A shoe horn, and a nail file, all of which are marked"sterling" All 3 pieces are delicately engraved with heavily intricate floral motifs, showing an incredible amount of detail. The workmanship is truly amazing. Pieces are in excellent condition except for the mirror of the hand mirror. Which it appears someone tried to remove- it is completely secure but is a little"off" as shown. Very light scuffs to silver here and there, mirror back has a few"pin-prick" like indentions, over all in amazing condition. The Webster hallmark(a W with an arrow-like symbol through it) is very light but can be seen beside the sterling mark on the mirror, and on the handle of the nail file, in the right light. The mirror is 11.75 inches long and 6 inches wide. The nail and shoe horn. Measuring the handles only. Are 3.75 long. Weight is approximately 1 lb and 1.6 ounces using a calibrated postal scale that weighs in.2 oz increments. Weight is approximately 500 grams using a calibrated postal scale that weighs in 5 gram increments. These pieces have been carefully cleaned and dried to remove dust and other debris that may scratch or otherwise harm them. The images mirror each other so this ... moreis a true pair and the lamps feature two different views. On one side is a striped awning, draped pavilion with tiled floor. It's a party with elegantly dressed and coifed Lords and Ladies conversing while servants offer refreshment. On the opposing side is a lovely longtailed songbird in a rose thicket surrounded by butterflies. Both scenes are topped by raised golden lizards with long tails. The handles are green opposing or"kissing kitties" The"walls" dividing the scenes feature 2 pairs of scaled google eyed coy fish and abundant flora decoration. The surface of the lamps has a wonderful slightly raised texture where the paints were applied. The photos do not do proper justice to these fabulous lamps! They are large. Measuring 16 1/2" to the top of the vase and 9" wide. The mounts are antique brass and the bases are footed chinese wood stands in dark brown. I have just replaced sockets in both lamps and they function beautifully. The shades shown are not included in this auction but if you want them, I will include them in a separate box for an additional $100.00 plus shipping. In my opinion, these lamps really should have large custom made tall drum shades. This pair was purchased from a wealthy estate in South Beach about 10 years ago and are VERY FINE. I do not know the exact age and I am not going to take them apart to see the markings on the bottom of the vases. Ebay limits the number of photos to 12. But we are moving and cannot take it with us. It is hard to see it go because it is a really beautiful piece. My Mom took very good care of it and I can remember dusting and polishing it through my life. There is the littlest bit of wax residue in some of the carving. But it has been kept beautiful with Old English and Windex, and Liquid Gold Brand Polish. The worst of the surface wear on the wood is over the legs which are not bad for the age. There is damage to the two claw feet in the front. One piece that we had has been glued on but the other side has a piece missing. We believe it is from the turn of the century 1905 to 1920 but cannot be more specific. My Mom told me that my Uncle gave it to my Dad and Mom in the 1940s. But Mom is no longer with us to get more information and I only remember this piece from about 1962. A very elegant design. It stands 60 5/8 inches the top of the cabinet. The removable decorative back piece adds about another 7 inches making the overall height 67 3/4 inches. It is 41 1/4 inches wide and 15 1/2 deep. The inside dimensions are 36 1/2 inches wide by 44 1/2 tall by 12 1/4 inches deep. There are three glass shelves. One shelf is slightly thicker and I can remember my Mother having a shelf made when we moved in 1964 as one broke. Very nicely carved at the top with a laurel wreath and ribbon design. There is beading around the top front edge. There's carving at the bottom and there are occasional chips here and there. The joints are all tight. AND THE BEST OF ALL. THE ORIGINAL KEY IS STILL IN IT. ALWAYS WAS IN A NON-SMOKING ENVIRONMENT FOR LOCAL PICKUP ONLY. Please look at the photos closely and carefully for added description. Phillip Boileau 1908"At the Opera" and"School Days"this is a very old looking mirror. It appears cloudy especially at the top, but smooth to the touch. The top picture"At the Opera" is very clear. The bottom picture"School Days" is very clear. The top left part of the frame looks like someone tried to repair it, but you would have to look closely to see it. The bottom left corner has the date and Boileau's name. This was found in my late-Father's house and not being a collector.all I can say is it looks OLD. The back of this mirror is cardboard and little nails crudely put in to hold the back on. The back also has a blue hand written 35 on it.but who knows who put that on it. At one time therre was a blackish paper on the back. But that is almost completely gone. Antique Gothic Hand Carved Wood Celtic Wall Mirror with a very Medieval appeal. I acquired this from a friend. When her Grandfather passed she got the lot of his belongings. I was told this was hand carved and from Scotland, her family being of Celtic origins. When she gave it to me the finish was very rough. I took my time and with my woodworking skills restored this back to its Original Former Glory. It is magnificent. It is the perfect blend of bold Gothic styling and carved Celtic scroll work, The refinishing of the wood brought out its Natural beauty that had been hidden from 100 years of wear. It simply glows. It is a great size, measuring just under 37" tall by 11" wide and 1" thick it is a impressive piece. Condition for its age is Great, wood is sturdy and solid, the only issue to mention is at top final shaped piece ... morethere is a crack in side that extends down to the piece below it. The crack has been the same for countless years, never increased. It does no affect the strength or integrity of this piece. ANTIQUE Oak Beveled Glass Shield Mirror Fits Hotel or High Boy
From an estate dispersal and at ebay for your consideration is this nice oak mirror. Use it as is like the last owners did or replace one on a hotel or chevelle dresser. Harp mounting receivers are 16.25 inches apart to the outside edge. This mirror is about 20 inches tall and 16.25 inches wide. Mirrors oak frame has its original finish and the silver is respectively good for its age and does show some age spots. There is one long light scratch on the glass that is not distractive. This fun little country survivor dates ca. 1830-1850 and is crafted of soft wood(poplar? Pine? with original two tone red grain painted surface and brass hanging loop. It measures only 6 ½” x 5 ½” overall with 4 ½” x 3 ½” reveal and 5” x 4” back opening and houses an antique glass mirror pane with badly fogged silver. The construction is all wrought nail and it retains its old thin wood back held in place with square nails. Antique Empire Regency Gilt Looking Glass Mirror Picture Frame Rope Twist Column
This superior ca. 1825-1845 pier glass frame is missing its dividing muntin. So could easily be hung as an over mantel. It is crafted of pine and poplar with worn middle to late 1800s dark glaze(to imitate wood) over brilliant original metal leaf and measures 39” x 19 ¾” x 2 ¾” deep overall with 33” x 14” reveal and 33 ¾” x 14 3/8” back rabbet opening. The surface is dirty and stable and very hard to describe: at time smoky brown and dull with some shiny areas of glaze punctuated by bright gold leaf gleaming through in areas of wear. It is very striking. One of the brass corner rosettes is gone and there is no mirror glass or backing board. If you wish to restore to the original bright gold, I suspect this layer could be removed without significantly damaging the leaf. Thr frame is sturdy and usable. The frame is a wood base with the fine decorations added in gesso and all finished in its original gilding. The frame is in good original antique condition. We can see minor repairs to the gesso. Especially a repair to the top of the crest and there are also small bits of gesso missing here and there and chips in the gilding. All of this is very typical in these old gilt frames. The glass is also hand cut and original but the mirror was re-silvered in 1974(dated on rear) The glass is undamaged and the silvering very good with very light spotting. Another one of my estate sale Relics. The outside of the frame measures approx 29wide x 21in tall without the pediment.And with the pediment its 24 1/4in. The frame has rounded corners,and the inside would hold a picture that measures 17 1/2 x 25 5/8in,and the lip measures 3/8ths in wide. The ornate part is cracked where the pediment meets the frame. There are also a few missing pieces in this general region. The piece could be repaired fairly easily for a person with some knowledge on Mold making. The frame is a gold radiator paint color,and has multiple layers of old paint. There is a one inch long chip on the right side,and a few smaller chips along the frames edge,a little sanding would remove the chips. The piece needs a little TLC and a cleaning. Up for auction is an antique hand mirror with angels. I am told it is Edwardian in style. I did not know Edward. So I cannot attest to that fact. It has the initials ACR engraved on the back. The mirrir surface is well aged and is marginally functional as a mirror. It is marked Sterling 925 fine in at least 2 places.This is from my wifes collection.I just think it is nice. Antique Victorian Highly Carved Walnut Hall Tree w/ Beveled Mirror & Marble
Estate Treasure. Up for auction is a Victorian highly carved hall tree. It dates back to the mid 1800's. It is walnut and the finish has ebonized. It is in very good condition for it's age. The small diamond shaped mirror at the top is spotted and streaked and a piec of molding around th mirror is missing. The small 1/2 moon mirror near the top is in great condition and the large beveled mirror is great with very slight haziness(it measures 39" H by 17-1/2" W) The marble shelf has some small flea bite chips along the edge and one larger chip on the back edge next to the wood(it is 8" by 14" There are no coat hooks and it does not appear to have ever had any. As with any antique furniture there are going to be some character flaws but I have pointed out everything even slightly major. It stands 89" tall. 23" ... morewide, and 10" deep. There are some signs of silver fade at the back side of the glass. The brush has been used and shows normal signs of use over the years.
