The material is steel and the surface is carved out, meaning intaglio, with very nice detail of line. Felt was applied to back of plate. Style of the drawings are 1920s to 1930s. The door knobs measure approx. 2 1/4" in diameter. The back plates measure 1 1/2" x 5 1/2" and does have the keyhole. Someone painted over the one ornate back plate and the paint will need removed to show off the ornate design. I am leaving that to you. The buyer as I am no expert in restoring antique hardware. Here are 7 vintage antique brass switch plates. They came from A very old country store building 100 yrs+ that my family has been storing things in for at least 60 yrs. They were probably saved by my grandfather who was a Real Estate Broker back in the 50's. Lots of old houses in the area that he probably got these from. the singles measure 2 3/4" X 4 1/2" The doubles measure 4 1/2" X 4 1/2" Two of the plates are marked"C.E.M. CO. Bridgeport Conn. Made in USA. a few are marked 040 which I assume is the thickness. One single has a slight bend and one double has a small dent and slight scratch. Antique German Black Forest Clock w/wooden plates ca.1890 - ESTATE
I have tried to do research on this unusual clock and not finding much. I'll tell you what I do know so far. It was hanging above my late husband's workbench& as you can see in the pictures the movement is very dirty. It is German-Black Forest and mfg. around 1890 to 1900. I am clearing my husband's shop and discovering much that I do not know about. The clock has a brightly painted tin face with an absolutely perfect porcelain dial. The colors are very vivid for it's age. The pendulum is very ornate& painted in corresponding colors. The clock door measures 9-1/2"H x 8"W and the hinges are secure. The porcelain dial measures 3-3/4" across& has Roman numerals. The hands also look original to the age of the clock. The movement is mounted on wooden plates and will only run for 10 minutes. Penn Antique Restoration. Antique"Roanoke" Bronze Entry Door Set w/Knobs Plate Lock Keys. Exquisite. Original, antique entry door set made by“P.F. Corbin Mfg. Co. of New Britain, CT circa 1895. The set consists of 2 bronze knobs, 1 bronze escutcheon, 1 bronze rosette, 1 bronze keyhole cover, 1 iron lock with bronze faceplate and 2 working keys, 1 brass strikeplate for the door jamb, and a spindle with 2 set screws to connect the knobs. All are bronze/brass parts solid bronze/brass, not plated iron, and are fairly heavy—good quality pieces. They were originally copper plated, however much of the copper has worn off over the years. The knobs and escutcheon feature the Art Nouveau style“Roanoke” pattern which includes flowers. Scrolled foliage, and beads. Notice the swinging keyhole cover on the escutcheon-what a great accent! The ... moreset was salvaged from Southern MN. At the point of salvage. The set was dirty and unevenly tarnished. Since then we've cleaned and polished the bronze parts to the a uniform finish. All parts are in great condition with only the nicks and scratches that you would expect to find on 100+ year-old hardware(please see photos to judge for yourself) However. There are no breaks, cracks, chips, dents, or gouges. We opened and inspected the lock, and sprayed machine oil on and around all internal parts to facilitate their movement. Faithfully abridged from the quarto editions Containing a particular relation of all the interesting transactions during the federal voyages. To which is prefixed, the life of Captain Cook Printed at Boston by Manning and Loring for Thomas& Andrews and D. West Jan 1797 Books measure 4" X 6 3/4" Volume one is leather bound with scuffs and cosmetic wear to covers consistent with the age of the book. Spine has rubbing and most of the gilt has worn off. Binding is surprisingly ... moretight. Front endboards have writing and the book is missing the blank endpaper and the copperplate of Captain Cook. Hinges show string binding. Light soiling and darkening to pages. Interior Plates are complete. With one of them a bit shorter than the other. This appears to be a printing error(maybe the end of the roll? and not damage to the book. The rear endpaper has writing in pencil on both front and back. The second volume is leather bound with both front and rear boards slightly warped. Interior pages have light soiling and darkening of pages consistent with age. Binding is tight. However both top and bottom of spine are chipped. Corners lightly bumped. All copperplates(4) are present. Rear endpapers have some writing and a torn page. Includes segment on the death of Captain Cook. Any book printed in 18th century America regarding Captain Cook are extremely scarce. To find a complete set, in the original state is rarer still. Antique silver plate Pair of plates Wm Rogers 10.25" engraved slotted Relish
Here is a great silver plate/plated pair of plates from the Wm Rogers company. One is a relish plate and comes with a glass dish that sits inside it. Has the mark on bottom of"Wm Rogers 811" on one plate but the other plates has no markings. It has a small sticker that can't be read. The plates are same. With the engraving, size and holes punched around the edges. They are 10.25" wide and 0.75" tall. One weighs 10.95ozs and the other weight 10.65ozs. They are old but I have no idea how old. The glass dish weighs 24 ozs. They are in great shape, no dings, some minor scratches on the surface. Both have 484 188 666 OK engraved on the bottom. Both are slotted around the edges. this is a stunning antique lot of 5 handmade Chinese bronze ashtrays. they are from the arts and crafts era and have a stunning ornate design with a textured hand hammered finish. they are a stylized oval-like shape with sides that taper up and are nicely ribbed. they are signed on the bottom with nice patina from age. very sturdy pieces and each measures 5 3/4 by 4 inches. some still have ashes on the inside of them but can be scraped and buffed if desired. i just rinsed them and still look a bit damp in the pictures. very rare handmade lot. 3 Antique Kangxi Chinese porcelain blue& off white plates with a dragon. Plates are not bright white they have an off white tint. They also have a phoenix and 4 men. Not exactly sure when they where made but from my experience seem to have lots of age to them. Each plate is painted similar but not exact as you can see in the pictures. They measure 8 5/8" but each one is slightly off by about a 16th of an inch, plates are in excellent kept condition, no chips or cracks. Please contact me if you have any questions. For your consideration is this incredible find. An extremely rare large format Atlas Of the Borough of the Bronx City of New York Vol. I, by Mack and Cameron, lithographed by Robert A Welcke. It is huge measuring 28" x 20" when closed and each map is close to double that. The maps are extremely durable, being backed by linen, canvas or something similar. There are 47 double page plates. It does have some water spots but it is only really prevalent on the blank cloth pages. Maps colors are still vivid. Some wear to the covers. Pair Antique Kutani Vases Signed Handpainted Possibly 19th Century + 2 Plates
Available is a pair of Kutani vases. I don't know how old these are. But was told they are probably 19th to very early 20th century. I bought them years ago at an estate sale because I liked them. They are hand-painted. I find no wear to the designs anywhere. The patterned gold design is all there. Notice how when placed side by side the design of each vase complements one another. I believe they were meant to be displayed as a pair. There are no chips. One of the vases seems to have developed about 3 or 4 small cracks to the glaze. I held the vase to a light and no crack showed. I don't remember that being there before. It can't be seen unless the vase is brought directly to the face and it can't be photographed with my camera. It is very, very minor, but I feel it must be mentioned for accuracy. I can't tell if these ... morewere hand-thrown or not. I find no seams, and there are what look like ripple marks typical of hand-thrown pottery, but they seem to be cast. The two ARE NOT exactly the same height. Which also leads me to believe they might be hand-thrown. One vase is about 8 3/4 inches tall and the other is about 9 inches tall. They measure 3 inches across the top. They measure about 2 3/4 across the bottom. I am including 2 Kutani plates with the auction. The plates are unmarked. I don't know the age of the plates. But they are hand-painted. I displayed the plates together with the vases, and they go together so well. Both plates have some wear to the design, but still display nice. Check photos. One plate has a tiny speck of glaze missing on a flower. Again, check photos. Minor, but I mention for accuracy. There is a thin, 3 1/2 inch crack across the front of one. I didn't know it was there until I held the plate up to a lamp. It is very difficult to see. I never knew it was there. Will leave any cleaning and polishing to the new owner if they should so choose. These are old and this is the original condition, they show the appropriate wear from use and age. They are a little bent along the edges, they could probably be straightened out. There are 3 plates that match and the 4th one is close, with the only difference being the ribbed design on the top and bottom edge are rounded rather than straight across. All have a deep ridged pattern and a hole in each corner for mounting. Two- a matching set measure 8 inches by 3 inches. And of the other two, the one with the rounded design measures 8 inches by 3 inches, the last one is a little shorter measuring 7 3/4 inches by 3 inches. The brass door plates are both the same. They measure approx 6½" tall and 2¼" across at the widest point. The mounting screw holes are 5-5/8" apart. The bottom of each skeleton keyhole on each plate is 2¼" above the bottom screw hole. The center of the hole for a doorknob on each plate is 1½" below the top screw hole. Both door plates are in used condition. And one is bent near the keyhole. I believe it could be molded back into shape, but I will leave this up to the buyer. They need to be cleaned and polished; there are darkened areas and patina. The backs of the plates really show their age.with darkening, patina and paint. The ... moreBrass Doorknobs are not a matched set. One is very ornate with a knobby patchwork& daisy pattern surrounded by a pie-crust edging. This looks to be in good condition for its old age. The antique brass on this one has areas that are lighter in color-the polish may have worn off with use. Each knob measures about 2½" in diameter. Antique Chinese Canton Famille Rose Celadon Porcelain 7 Plates Mid 19th century
These beautiful plates from the mid 1800's are hand made and painted roses. Birds& butterflies most likely from the Daoguang Period. One plate does have a hairline crack, otherwise they are in very good condition with normal ware.
