The base measures 11 1/4" x 17 1/2" and the main body measures 9 1/4" x 13 1/2" and the face which may be silver measures 9 1/2" across. Brittany France Carved 1900 Antique Grandfather. Tall or Long Case Clock. An elegant tall or long case"grandfather" clock was hand-carved of solid chestnut about 1900 in Brittany. With a high-relief traditional scene. The picturesque panel shows a woman wearing wooden shoes with a steep-roofed stone house in the background. Brittany or Bretagne is a maritime province of northwest France. Formerly a separate country. The"Breton" language is still spoken. Famous for their cultural traditions and distinctive dress, the local hand-carved furniture has outstanding workmanship, using native local hardwoods with picturesque traditional motifs. The brass movement runs for a week on a winding, there is a double strike, counting the hour twice in case you were not paying attention the first time, and also strikes once on the half hour. Nickel accents are beautiful on the brass lyre pendulum. Measurements are 25" wide, 15" deep and 7' 5 1/2" tall. This clock needs to be"set up" when delivered- weights and pendulum attached and the case leveled. Most of our customers can do this as we walk them through the fairly simple steps by phone. The process is not very difficult. And it is also nice to know how to do this again whenever the clock needs to be moved for cleaning, painting or whatever. Cool antique R. Whiting Grandfather Clock w/Works! For project/Restoration! Nice! What a beautiful clock! Appears to be weight driven. Does not have the original wooden works and the movement has been replaced with a set of brass works. A restorer could find wooden works for the clock and restore it to its original condition or just use the brass works! In decent Antique condition! Includes pendulum but no weights. The case has a fair amount of dings and scratches as expected with age. Looks like someone put wooden shims on the bottom of the clock base and one is loose so the clock is a bit wobbly– easy fix. The Clock case is missing one of the columns on the left side as shown in the photos. In addition. The long columns next to the door are both missing. Someone could easily replace the columns on this Clock. Really beautiful old German Grandfather clock. Solid wood case. 81" tall. 10" deep and 20" wide. Base is 24" at the widest point. Domed glass for clock face is about 11.5" across and beveled glass front is 38" at the top of the arch. All glass is intact. I have cleaned it up and made some weights for it and this clock runs and keeps time. The chimes are beautiful! Weights are homemade. Cannot find identifying signature on the movement. One of the feet is cracked. All together an exquisite case with smoked glass. This clock would be absolutely beautiful in any home. Once you have this clock, you will never want to let it go. The case has a fair amount of dings and scratches as expected with age. The Top right finial to the Clock case is loose and has been detached but is included. Looks like there has been some repair to the door over the years which we tried to depict in the Photos as best as possible. The front lower door panel to the Clock has what looks like some drips of some sort probably from water. Looks like the clock case Could probably be restored to original beauty. There is a chip on the top left side which runs about 12 inches or so as shown in the photos. There is also a chip in the lower left side panel which runs about 3 inches. There is no glass in either of the side panels but there is in the front door. Not sure ... moreif the original Clock case had glass in the side panels but thought we would just mention it. Antique Early 1800s Riley Whiting Wooden Grandfather Clock Movement & Dial
This is a great very old Wooden Grandfather Clock Movement& Dial. This movement I believe is Riley Whiting from the 1820s or 30s! There are a few issues but it is quite old. It is the original dial but it has been toughed up a bit but that was done many years ago. There is a bushing repair on the strike side a verge repair. It has an excellent bell but the bracket is newer so they bent the hammer, the second hand is original but the hand are not they are from a brass works clock but they have ornate details, and the cables are broken. The dial is 16 1/4" by 11 3/4" the movement is 8 1/2" by about 6 1/4" and it weighs 4.2 pounds. I have no way to test this so I'm assuming it works but do not know for sure! This a Colin B Kennedy grandfather clock radio which I've had for years and meant to have restored and never got around to it. I'm moving and I can't take it along with me. The cabinet is really handsome with two-tone wood and a"waterfall design" It's good and has no missing veneer but needs a restorer's hand. The radio would need to be re-built. Of course. It's complete but missing a tube. The pressboard back is still on it which is unusual in these bigger pieces. They were often removed for"ventilation" This would be a nice addition to a collection. IT'S BACK! I again have for auction my early 1900's German made grandfather clock. I received this clock as an anniversary gift in 1980. It was purchased from a friends collection by my former husband at the time. It has not been run since moving to this area in 1992 because my husband doesn't like the sound of a clock running. It ran perfect and the chimes were beautiful the last it was run. Chimes on the half hour and hour. Although there are no markings to verify it is a Gustav Becker Clock I recently received an email from a gentleman saying he has the exact clock ant it is indeed Gustav Becker. He advised to remove the listing and to keep my treasure. I know I won't be able to take the clock to my next home and display it properly. Style: Gothic.beveled glass in door. Condition: Very Good. some signs of wearing on wood ... moreand face of clock. no missing parts. Material: I believe it to be walnut but possible it could be dark oak. Measurements: approx: 6' Tall and 10" wide. The clock has been in my hallway since moving to this area. Antique German / Bavarian Grandfather Clock (150+/- Years Old)
My parents and I were stationed at a Military base in Weirtheim on the Rhine Maine, which was originally the BAVARIA area. Around 1962-1965. I recently found out my ancestors(Pre-1700) were from about 30 miles west of where we lived in Bavaria. My dad started collecting old German clocks while there. He bought 8 Grandfather clocks and 35 grandmother clocks. He swung a deal with a local clock store that when they got one in. dad got called to come look at it. Whether this is the original workings in it or the store owner replaced it. I can't say but it fits perfectly. All looks original to me. Beautiful! It took a long time to get used to trying to sleep with all the clocks going off at midnight, and the large number of Grandmother/Grandfather Westminister clocks even more often. Though the music is pretty. When he bought this one. Early ... morein the 3 1/2 years we were there, he was told it was over 100 years old. That would make it about 150 years old now. When we came back to the United States he sold most of them except for THIS grandfather clock that he kept in the house. And 2 grandmother clocks that were also very old and great condition. I remember it ran great years ago when they wound them. It was kept in the house and kept clean. It was his favorite one and the only Grandfather he kept that worked. I'm keeping those 2 grandmother clocks(The one is full of worm-holes and beautiful hand-carving. My parents are dead and now I want to sell the house. Especially since I've heated the empty house for years now. Anyway. Nowhere to put it. It is almost 7' TALL! It's 80" 6.67' Tall and the base is 12.6" x 23.5" Beautiful art work on the Pendulum. Clearly hand crafted. NO cracks or problems I can see. Solid wood. Nothing is missing or broken. Antique 1920's German Grandfather Clock Brass Dial, Weights, and Pendulum
This is a great old clock dates from about the 1920's all the guts match and appear to be original to clock i.e. the weights. Dial, and pendulum. The light coming in the window messed with some of the pictures hopefully they are good enough for you to see the quality of this piece. It is has a dark wood tone finish to it and does not appear to have any damage to it other than normal wear for age. It measures about 81" tall, about 10" deep, and about 20" wide. This item is available for local pickup or I will deliver to select area's for.50 cents per mile one way. Antique Pine Grandfather Clock with charming lines You don't often find such charming grandfather clocks. This fit in many households where the more formal. Highly polished grandfather clocks would not. Made from full wide boards of pine. I had a local clock maker come and check it out and he said all the inner workings are there, but I have not had it working. The face is so pretty, soft pastels of florals and delicate hands. Fantastic antique weight driven grandfather clock with 5 tube chime
Murphy's Law.I had been searching for a statement piece grandfather clock for our foyer for years. I found this spectacular clock and no sooner had it arrived I located my dream clock. An 8 1/2 foot 9-tube Waltham grandfather clock. Since I do not need two huge clocks I am selling this one, and please note.it is not a Waltham. This clock stands 90" tall and 30 1/2" wide. The case is mahogany or walnut and it retains its original finish. Beveled glass, etc. The movement is a weight driven, chain drive, 5-tube movement. I have never pulled it out so am unsure of the brand. It is not the original movement. The cloth covered opening in the back of the case has an antique board in place of the cloth. Easily reversed. I have the five tubes and they are heavily tarnished/corroded. I also have the three large brass weights. Overall ... morea great restoration piece which is exactly what I had planned on doing until Mr. Waltham appeared. I have not run the clock ever so please assume it needs a professional cleaning and oiling. I paid a lot for this clock due to the intracacies of the case. This clock is 106 inches tall(9 feet) It measures 82 inches from the floor to the center of the dial. The clock has a strong and beautiful sounding 8 tube chime and a large gong for the strike. The three weights are large with the largest being 11 1/2 inches long. The moon dial is awesome. However there is some paint flaking due to age(see photos) The clock plays either a Westminster or Whittington tune on the 8 tubes. The longest tube being about 5 ½ feet long. From the wood inlay on the base of the clock to the highly detailed column tops this clock is super. The door and trunk glass are beveled and there are numerous small details in the case that reflect quality. Tall 7' 3" Antique German Grandfather Clock
This grandfather clock keeps and strikes accurate time. It strikes the time on the hour and strikes once on the half hour. The clock is 7' 3" tall. 21" wide, and 13" deep. It weighs 112 pounds. I was told that it was made in the mid to late 1800s which appears to be correct. It is in great shape with very few dings but is missing the trim on each side of the base. This could be replaced but is not usually noticed unless pointed out. I used this clock in my living room for several years and never had any problems. Antique Scottish Tall Case / Grandfather Clock by Jas. Fowlds c. 1820 REDUCED
Here is a fine Scottish tall case clock by James Fowlds of Kilmarnock dating to around 1820. This is fresh from an Ohio estate; the clock was'gone over' in 1970. It was originally a flat bonnet with the swan neck pediment added some time 20th century and it's a striking addition to the Figured Mahogany case. The dial is original. Unrestored with the signature visible under black light. It is typical for the black line work, time track, calendar, and all black to need restoration after 190 years. The painted arch, corners, and white dial are fine so a minor restoration(about $300) could be a consideration. I'm offering the clock, first, as found. The figured mahogany case is beautiful with string inlay and corners inlaid also. The arch shows a nice inlay on the dovetailed bonnet. Movement is complete with both hands& second bit. Heavy brass plates with pins. It may be an English movement. As I can find no markings on it. But may also be very early American. It has a bell strike. As far as I can tell, it is not worn appreciably. Has weight pulleys, but no weights are included with this clock movement. It's heavy, but shipping will be reasonable.

Hi! Fresh from a nice old Maine estate is this wonderful antique TALL CLOCK- GRAND FATHER CLOCK- In very good antique condition! Based on some research and information found on line.I am guessing this was built sometime in the mid 1800's.The beautiful stained pine case stands approximately 103" tall(to the top of the center finial) It has a long solid door in front used for access to the weights and pendulum(pictured) I believe the large heavy weight-run movement and sculptured brass trim is a MORBIER COMTOISE however,I did not find any other markings accept for what is printed on the tin face(pictured)This is a time-strike movement which strikes an 8" heavy forged brass bell(pictured) on the hour and once again shortly after the hour(hence the term"Repeater"When the folding pendulum arm is fully extended,the total ... morelength is a little over 42" and the brass sheathed bob is 7 1/2" diameter. The hanging drive weight weighs just over 42 pounds, and the strike weight weighs about 25 pounds. The clock base is 20" wide x 12" deep.The movement has recently been professionally cleaned and serviced. It keeps very good time and strikes as it should. The bonnet has had some repairs,and the tall case shows its age with a few light blemishes and scratches from use and moving around. There is also a small piece of quarter round molding that needs to be re-attached on the front. This grandfather or tall case clock is signed"GB" for famous German maker, Gustave Becker on the movement and chime bar. All original. The wormy oak case has a beautiful finish with minor mars and a little wear, see photos. Waxed and buffed, all that is needed to maintain its warm patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. The hammered brass dial shows a few spots to the lacquer finish. See photos. Embossed and lacquered brass pendulum and weights are beautiful on this antique furniture from Europe. The brass movement keeps excellent time and runs for a week when wound by pulling the chains. There is a strike on the hour and half. Glass over the dial is convex. Antique Grandfather Clock, Tall Case Long William Newby, Kendal England. C. 1780
What an exceptionally lovely antique grandfather's clock. Signed by the maker. William Newby, who practiced out of Kendal(Kendall) England from around 1760 until about 1800. A tall. 99 inch, please measure your ceilings, as 99 inches is prodigiously tall) grandfather, cased in gorgeous mahogany with Ogee feet, with a nicely shaped waist, vertical pillars on the body and bonnet, banded inlay throughout, plus gilded gesso florets and an urn finial accentuating the broken arch pediment. 8 Day movement. Dial shows hours. Seconds, and has a desirable additional calendar dial. Overall. It is in very good condition with just some very minor surface issues, it had sat in a moist, stone wall home for many years, so it has some slight mildew stains(honestly, it really does not detract much from the overall presence) the glass does have a crack(easy ... moreto replace if so desired) and the dial has some enamel loss where the movement's posts meet the back of the face. I was told that the clock had been sent to a professional clock restorer not all that long ago, and I can see that someone has updated the rope that the weights rest on with a polymer line. I have not been able to get the clock to run for more than 5 to 10 minutes at a time, even though, I have devoted many attempts to level but still it fades out. Backboard has large panels cut out with redish cloth inserts and same cut outs on each side at the top of the case. This is done to let the sound resonant easier.
