The celluloid cover book has ... morean image of The Vatican. The cover does have some blemishes but for the most part is in good display condition. Colors are not too faded. And it is not too dirty and worn. Back side looks to be a red velvet or felt material. The ornate latch is present but does not work. The bindings are a little loose but still intact. This piece originally had cabinet card photos in it when I found it, and I have been selling off the cards separately. The picture holes roughly fit 6"X4" maybe 7"X5" cards. Pages inside are a little dirty in places and have some smaller tears here and there. Overall great piece to use with your photos or to display. YOU WON'T FIND ANOTHER! The other book looks to have a metal soldier on the front. Possibly a Civil War soldier. The front and back are a soft cloth material. Bindings are a little loose but still functional. Up for auction is a very naughty'Pharaoh Cigar Rich and Mellow' celluloid advertising pocket mirror. The scene on this piece is a boy standing on a wharf with another boy beside him. The boy on the left is peeing in the water. There is another child in the water with his hand up to his face to protect himself from being peed on. This scene is entitled. A Quiet Stream' There is no maker's mark on this mirror. I believe it dates to the late 19th century or early 20th century. Antique Mirror from Theodore Roosevelt
This 16" x 20" mirror has been in the family for about 100 years. It was a gift for my grandfather from his friend. Tennis partner and business aquaintance, President Theodore Roosevelt, in the early 1900s. I inherited the mirror from my grandmother. The mirror is in pretty good condition except for a strip of wood which is separating from the frame(see picture) It's not really practical as a mirror due to the type of reflective surface which was utilized in these mirrors at the time(I suspect the mirror itself was likely made in the early to mid 1800s) However. It's a rather attractive mirror and an even better conversation piece. As the story goes. My grandfather was an avid outdoorsman and hunter when not serving as an influential New York City attorney, just the kind of man President Roosevelt liked to surround himself ... morewith. The mirror was kind of a joke, given to my grandfather so that he could get a proper shave while hunting in remote areas of Canada. The little girl has a crack in her right cheek and there is a small piece missing on the right side of the graphic. The box has some cosmetic issues(faded drawer linings, bottom drawer ring is mishapen) but all in all not too bad. The brush and the mirror both have cracks on both handles that have been repaired. The insides of the drawers are a little dirty as well. The box is 10" long. 6" deep, and 7 3/4" high. Up for auction is this beautiful antique Victorian era"gesso" mirror. This rare mirror has been professionally appraised($350.00 to $500.00! and according to the expert this mirror is from the 1800's. Possibly very early 1900's. It is in original"barn find" condition and retains it's original patina. It does not have any cracks or repairs! It has not been cleaned in any way. There are no manufacturers marks that I could find. The mirror is a little loose in the frame which could be easily fixed by removing the original paper backing, which I am unwilling to do. This unique shaped mirror measures 32" tall x 24" wide across the back side. The frame is 1 1/2" thick. The mirror itself measures inside the frame 17 1/2" tall x 14 1/2" wide. Antique Jensen Whale Mark DENMARK Silver REPOUSSE Mirror Comb Case Art Nouveau
This is a super purse size silverplate Hand Mirror created by HANS JENSEN in DENMARK with the mirror rolled in REPOUSSE Silver. There is a Hunting Scene with a house- trees a Man playing a FIddle with many onlookers including a dog. There is a barrel- buckets. Etc. The SILVER REPOUSSE comb case refects the scenes on the mirror. The mirror is 4-3/4" in length and 2-1/2" in diameter across. It is marked DENMARK with the Whale HALLMARK of HANS JENSEN. The comb case has a nice weight and measures close to 5" long and 1" wide. There is a 1" middle removeable silver piece that slides over the comb when it is in place. The original comb crumbled over the many years but certainly could be replaced for use. The case is in Beautiful condition with the words on the bottom rim of SPRITZER& FUHRMANN. I am relishing this as a Buy it Now/Best Offer after having interests in fixed pricing vs. the auction with reserve I had previously posted. I will not sell on the QT. I wish to go through eBay. I will consider all serious offers and answer all questions the best that I can. I am selling one of my most favorite pieces in my collection. What I have been told is a VERY early Dr. Ziegler Head mirror/ reflector. The only markings on it are"PAT APLD FOR" which I have understood to mean"Patent Applied For" Supposedly this would have been early enough to not even have the patent number and/or date. Absolutely beautiful with a very natural patina. I have never polished. Deoxidized or cleaned the piece. I am by no means a photographer and I can tell you the pictures do not remotely do this justice. The mirror has the peep hole ... morefor your eye and the mirror is completely adjustable with the brass clamp and balls. I have not seen another with a nose rest. It seems as though the later ones were built with a larger pad on the forehead and eliminated the nose rest. All the construction appears to be painted brass other than the buckle for the strap. Absolutely beautiful. Please let me know if you have any questions and/or concerns. I would be happy to speak with anyone who might know more about the piece than I. When I purchased the piece, I was told that it was WWI vintage and was military oriented and was used in France. I do not know the truth to that, but would love to find out more. This beautiful Victorian style plateau mirror was made by Eureka Silver Co Ltd in the late 19th or early 20th century.10" round and 1 3/8" high. This elegant footed tray rests on five very ornate feet. The mirror has no chips or cracks and the frame and feet are in excellent shape for its age. This is an early solid oak shaving mirror. It still has it's original shellac finish which looks to be in good shape for it's age. It has a lower compartment to hold your shaving items like a straight razor. Shaving soap, and brush. Could also have been used to hold toothbrush items.
