by 2 1/8 inches deep. The overall height to the top of the star is 8 1/2 inches. If you look closely in the branches of the evergreen, you will see Christmas ornaments and the words“Merry Christmas” At the bottom are wrapped gifts, as well as a teddy bear and a small rocking horse. You can see old dark paint chips to the high points, but overall, this rare doorstop is in Amazing original condition with no restorations. The nicest Antique example on Ebay. Shown is an ANTIQUE CAST IRON DOORSTOP from the FREIDAG MFG. CO. of Freeport. Illinois. This company was the forerunner of Arcade Mfg. at the same city. My understanding is that Mr. Freidag took over the Arcade Mfg. Co. after his company dissolved. This doorstop is of a sailing ship. Measures 8" high and 8" long and 2" at it's thickest(base) It has been repainted, but, not to worry. Manufacturer shows clearly(Freidag& Co.Freeport, ILL. on reverse(see last 3 pictures) Condition is no breakages whatsoever! A real treasure! John Wright cast iron flower basket doorstop. I'm honestly not sure because of the metal loop attached to the back. It looks as if it might hold a flower container. The colors are muted and very pretty. Nice patina. A little rust. About 10 inches tall and about 8 inches wide. The metal loop in the back is 5-1/8 inches across. Marked on the back.
