This beautiful crystal lamp was most likely made by the Duncan Miller company. I have seen reproductions of this pattern in green but this is an original not a reproduction. The font has 6 panels and measures 6" across x 4" deep, Lamp is 10 1/2" from collar to base, it has a standard 10" chimney and a#2 white flame working burner. Tank-Crown-Font Cap: The Tank Crown or Font Cap is also made of Brass and looks to be original as it is tarned like the base connector. The Burner The burner is also made of brass. Has an old wick in it, the handle on the burner says"Eldorado WBG Corp" a company in the 1800's that manufactured burners like this. The burner unscrews from the tank crown with ease, in order to fill the font with oil. The Lamp Chimney The Lamp Chimney appears to be newer. May not be the original, it is frosted glass but appears to be in very good shape for it's age. The thickly cast container has an elegant design. Described by Oppi Untracht Page 186- One has a dramatic. Rippled surface, like tightly twisted rope. Diagonal ridging is profoundly Indian kind of surface articulation for metal objects. The swirled ridging for its surface attains an elegance on the globular belly. The diagonal ridging is of a deep and vigorous kind which harmoniously unites the belly and neck. The container has the style of a typical 17th century foot and the handles have open lotus flower finals. The container is heavy in the hand and weighs 1 Kilos(2lbs 4oz) Typical pitting in the casting in small areas and ozidization spots in some areas. Antique Coal Mining, Oil Lamp, Dunlap??, Pittsburgh, Pa. Embossed
This old oil lamp is in good shape. And the name Dunlap, Pittsburgh are embossed near the top. It has the original wick inside. This one was used some because there is wear to it from use. It stands app. 3 1/4" tall to the top of the spout, and 1 1/2" in diameter. I'm not positive about the word Dunlap on top, it's hard to make out, but the word Pittsburgh is clear. Good Luck Bidding.

Antique Coal Mining, Miners Oil Lamp, Johnstown, Pa.
This lamp is in good condition. And still has the old wick inside. This lamp was found around Johnstown, Pa. where there was many coal mines. All the parts are original to the piece, and the lid is still attached. It stands 2 1/2" to the top of the spout. Again in clear glass on page 47 of Ann McDonald's book"Evolution of the Night Lamp" and in cobalt in a 1906 Fostoria Glass Company ... morecatalog(pages from that catalog, including the one showing this lamp, are reproduced in"Lamps& Other Lighting Devices, 1850-1906" published in 1972 by The American Historical Catalog Collection. While collector's today generally refer to this lamp as the"Bead& Panel" Fostoria called it simply the"No. 19 Night Lamp" We know that the lamp was made in clear glass. Cobalt blue glass and amber glass and that it originally came with a panelled chimney in the same color as the font. Over the past 11 1/2 years or so we've only seen on eBay 13 clear glass examples of this lamp with the panelled chimney and only 1 example in cobalt with a cobalt panelled chimney. The clear glass bases, however, are found rather commonly(we've seen some 79 examples on eBay since June of 2002) not so, however the colored glass bases. During that same time period we've seen just five other examples of this Bead& Panel font in cobalt and just one in amber glass. Ohio Glass II" Melvin Murray shows the base for a blue ... moresatin drape(like the the base on this lamp) in a photo of a group of lamps made by the Consolidated Lamp& Glass Company, thus attributing the lamp to Consolidated. However, in her book"Evolution of the Night Lamp" Ann McDonald attributes this lamp to the Pittsburgh Lamp& Brass Company and cites a company advertisement for it in the December 12, 1901 issue of the"Crockery& Glass Journal" It is possible that both authors are correct. The lamp appears to be the product of Nicholas Kopp, Jr. a renowned glass maker who worked for several prominent lamp companies. In 1890, at age 25, he joined the Fostoria Shade and Lamp Company. In late 1893/early 1894, he joined Consolidated when it acquired Fostoria. In 1901, he formed his own company which in 1902 merged with several other companies to become the Pittsburgh Lamp, Brass& Glass Company. McDonald notes that it was not unusual for more than one company to manufacture and offer what was fundamentally the same lamp; she attributes this to the fact that the highly skilled glass workers moved easily from company to company, all of which were located near the area where Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Vir

Beyond the basic descriptive information provided in the book, we know very little ... moreabout its background or history. Based on the style of the brass collar and the shade ring and the most likely German made burner(marked"SPAR BRENNER" which is German for savings burner-meaning a burner which is economical with respect to fuel usage) we'd guess that the lamp was made in Europe. Based on the style of the lamp itself. We suspect it might have been made in Scandinavia(either Denmark or Sweden) but that's just a guess. In addition to the Tulip decor which appears to be hand-painted. Both the base and shade of this lamp are faintly panelled(smooth on the outside, but the panelling can be felt on the inside) This faint paneling is achieved. According to Catherine Thuro(Oil Lamps II" by a technique known as"optic molding" In order to produce a lamp with a" soft undulating pattern seen through a smooth exterior. two molds were used; a patterned one and a larger plain one. A gather of glass was first blown into the smaller patterned mold to produce a[piece] with relatively large and distinct protrusions. It apparently came in both satin and glossy cased glass in blue. Pink and green. Smith says that it was offered with differently decorated milk glass shades or with"ornate ruffled silk shades" Melvin Murray, in his book"Fostoria, Ohio Glass II" shows two examples of this lamp without any burner or shade and calls it"Princess, Florette Pattern" He does show(on page 171) a drawing of this lamp(apparently from old Consolidated Glass ads or catalogs) with one of those ornate silk shades. It appears that the company, at least in this drawing referred to the lamp as"No. 011" It seems that Consolidated referred to many of its lamps simply by number rather than by name. In the caption to that drawing(which may have also come from Consolidated Company material) he notes that the lamp was"made in four colors" We believe that the fourth color was Canary, or yellow. We found this lamp with its burner and Kosmos(or student lamp) style chimney but without any shade at all. Since it was unclear exactly what kind of shade may have come with this shade originally. The exact lamp pictured in her book Background& History: While this lamp is considered by collectors to be a"miniature oil lamp" Unlike ... moremost other miniature oil lamps it was most likely not intended to be used solely as a night lamp; the German made Kosmos Round Burner on this lamp would have emitted somewhat more light and used somewhat more fuel than the typical lamp designed to be used solely as a night light. It is likely that a lamp like this one was used in a lady's boudoir, or dressing room, where with the wick turned up it might provide enough light for the lady to use while dressing and with the wick turned down it could serve as a night light. Acquired recently from the personal collection of Marjorie Hulsebus. This is the very lamp pictured in Figure 578 of her second book of miniature oil lamp photos"Miniature Lamps of the Victorian Era" The lamp's font and shade are made of yellow diamond quilted mother-of-pearl satin glass. The Corning Museum of Glass dictionary calls the kind of glass"diamond air trap glass" and describes it as being made" by blowing a gather of glass into a mold with projections of the desired design. Withdrawing it, and covering it with a second gather, which traps pockets of air in the indentations" They go on to note that"this tech

This lamp is the exact lamp pictured in the Hulsebus book but with a different globe Background& History: When we acquired this lamp from the Marjorie Hulsebus collection we wondered if it was silver. Silver plated ... moreor nickel plated. Shown in Figure 286 of her book"Miniature Victorian Lamps" Hulsebus describes the lamp as being"sterling silver. In her 2006"Price Guide for Miniature Lamps" she refers to it as a"silver base lamp" However, the lamp has no markings indicating that it is sterling silver and no hallmarks which could provide additional information about it. We also see no signs of any wear to the finish(which is often seen on old silver and nickel plated items and so have no evidence that it is plated) Thus we cannot be sure or guarantee that the lamp is either silver or silver-plated. We can only report what Hulsebus says about this lamp. Although Hulsebus does not provide any information about who made this lamp and when it might have been made. The burner suggests that the lamp is English in origin. Generally speaking, burner markings do not provide reliable clues as to who made a particular lamp. Burners were usually made by metal making companies who were separate and independent from the companies that actually made the lamps.
