Rare Black Forest Bellringer/ Monk Shlef Clock C. 1880 Automata not a cuckoo
This is a really nice Black Forest shelf automata. It is called monk clocks or bell ringers. On the full and half hours the large lower door in the church opens showing the large monk. He has automata in his arms as he pulls the rope in sequence to the strike to the bells. As the bells chime and his arms move the small bell in the upper tower also swings. A fun Black Forest folk art automata clock. The case is made from linden wood as a traditional cuckoo. However this example is further decorated in roots and other organic material. It really gives it a rustic look to the church. These examples are very collectible, are frequently really damaged(they are fragile) This one is very clean with only a few faults. The movement is a large brass plate movement. There are two hammers that strike the two bells and two additional arms for the automata. ... moreOne for the monk and one fro the upper bell. Excellent handpainted animated German Black Forest Cuckoo Clock
Wonderful animated German Cuckoo Clock in working condition. Just took it out of storage after moving 5 years ago. And it does work. The only thing which does not start is the Swiss music box which allows the dancers to dance. It worked fine before putting it in storage so I think it is probably just a small adjustment. I do not know anything about Cuckoo clocks so I do not want to fool with it. it keeps perfect time and cuckoo comes out. Clock is 10 1/2" high and 10" across. Bellows are in great condition, all brass works incised"made in Germany"

Very nice, old, working, wood wall clock that was produced in the Black Forest of Germany about 70 years ago and signed on the movement by"Helmut Kammerer. The clock is made from cured and aged Linden wood and is designed to look very much like Little Red Riding Hood complete with a picnic basket.and the Wolf, of course; just charming! The front of the case is lavished with colorful flowers and green forest accents. The dial has a brown and black backdrop and features white Roman numerals to mark the hours and fancy white hands to point out the time. The ... moreback has a wooden cover over the movement and a wooden door that slides open to allow access to the weight driven mechanical movement. A weight driven movement simply means the clock chain needs to be pulled occasionally to wind the clock. The clock works just fine and keeps good time too though being an old clock and we don't know the service history, some adjustments or service may be necessary once the clock arrives at its new home. It's been working fine in my office all week and I'm sure it will do the same for you. Nonetheless, we always advise our clock customers to service their antique or vintage clocks at least once every three years. Doing so will preserve a classic clock like this one and keep it running strong. The clock comes complete as shown with one set of attached metal chains, a wire pendulum and bob, and one rather heavy pinecone shaped metal weight. I've looked the clock over fairly well and can't find any damage or repairs though it does show minor wear. It is an impressive old clock that is gorgeous on the wall. It's the ideal size too measuring about 10" high(not counting the weight or pendulum) about 2 1/2" at its deep

1960's Albert Schwab Karlsruhe CUCKOO CLOCK Black Forest Hunters, 8 Day
Up for auction is a nice Vintage(1960's) Black Forest Albert Schwab Karlsruhe 8 day Cuckoo Clock. Looks and seems to run great. Don't know how to fully test it but when assembled the weights drive the mechanism and the cuckoo pops out on the hour and makes the cuckoo noise. It has a Regula movement, both weights and the piece that moves back and forth. Not sure if there is a piece missing that would go on the top front for decoration. There is a small chip just below where the small horn sticks into the clock above the 11 hour mark, see last picture. Selling in as is condition since I don't know enough about it to fully test.

Large Vintage Black Forest Cuckoo Clock- Hunting w/ Deer Head, Dancers, Tune
Offered here is a vintage German Black Forest deer head hunting cuckoo clock in Good condition. It features carved all wood construction with a nice buck head at the top above two crossed shotguns, a pheasant and a rabbit on the sides. A hunter's pouch on the bottom, a horn surrounding the dial and of course many oak leaves. There are 4 pairs of twirling dancers on a balcony just below the cuckoo bird. It measures 18" high from the pouch to the antler tops x 11" wide x 10" deep from the back to the buck's nose. The all brass movement is marked"Made in Western Germany" and runs for 1 day with 3 weights 375 grams each. one will need to replaced as it's not original to the clock) It chimes on a coiled gong and cuckoo Bird comes out( But does not. RARE ANTIQUE MINIATURE STRIKING AND ALARM BLACK FOREST WALL CLOCK Description: This miniature Black Forest wall clock has a wooden dial that measures just about 5-1/4" in diameter. The tiny wooden plated movement measures 4-1/4" 108 mm. by 4-1/4" 108 mm. by 2-1/4" 57mm. has both full striking and an alarm on a small bell. The collets of the wheelwork are wooden which is a sign of an early clock. There are missing parts. Namely the minute wheel and some parts of the alarm mechanism, and there is old woodworm damage to the frame. The alarm setting disc is clearly not original and it looks as though a previous restorer has started to make a correct design brass disk(see image of weights) The three weights that you can see came in the box that the clock was in. There is a key operated bezel lock let into the surround in the style of a mid 1800,s English dial clock The bezel is cast brass and the convex glass needs to be plastered in. Again an unusual feature that again suggests an early date of manufacture. This clock will make a very rewarding restoration project and the finished result should be a very fine. German Carved Man's Chair Black Forest? 100 yrs +
This auction is for an antique wooden chair from Germany. Supposedly the Black Forest. Two German women gave it and the matching ladies chair to my mom when I was a child in the 50's. They told my mom it was over a hundred years old then and that it was made in the Black Forest. The ladies chair was given away later when we moved. There is one slat missing from the back and a piece of wood missing from a back chair leg. The feet are a little rough, but not broken. The finish is worn throughout the chair. The carving of the face is intact and in very good condition. I recently replaced the seat cushion and covered it in velvet upholstery material. The original seat, which was cane, was in poor condition when it was given to us and my Dad replaced it. The chair is 50" high and 27" wide at the widest point of the arms. Here is a very wonderful hand carved and painted wooden diorama on some men playing cards. It is stamped Made in Italy on the back. But the stamp is too faint to photograph. It measures 9" by 13" across the front and the back is 6.25" by 10" It is very well done and the colors are brighter than the photos suggest. I have not tried to clean it up at all, so it could use a bit of dusting as it came straight from an estate where it has been hanging for who knows how long. This is a great cuckoo clock. It has the traditional black forest style and comes from Germany. It features tiny"dancing" Hummel figurines as well as a bird who cuckoos. It plays music on the half hour as well as the hour. Runs perfectly well. I have never had a cuckoo clock before but the only possible flaw I can see is that the bird's door doesn't seem to close all the way between uses. But it may be that way normally I don't know for sure. It certainly hasn't bothered me! It is a lovely addition to any collection of black forest clocks or Hummels. RARE 1930's BLACK BAUHAUS ART DECO DESK CLOCK FROM KÖHLER BLACK FOREST GERMANY Description: You are bidding on a very attractive& useful item. It is a n OLD C1930's(I think it is Pre-War as it is just Germany)ART DECO DESK or MANTEL CLOCK with a BAUHAUS influence. During my research I found 3 different coloured finishes. This one(BLACK) in my opinion look the best. The condition of the examples I saw was very mixed but none were in as good condition visually as this one. The paint or lacquer is very fragile& prone to chipping etc. I would describe this one as being in GOOD condition. The photos are greatly enlarged& best viewed without enlarging. The paint is in very good condition& was difficult to photograph as it is so shiney. I would give it at least 7.5/10. I have had it running for 4 days but it stopped ... moreover the weekend when I was away. The plastic glass is clear& scratch free& the numbers are all quite clean. For some reason it does not change the hour immediately but takes a few minutes to do so(if you tap it the number does fall) I am not sure if this is normal but it has been very hot here in my study. The movement is marked Kohler as per the photos& it has a very pleasing tick& click when the numbers change. It is in better condition than appears in the photos. I am not an expert on this type of thing so your comments would be welcomed& added to the listing. It weighs approx 601g unpacked. Approx 7 7/8ths" wide. It would make a great gift or addition to your collection. When I put the weights on music began to play from the music box& the figures on top began to revolve and spin around. The wood case has some cracks and some dents& dings and has been knocked around a bit- please see pictures.The antlers and one ear are missing from the Deer or animal carved into the wood on the top of the rifles.
