This is a Victorian Sterling Lipstick Compact with a tube of lipstick included and a tiny little mirror. It is chased in design and measures almost three inches by 3/4 of an inch squared. It has a tiny latch held together with a gem stone which looks to be turquoise. But is cracked as shown in the pictures. The tube of lipstick is there and exactly as pictured. I have not cleaned it. VERY ORNATE ANTIQUE 935 STERLING MIRROR & BRUSH SET
Description: Antique. Highly detailed 935 sterling silver mirror and brush set with an unusual scalloped form. 935 sterling is a very high purity of sterling silver(normal sterling is 925) The bristles on the brush are boar bristle. There is a blank monogram oval on both the mirror and brush, so you can have these monogrammed for yourself if you like. The mirror measures 13-1/4 inches long X 5-1/4 inches wide at the widest point. The brush measures 10-1/2 inches long X 3-1/8 inches wide at the widest point. The mirror weighs 478 grams. The brush weighs 175.1 grams. The weights are total weights including fill material and the mirror. I do not see any maker mark on this set. MIRROR CONDITION: When you move the mirror, you can hear a little bit of loose fill material inside, that is normal for these antique vanity items. The glass of the mirror ... moreis in good condition with just a couple of scratches. There is some loss of silvering along the perimeter where the mirror meets the frame, this is normal for antique mirrors and you can see this in the pictures. Where the mirror meets the handle, there is very subtle soldering left and right, I do not know whether this is original to the piece or a repair, but if it is a repair then it is an antique repair and very beautifully done. On the back of the mirror, the sterling silver is in very nice condition, just a couple of extremely small dings that you will never notice on normal viewing and a few very light surface scratches, these are only visible on close inspection. You can buff them out but it is really unnecessary. The 935 sterling mark is located on the handle of the mirror below 6 o’clock. BRUSH CONDITION: The bristles are boar bristle and are in very nice condition and have held their shape well. The brush floor that holds the bristle is celluloid and is in beautiful condition. Oh) The beautiful beveled mirror is a masterpiece in itself and measures 19 ½” x 15 ½” The shelf measures 20” and the drawer with the pearl handles reveals another shelf inside that is 5” deep. The towel rack is approximately 18’ long. It was made, in best guess, in the early 1900’s. I was remodeling a house from pre-1900 where I found this hanging and being used in a bathroom. The owner told me that his grandfather had this mirror/drawer/towel rack since he could remember. I bought it from him because it is just awesome. I prefer antiques untouched and left alone, unfortunately my wife does not feel the same and is ... moremaking me get rid of it. BEAUTIFUL ANTIQUE GILT WOOD GESSO PICTURE MIRROR WALL FRAME ORNATE 24"x32" LARGE
We are pleased to offer this very beautiful. C1920, antique frame. This frame offers solid gilt wood with gesso acanthus leaf accents in the corner sections. The frame features an outer design of small cut/incised acanthus leaves. There is a unique cut pattern to the wood in the center sections of the frame which gives it a"brushed" gold appearance. The inner section features small cut beads. The frame is very European in style and design. It is very beautiful and in very good condition. There are some very minor surface cracks to the gesso, as it quite common with pieces this old. They do not extend below the surface and do not affect the stability of the gesso. They are very hard to discern except upon very close inspection. The frame does not show its age at all and the gilted finish is incredible. The frame had an old picutre ... morein it which was not in good condition. There are traces of the old paper backing to the back of the frame. The frame retains the hangers and wire. This Auction is for an 1800s Antique Wood Folding Shaving Mirror for men. I believe this dates to around the Civil War era.1860s to the 1880s. Has three Wooden Panels with some type of Leather or oil cloth backing to each of the Beveled Mirror Panels,the Leather panel that shows on the outside when folded close has a picture embossed into it of a Native American Indian on a Pony or Horse and holding an Arrow like he is hunting or going into Battle. The other 2 panels are plain however one is missing but could be replicated and replaced. The Beveled mirrors are cloudy from and the silvering on back has worn as pictured due to age. The original hardware is all intact including Gold metal round ball feet so you could open this up on top of a table or it has a chain with which to hang it on the wall. It has a raised floral relief with or repousse. It is marked sterling. It is a very cute size. It is only 4 5/8" diameter x 8 5/8" Interesting, the beaded ring on mirror side is brass, this bi metal feature adds a nice look. The mirror has been replaced with a new non beveled mirror. It has some shallow dents on edges and some shallow dents on handle but overall is still very nice. These mirrors can get pretty banged up. This is one of the most impressive mantle's I've had. At first I thought it was primitive but it's definitely Victorian and called Stick& Ball. It was for a drafting firm. Dentist office or school house as the little drawers have pencil/utility trays. Which I've photographed for you. It's actually 2 pieces. The bottom is a standard mantle front which we added a little interior lip to b/c our fireplace was a bit smaller. So you can fashion this around various sized fireplaces. The top section is a topper that sits on top and will need to be bolted/ affixed to the wall and rests on the mantle-top. The entire piece you are seeing here is 66" wide and 68" tall from the ground to the top ball on either corner. I see no detrimental damage to it whatsoever. It's clean and lovely.
